Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 886: Chapter 886: Don’t You Think This Is Manly?

”What are you doing?” Ye Yanran frowned as she watched Mu Hanfeng’s next move. It wasn’t what she was thinking, right?

”It’s exactly what you’re thinking. I’m signing a contract with this rabbit.” Mu Hanfeng seemed to have guessed what Ye Yanran was thinking, verbally responding while his hands never stopped moving.

The Scar Rabbit’s two little eyes were wide open. Seriously? Is there really such a human who casually picks up a rabbit and wants to sign a contract? Although this lord isn’t just any ordinary rabbit, how can there be someone so spontaneous?

”Do you, do you... do you know what kind of Exotic Beast this is?” Ye Yanran almost jumped up. Signing a contract to take in a pet is such a major event, and Mu Hanfeng was just so casual about it? And isn’t this contract document quite expensive? The contract paper he’s using must be made by some Alchemy Master and surely isn’t cheap, and he’s just handing it over to a rabbit? And a rogue Scar Rabbit at that?

”Nope.” Mu Hanfeng answered with righteous confidence.

”Then you’re still...” Ye Yanran was horrified.

”Precisely because I don’t know, that’s why I’m signing.” Mu Hanfeng said even more confidently.

Huh? That makes so much sense that I have no words?

Ye Yanran looked up, blinking in disbelief, and recalled Mu Hanfeng’s words. Just because he doesn’t know or hasn’t heard of it, could this rogue Scar Rabbit be incredibly extraordinary?

While Ye Yanran was mulling over this, Mu Hanfeng had already completed the contract.

”Okay.” Mu Hanfeng roughly tossed the rabbit to the ground.

”Does this rabbit have any skills?” Ye Yanran asked, puzzled, as she looked at the Scar Rabbit on the ground.

”Dare to underestimate this lord, believe it or not, this lord...” The rogue Scar Rabbit, feeling belittled, jumped up defiantly, only to be smacked down by Mu Hanfeng.

”Still ’this lord’? Whose lord are you trying to be?” Mu Hanfeng asked icily.

”My own,” the Scar Rabbit said meekly.

Ye Yanran was shocked.

”Mu Hanfeng, he, he, he can talk!” Ye Yanran exclaimed in horror. It’s impossible for normal Exotic Beasts to talk.

”Yeah.” Mu Hanfeng was unfazed, ”I already said, this isn’t your average Exotic Beast.”

”Exactly, this little lord isn’t your average Exotic Beast either. Don’t lump me in with those low-level beasts.” The Scar Rabbit said smugly, originally wanting to say ”this lord” but quickly changed it after seeing Mu Hanfeng’s cold stare, though switching from ”this lord” to ”this little lord” didn’t make much difference.

”Want another scar on your face?” Mu Hanfeng asked coldly.

”Aye no no no, this scar I put on myself. Don’t you think it adds masculinity? But two scars would just show you’re a weakling and a fool.” The Scar Rabbit flattered, shaking his head, then disdainfully expressed what two scars would entail.

Ye Yanran’s mouth twitched, not wanting to speak.

Mu Hanfeng suddenly felt a bit regretful about the contract he just signed. This rabbit, no matter how capable, being so ridiculous... is that really okay?

”I’m very capable; you won’t regret signing a contract with me.” The Scar Rabbit evidently sensed Mu Hanfeng’s momentary emotion and patted his chest confidently.

”Since you’re so capable, you let Mu Hanfeng sign a contract with you without even a struggle?” Ye Yanran asked disdainfully, not believing the Scar Rabbit is so extraordinary. Even though he chased her around earlier, she hadn’t unleashed her true power, right?

”The master values me so much, randomly picks me up and signs. I can’t let the master’s trust down; I will definitely make the master proud.” The Scar Rabbit puffed up his chest.

”Alright, then from now on, you’ll forge ahead for me.” Mu Hanfeng said sternly, ”Now, go pick some edible wild fruits for me.”

”What?” The Scar Rabbit’s eyes widened. Forge ahead, isn’t that supposed to mean facing powerful enemies together? Picking fruits?

”Not sweet, don’t want.” Mu Hanfeng added.

The Scar Rabbit’s little eyes widened again.

”Going or not?” Mu Hanfeng’s voice suddenly turned chilly.

”Going, going, going!” The Scar Rabbit hopped away.

Mu Hanfeng calmly sat down to rest, feeling not the least bit embarrassed for sending a rabbit off to find fruits.

Ye Yanran settled down too, still resentful of the Scar Rabbit’s earlier attempt to take advantage of her.

From here, the two humans and one rabbit began their joyous adventure. (Not so joyful, says the Scar Rabbit.)

...

As for Mu Hanyan, she had no idea her brother had run into Ye Yanran. After shopping, she returned home, lazily preparing to eat and nap. As for the Supreme Elder Token, Mu Hanyan hadn’t considered returning it so soon. In the yard, she saw the three henchmen diligently cultivating. Mu Hanyan noticed especially Zirong; his current demeanor was vastly different compared to before. He used to be all smiles, full of antics, but now he seemed much more somber, concentrating purely on cultivation.

Mu Hanyan sighed gently inside, knowing it was due to his fiancée’s situation. She pondered for a moment, then headed to Mu Beichen’s courtyard. These days are passing, and still no word about Zirong’s fiancée?

When she met Mu Beichen, before she could speak, Mu Beichen spoke first, ”I know you’re here about your guard’s fiancée.”

”Yes, grandfather, Zirong’s fiancée, is there any news now?” Mu Hanyan asked worriedly.

”We are intensifying the investigation, don’t worry. There’ll be news very soon.” Mu Beichen assured her.

Mu Hanyan nodded. If grandfather says there’ll be news soon, that means likely very soon. Hopefully, it won’t be bad news.

Mu Beichen seemed to sense Mu Hanyan’s concern and added, ”No need to worry too much. According to our information, his fiancée should be safe now.”

”That’s good.” Mu Hanyan nodded, ”Then, grandfather, I’ll be heading back.” She said as she moved to leave.

”Wait.” Mu Beichen called out, ”It’s already noon, won’t you join grandfather for a meal?”

Mu Hanyan smiled and agreed, ”Sure.”

Mu Beichen had the servants set the table, and soon a spread was laid out. Mu Beichen and Mu Hanyan sat across from each other, starting to eat. As they ate, Mu Beichen spoke.

”Hanyan, can you tell me who exactly this Ye Lanfeng is?” Mu Beichen asked solemnly.

Mu Hanyan was slightly taken aback, then smiled, ”Grandfather, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you, but I honestly don’t know who he is either.”

”What? You don’t know either?” Mu Beichen was truly surprised, ”You don’t know yet you still...”
