Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 617: 617 wouldn’t it be fine if I slept with you?

This evening, aside from Jin Yuguang, who was covered in dust and filled with sorrow, everyone else rested well. The next morning, they continued their journey to Heishi City. It took several days before they returned to Cangshan City.

Seeing that it was getting late, Mu Hanyan decided to stay the night before departing, as they had a carriage for the return trip anyway and there was no need to exhaust themselves further by hurrying.

”Shopkeeper, six superior rooms please.” As they entered an inn, Mu Hanyan said to the shopkeeper who was dozing off at the counter.

”Right away, right away.” The shopkeeper quickly woke up and greeted them with a big smile.

Cangshan City was extremely remote. If it weren’t for the triennial trials held by Zhengying Academy, there would rarely be any business. Although just opening could sustain them for three years, it was still better to earn a bit of money whenever possible, as every little bit adds up.

Especially since these people were dressed impressively and asked for six superior rooms, he dared not neglect them.

”Why do we need six rooms, Brother Han Yan? I can just sleep with you,” Mu Cheng spoke up but suddenly felt a chill down his spine. Turning his head, he saw Ye Lanfeng’s face, dark as if it could drip water, and the cold aura emanating all around him.

”Forget I said anything. Six superior rooms, shopkeeper, hurry up.” Mu Cheng’s scalp tightened as he turned to urge the shopkeeper.

”Sure thing, sure thing,” the shopkeeper nodded happily.

”Hold on, we’ll take the whole inn.” Just then, an arrogant voice sounded.

About a dozen guards dressed as knights escorted a young man in, all exuding arrogance and not deigning to glance properly at Mu Hanyan and his group. They hadn’t noticed Ye Lanfeng and Jin Yuguang standing behind Mu Hanyan, both dressed in black cloaks with their heads bowed, their features obscured and their presence diminished.

”My apologies, young master, but these guests arrived first and reserved six superior rooms. How about you take the other rooms?” the shopkeeper suggested with a smile.

Mu Hanyan appreciatively looked at the shopkeeper, finding him not to be an opportunistic type. If it had been a greedy opportunistic fellow, they would have evicted the current guests at the mention of booking the whole inn.

This was Cangshan City, and aside from the triennial Zhengying Academy trials, they hardly ever saw such prestigious patrons in a century.

”Slap!” A loud slap landed on the shopkeeper’s face.

”Are you blind? There are over ten of us—how can your inn accommodate us all? We just wanted some peace and quiet, and you dare shove us together with these local bumpkins? Are you asking for trouble?” The guard who struck him cursed loudly.

Apparently, one slap wasn’t enough to relieve his anger, as he rushed up and kicked the shopkeeper several times.

Poor shopkeeper, with no cultivation to speak of, was no match for the guard who was at least a Seventh-level Knight, and quickly spewed several mouthfuls of dark blood before collapsing on the ground. It was only because the knight wasn’t intent on killing that the shopkeeper was still alive.

The young leader glanced impatiently at the shopkeeper who could not rise to his feet.

”My lord, don’t get angry. These country folks have never seen the world and don’t understand the rules of our great families. They’ll learn their place soon enough,” another guard said sycophantically.

Puffing out his chest, he pointed at Mu Hanyan and the others and said, ”And you, get out of here quickly, or don’t blame us for being rude.”
