Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 935: Chapter 935: Strike While You’re Down

She advanced from the First Rank Sword Master to the Third Stage, which brought more than just a simple enhancement in strength. Not only did the defensive power of the Cangxuan Cloud Silk increase significantly, but with her Divine Sense Six Senses improving, the shortcomings of Shadow Shifting also greatly diminished.

So even if Nian An Yao was three stages above her, she still had the qualification for a battle. Mu Han Yan was filled with confidence regarding her current combat power.

”Mu Hanyan, you’re asking for humiliation yourself, you can’t blame me for bullying the young with my old power, hahahaha.” Seeing Mu Hanyan’s strength, Nian An Yao was even more confident, laughing loudly.

”Masters in battle, yet still have time to fart around, truly courting death!” Mu Hanyan sneered inwardly and prepared to use the Barrier of Shadow Shifting.

But at that moment, she suddenly discovered that Nian An Yao’s laughing eyes turned inexplicably blank, and even his smile became stiff and wooden.

What shocked Mu Hanyan even more was that Nian An Yao, with a silly grin, unexpectedly stretched lazily and yawned.

What is going on?

Such scenarios weren’t the first she had witnessed. During the previous fight with Dantai Changqing’s younger brother, Dantai Xuan, that guy also displayed fatigue at critical moments, yawning blankly with empty eyes.

Right, last time she herself felt equally lethargic and absent-minded, even blamed herself for losing focus in a master’s battle, discovering thereafter that the opponent was even more affected.

Upon this thought, Mu Hanyan realized that she too seemed to feel a wave of fatigue rising from within, a tinge of drowsiness creeping into her mind. Although not as severe as last time, Nian An Yao’s fatigued appearance was much worse than Dantai Xuan’s.

What the hell is going on? Mu Hanyan was totally clueless.

Could this old guy be up to some trickery? But seeing his bewildered eyes, he was practically sleepwalking, how could it be a trick?

Moreover, considering Nian An Yao’s superiority by three stages combined with his arrogant and domineering nature, would he even need to resort to deceit?

Though uncertain about what truly transpired, Mu Hanyan was certain that Nian An Yao was distracted at a moment he shouldn’t be, in a very bizarre manner.

Seize the opportunity lest it slip away, strike while he’s incapacitated. Mu Hanyan wouldn’t discuss the morals and faith of a swordsman at such a time. Capitalizing on Nian An Yao’s distracted state, she leapt forward, deftly bypassing Nian An Yao’s hand hanging mid-air, and pressed a hand onto his chest.

Just as Mu Hanyan’s handprint landed on his chest, Nian An Yao finally regained his senses, unfortunately, just a fraction too late.

”Bang!”, amidst a dull sound, Nian An Yao was directly struck by Mu Hanyan’s palm and flung away, resembling a stone cannonball hurled by a catapult, crashing into a remnant wall, which quickly buried him under falling bricks.

All around, everyone stood agape, their eyes almost falling out.

The previously unyielding Master Nian An Yao, was blasted away by Mu Hanyan’s palm and then buried alive?

Is this the outcome of a Sixth-level Sword Master against a third-tier Sword Master? Even if the Mu Family cultivation technique is powerful and has the ability to prevail across ranks, it shouldn’t lead to such a result.

More importantly, this isn’t about relative strength, but rather Nian An Yao getting distracted, sleepwalking, and foolishly smiling, allowing others to approach while he remained still like a stone sculpture, presenting himself as a target for one’s attacks.

”Could it be, this is the legendary ’pretending and getting struck by lightning’?” Considering Nian An Yao’s previously smug and arrogant silly grin, everyone couldn’t help such thoughts emerging in their minds.

Mu Hanyan was slightly stunned as well, initially anticipating Nian An Yao would snap back at the critical juncture like Dantai Xuan last time, requiring her to exert more effort to inflict injury. Perhaps she would need to use the Cangxuan Cloud Silk plus Shadow Shifting, yet unexpectedly, this old fellow showed no reaction, standing there letting her hit, saving her both the Cangxuan Cloud Silk and Shadow Shifting.

This strike was genuinely fulfilling and remarkably effortless to the utmost extent.

”Curse this old man’s wrath, Mu Hanyan, what sorcery did you employ, so despicable and shameless!” At the moment while everyone was silently stunned, Nian An Yao’s exasperated voice emerged.

The old guy blasted away the heap of rubble and flew out from within.

By then, Nian An Yao had shed any demeanor of a Beast Taming Master, covered in dust, utterly disheveled, with two large lumps on his head, one still oozing bright-red blood mixed with dirt, solidifying upon his face, displaying utter misery.

Though he regained his consciousness at the last moment, it was too late to adjust his move, resorting to gathering all his Qi at his chest, barely blocking Mu Hanyan’s strike. Alas, when the Qi dispersed, his head became unprotected, resulting in this pitiful state.

”Clearly, it’s your skill lacking, yet you claim I used some sorcery, how shameless for someone considered a master to utter such words?” Mu Hanyan scoffed disdainfully.

With a silent sigh of pity, she observed that even though Nian An Yao was injured, he wasn’t entirely incapacitated. If her strength was one stage higher, the outcome might otherwise.

”Fine, fine, you dare say my skills are inferior, then I’ll show you my true capabilities.” Overwhelmed with rage and embarrassment, Nian An Yao shouted furiously.

Nian An Yao formed several hand formations, simultaneously chanting under his breath; the originally blood-stained, comical elderly face turned exceptionally solemn, emanating a sense of majesty.

”Beast Taming Technique, he finally executed the Beast Taming Technique.” Someone cried out aloud once more.

The hearts of Fang Family Patriarch and others rose to their throats again.

Do not forget, Nian An Yao’s strongest asset wasn’t his Sword Dao cultivation, but his Beast Taming Technique. Although Mu Hanyan was fortunate to catch Nian An Yao off guard, he hadn’t suffered too extensively. Facing his Beast Taming Technique now, how is she supposed to cope?

”Roar” With Nian An Yao’s hands simultaneously spreading, an earth-shattering beastly roar echoed.

Amidst a flashing illusion, a massive beast appeared below him, rushing toward Mu Hanyan.

The giant beast measured nearly a yard long, displaying an awe-inspiring presence with its green armor, jagged fangs inside its gaping bloodthirsty mouth showcasing supreme ferocity, four enormous legs thicker than usual garden stone stools, pounding the earth as it raced, causing the ground to tremble violently.

”Dragon Whisker Thunder Beast!” A wave of exclamations erupted from all around—spectators and even several Young Masters from the Sword Guard Mansion displayed horrific expressions.

A Beast Tamer, as the name implies, can tame exotic beasts to fight for them, sometimes borrowing the beast’s formidable skills. Since a Beast Tamer usually has another occupation as a swordsman, the strength of the beast taming technique correlates somewhat with their sword cultivation, hence tamed exotic beasts are also called sword pets.
