Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Flying Peak!” Family Head Fang paused slightly, stopping the hurried Mu Hanyan, ”Young Master Mu, please wait, I forgot to tell you something.”

”Can we talk about it later? I really have urgent matters.” Mu Hanyan said quickly, not wanting to linger on.

”This matter concerns Flying Peak.” Seeing Mu Hanyan’s urgency, Family Head Fang quickly took out a black iron fragment and placed it in Mu Hanyan’s hand.

”What is this?” Hearing it was related to Flying Peak, Mu Hanyan instinctively paused and took the dark fragment.

Once in hand, she realized she had judged incorrectly. Although the object was black and shiny, like refined steel, it was not iron. It was neither metal nor jade, not even stone, but resembled a fragment from the Dragon Whisker Thunder Beast’s armor.

Mu Hanyan pinched it, finding its hardness far exceeded refined steel and was much tougher than the Dragon Whisker Thunder Beast’s armor. Despite the beast’s renowned impenetrable defense, it relied heavily on its innate vitality and Beast Spirit Qi. If detached from its body without infused Beast Spirit Qi, the armor was merely akin to ordinary iron, far inferior to refined steel.

If this armor fragment is indeed from an Exotic Beast, how formidable must its defenses be?

”This has been passed down in my Fang family for generations. According to my great-grandfather, grandfather, and father, our ancestors did not buy those barren lands to make money but out of fear of future descendants squandering the family assets, and also because of this armor fragment.

Legend has it that the fragment is extremely mysterious, possibly related to Flying Peak, which may hide an earth-shattering secret.” Family Head Fang said solemnly.

If Family Head Fang spoke of this to others, it would likely be met with scornful laughter. Flying Peak has stood for hundreds of thousands of years near Anyun City. If there were truly a secret, why wait until now? Barren and unproductive since ancient times, only provincial tycoons like the Fang family would believe rumors and buy it; others wouldn’t want it even if given away.

”Why haven’t you mentioned this before?” Mu Hanyan asked in surprise.

Others might not know the secret hidden under Flying Peak, but she was aware.

Though Family Head Fang spoke vaguely, Mu Hanyan knew he wasn’t lying. The mysterious armor fragment in her hand, upon concentrating inner vision, she faintly sensed its ancient Divine Beast aura. Despite its age and faintness, its owner should be more formidable than the Qiongqi Divine Beast in Exotic Beast Valley.

It’s highly likely this fragment is from the hidden Divine Beast in ancient relics.

Yet such a powerful Divine Beast, how could its armor have fallen off? What secrets lie within this fragment?

”Because my ancestors valued this secret greatly, setting a clan rule: Unless determined to lead the entire clan in loyalty to another, forever becoming their household, this secret must never be revealed.” Family Head Fang said solemnly, looking at Mu Hanyan expectantly, fearing she’d refuse.

After all, the Fang family now lacks strength and wealth, making them virtually worthless. Accepting them as loyal household members would be a significant burden for Mu Hanyan.

”Family Head Fang, henceforth, the affairs of the Fang family will be my Mu Hanyan’s affairs. As long as I’m here, I will ensure the Fang family faces no harassment, and I’ll provide the Fang Family Disciples’ cultivation resources.” Mu Hanyan said earnestly.

In the past, she might not have accepted the Fang family’s offer so easily. According to Holy Court Continent’s rules, accepting them as her hereditary household means she becomes their nominal Zong Family head, and their honor and success impacts her reputation. She must supply enough cultivation resources and support them in crucial moments, essentially protecting the Fang family.

Otherwise, she’d face contempt from the entire Holy Court Continent, from royal families, Noble Families, and common folks, leading to an inevitable isolating downfall.

After all, if an entire family becomes your household, failing to fulfill such duties invites criticism.

However, the benefits are substantial. Once the Fang family becomes her hereditary household, they’ll pledge allegiance, never betraying unless she permits, nor establishing their own domain.

Many Noble Families were initially founded this way. Otherwise, with a few strong individuals, creating a Noble Family within a short time by natural means would be implausible.

Despite the significant benefits, usually, only Holy-grade and top-tier strong individuals have the qualifications to recruit a family as household, and her current cultivation, prestige, and wealth do not meet such standards.

Yet, considering the Divine Beast armor fragment, Mu Hanyan swiftly decided to accept Family Head Fang’s proposal.

She has an intuition that this fragment holds great significance for their upcoming undertaking, potentially affecting their mission’s success.

With elevated Six Senses understanding and deeper Star Skill knowledge, Mu Hanyan increasingly trusts her instincts.

”Many thanks, Lord, for your mercy. The Fang family, henceforth, is your hereditary household, pledging eternal service without deviation from this oath at risk of divine punishment.” Family Head Fang expressed immense joy, bowing deeply, then cut his fingertip with a sword to swear allegiance to Mu Hanyan.

”Family Head Fang, since I’ve accepted, I will do my utmost, rest assured. I’ll discuss other matters upon my return. Let’s head out first.” Mu Hanyan, unaccustomed to Family Head Fang’s grand gesture, helped him up and then waved before quickly heading towards Flying Peak with Ye Lanfeng and others.

...

Elsewhere, the Fifth Prince wore a sullen expression, gazing from afar at the majestic and desolate peak.

”Your Highness, what should we do now?” Qu Fengting asked the Fifth Prince, equally dejected.

”What should we do? How the heck would I know what to do?” The Fifth Prince erupted in anger.

After leaving Fang Village, the Sword Guard Mansion family young masters fled swiftly with none left behind.

Clearly, this plan to win hearts failed miserably and would only make him a laughingstock once more.

Mu Hanyan, Mu Hanyan, thinking of Mu Hanyan’s innocent-looking smile, the Fifth Prince gritted his teeth.

”Forget it, let’s go back and rethink.” The Fifth Prince, angry as he was, knew he stood no chance against Mu Hanyan at the moment and had to concede.

What? Go back?

Qu Fengting and Nian An Yao were naturally unwilling!
