Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 887: Chapter 887: Back in the Day, I Was Also a Handsome Man

”With him about what?” Han Yan widened his eyes.

”Do you think your grandfather is blind? Or that your grandfather has never been young?” Mu Beichen said grumpily, then switched to a reminiscent and proud expression, ”Back in the day, your grandfather was also a dashing young man, and the love between your grandmother and me was earth-shattering...”

Mu Beichen suddenly turned his head and saw that Han Yan had stopped eating. He rested his chin on his hands, looking at Mu Beichen with eyes sparkling with curiosity, as if listening intently. Mu Beichen snapped back to reality, realizing that singing praises about his own romantic tales in front of the younger generation seemed a bit out of place.

”Ahem, alright, let’s talk about you and that Ye Lanfeng.” Mu Beichen awkwardly cleared his throat.

”As grandfather thinks, that’s exactly what it is between him and me. As for his identity, I don’t care. No matter what status he has, what I care about is the person he is.” Han Yan spoke straightforwardly.

”Alright then, I trust your judgment.” Mu Beichen smiled, ”Well, since you said so, I won’t ask anymore in the future.”

Han Yan returned a radiant smile, nodding.

...

After the meal, Han Yan slowly strolled back to her courtyard. Upon returning, she saw that Zirong and the others had also finished their meal and were resting in the courtyard.

”Let’s go, come with me outside.” Han Yan waved her hand.

”Where to? To bully someone?” Jiang Yuzhe asked while picking his teeth.

”No, to handle some business.” Han Yan rolled her eyes at Jiang Yuzhe; this guy really did adopt the henchman’s mentality.

”Alright, let’s go. A walk will help digest the food too.” Jiang Yuzhe nodded.

So Han Yan took Huayue and the others to the Zhang Family, intending to inquire about the exact location of the Ancient Relics.

They hadn’t even left the mansion when they ran into Mu Zexian and a group of little playboys heading towards them.

”Hello, Brother Han Yan.”

”Hello, Brother Han Yan.” As soon as they saw Han Yan, Mu Zexian and the others came forward to greet him, their eyes filled with admiration. The incident with Kuang Guangyi previously, although Han Yan hadn’t explicitly explained what had happened, they knew they had caused trouble for Han Yan. At the time, they each felt guilty and anxious, but Han Yan comforted them instead. Touched by this, they admired and respected Han Yan even more.

”Aren’t you guys supposed to be cultivating? Where are you planning to fool around now?” Han Yan teasingly asked, seeing their cheerful faces.

Recently, Mu Zexian and the others had been behaving well, focusing on their cultivation daily and not causing any more trouble, which gave Han Yan a deep sense of relief.

”The day to receive the stipend is coming up; we’ve been waiting anxiously and really haven’t been in the mood to cultivate.” Mu Zexian said respectfully and uneasily to Han Yan.

”Then go ahead and relax a bit.” Han Yan decided not to push them too hard. The path of cultivation requires a balance of exertion and relaxation; going overboard is not a wise approach.

Seeing that Han Yan wasn’t angry, Mu Zexian and the others breathed a long sigh of relief.

”Brother Han Yan, where are you going? We’ll go with you.” Mu Zeran excitedly said to Han Yan, looking as if following Big Playboy Mu was a great honor for this group of little playboys.

”I’m off to see a friend. If you want to go, you can join me.” Han Yan said.

She didn’t dislike these little playboys; they reminded her of her younger self. Although the elders of the Zong Family had given up on them, Han Yan didn’t want to see them fall into ruin. Whenever possible, she wanted to lend them a hand.

”Alright, alright, let’s set off now.” Mu Zexian and the others, filled with joy, followed Han Yan cheerfully towards the mansion exit.

No one noticed, from afar behind them, the Supreme Elder and the Third Elder watching their departing figures with a look of resentment.

”Supreme Elder, it is my lack of guidance. I hope the Supreme Elder will punish me.” After a long pause, the Supreme Elder retracted his gaze, speaking with trepidation to the Supreme Elder.

”You’re talking about Chengyang, right? Let it go, he was young and foolish, driven by momentary madness; you cannot be entirely blamed. Since he has already been punished, let’s call it settled.” The Supreme Elder waved his hand.

Reflecting on Mu Chengyang’s previous actions after returning that day, the more he thought about it, the more something felt off. Then after hearing about the Third Elder’s punishment of Mu Chengyang, he became convinced of his suspicions.

Despite precautions day and night, it turns out that internal betrayal is hardest to guard against. Naturally, the Supreme Elder couldn’t possibly not be angry, but at this juncture, what good would anger do?

Being played around by Han Yan and even being heavily extorted, both he and the Third Elder suffered a loss of reputation; turning against the Third Elder now would not only be a laughing matter to outsiders but even their own disciples would mock them.

If it were up to him, even if not executing Mu Chengyang on the spot, he would at least strip him of his cultivation and expel him from the family. But now, no one is unaware that he and the Third Elder are closely aligned; doing so would be akin to slapping his own face.

After much consideration, the Supreme Elder dismissed the idea. Anyway, the Third Elder already broke Mu Chengyang’s arms and legs, penalizing him while also presenting an explanation to himself, so the Supreme Elder decided not to stir up more trouble.

”Thank you, Supreme Elder, for your magnanimity. From now on, I will ensure strict guidance of the younger generation and will not fail the Supreme Elder’s expectations.” The Third Elder sighed in relief.

”By the way, hasn’t Han Yan just returned not long ago? Why do the disciples from each house seem to treat him with such deference, following his lead?” The Supreme Elder wanted to avoid thinking more about Mu Chengyang’s matter, the thought of which made him increasingly disconcerted, so he changed the topic.

He intended to back Mu Chengxuan for the position of Young Master and eventually take over as Family Head. However, it wasn’t prudent to act alone; lacking support from the various branches of the Zong Family would undermine Mu Chengxuan’s legitimacy and not bode well for his own reputation.

Therefore, seeing Mu Zexian and the others being so close to Han Yan irked him.

”The Supreme Elder refers to Zexian and the others, right? They are just inept playboys from the various houses, constantly causing trouble for the Zong Family from a young age. Han Yan, back when he was in Heishi City, was also notoriously famous, known as the number one playboy of Heishi City, and caused who knows how many problems. If it weren’t for Mu Rui’an supporting him from behind, he would have died countless times.

Now, having recently returned, he’s stirring up trouble all over, already being called the number one playboy of the Capital, naturally resonating with these useless individuals like Mu Zexian.

Let’s see how Mu Beichen cleans up the mess when they cause a major disaster.” The Third Elder, understanding what the Supreme Elder was concerned about, personally didn’t care, and sneered as he talked.

”What kind of trouble has he been causing?” Upon hearing this, the Grand Elder was struck with inspiration, and asked. Schemes flickered through his mind. However... the Supreme Elder, completely oblivious, was actually not very bright himself.
