Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Dorothy Bancroft was startled. Seeing the grim look on her Mommy’s face, she lowered her head, looking a little guilty.

”Who is this boy?”

Dorothy Bancroft didn’t dare to look up. She fidgeted with her fingers and stammered, ”He’s my groom.”

”What!”

”Mommy, he’s my groom. When Dorothy grows up, I’m going to marry him.”

Chloe Marshall pressed on, ”I asked what his name is.”

”Dylan.”

”What’s his last name?”

Dorothy Bancroft thought for a moment. ”His twin brother’s last name is Gu, so his must be Gu too, right?”

Chloe Marshall’s heart tightened. She then said, ”Dorothy, tonight, I’m going to beg Daddy to let me take you to school. Is that okay?”

”Of course!”

Chloe Marshall waited for the food to arrive. She picked at it for a few bites, but had no appetite to continue. She looked up and met Ethan Ellsworth’s gaze, a thousand unspoken words in her eyes.

’Is this feeling agony, or is it torture?’

Just as they were finishing their meal, Lillian Bancroft arrived.

He was draped in a long, black fox-fur cloak. He walked over and immediately pulled the standing Chloe back down into her seat.

”Why didn’t you wait for me?”

”Dorothy came home from school starving, so we came ahead. By the way, Silly, can I visit Dorothy’s kindergarten tomorrow?”

Lillian Bancroft paused. ”You want to go?”

Chloe Marshall nodded. ”I’d like to go see it.”

”We’ll talk about it later.” After speaking, he lowered his head to order.

Chloe Marshall already knew he would never let her leave the Imperial Palace, but this only strengthened her resolve to meet with Ethan Ellsworth tonight.

After Lillian Bancroft finished his dinner, he showed no intention of leaving right away.

”You’re not happy?”

Chloe Marshall shot back, ”Do you think I have any reason to be happy? I’m a person, not your private property.”

He reached out, his long, slender fingers gripping her chin.

His eyes rippled as he leaned closer to her. ”It’s because you won’t behave, Wife. If you were utterly devoted to me, would I have any need to do this?”

Chloe Marshall met his gaze. ”Things have already come to this. Nothing I say will change your mind about me, so why should I say anything more?”

His grip tightened slightly, making her chin ache.

”Wife, I think that since you can care so much for Dorothy, you can care for our child just the same. Take this month to get yourself healthy. Next month, I want you pregnant.”

His every word was not a suggestion, but a command.

Chloe Marshall could clearly see the decision in his eyes, and an attitude that brooked no opposition.

”You want to have a child with me?”

Lillian Bancroft slowly leaned toward her until their lips were barely an inch apart, so close they could feel each other’s breath.

”Mhm. Aren’t you happy?”

Chloe Marshall forcefully broke free from his grasp and immediately stood up. ”Dorothy, let’s go back and rest.”

But he grabbed her hand and, with a sharp tug, pulled her down into his lap.

The posture was surprisingly harmonious.

Dorothy Bancroft clapped her little hands. ”Daddy, Mommy, what are you two doing?”

Lillian Bancroft chuckled. ”Does Dorothy want a little brother or sister?”

”Of course I do!” Dorothy Bancroft’s eyes lit up. ’If I have a little brother or sister, will I finally have someone to play with here?’

Lillian Bancroft stood up, forcibly pulling Chloe Marshall with him. ”Since you want one, then let’s have Mommy give you another one, okay?”

”Yay, yay! Mommy, hurry up and give Dorothy a little sister.”

Chloe Marshall’s expression had turned completely cold. Suppressing the helplessness in her heart, she said to Dorothy Bancroft, ”Isn’t it good enough to just have you?”

Dorothy Bancroft shook her head. ”It’s so boring with just me.”

She really didn’t want to discuss this topic any further.

”Shall we go back and sleep now?”

”Okay.”

Lillian Bancroft stepped forward and hugged Dorothy, his own mood turning somewhat grim.

”Let’s go.”

They left the restaurant and headed for their quarters.

When they reached the door, she spoke up. ”Tonight, I’ll sleep with Dorothy. You can go back to your own bedroom.”

He strode inside, still carrying Dorothy, and placed the sleeping child on the bed.

Then, he stood up and walked toward her.

In the evening quiet, his footsteps were exceptionally clear.

Chloe Marshall struggled to control her emotions as she watched him.

”You have one month. Get your head straight. I’m giving you time, but I won’t indulge you indefinitely. After all, I am the Supreme Leader of this country. Countless people are watching my every move, and I cannot be without an heir. Wife, my next generation is a bet I’m placing on you. Give me a child. It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl. This is a last resort. If you truly loved me, perhaps we wouldn’t need a child to maintain our bond. Perhaps Dorothy could even be the next heir. But I have to make plans in advance.”

”You can have a child with another woman. I have no objection. Besides, aren’t you allowed to marry three wives?”

His expression tightened. ”You... you’re that eager to push me onto another woman?”

Although Chloe Marshall answered ’yes’ in her heart, she didn’t dare say it out loud. She knew the consequences of uttering that single word.

She didn’t dare take the risk.

’He’s so unpredictable now.’

Seeing her silence, a smile tugged at the corner of Lillian Bancroft’s lips. ”I almost forgot, we still owe ourselves a consummation. Have you forgotten? When my wet nurse told you to be with me, you tricked both her and me with a massage. Wife... how about we make up for it tonight?”

”That was so long ago. It’s truly amazing you still remember.”

He laughed and stepped forward; she backed away.

Then she turned and ran.

Lillian Bancroft laughed, watching her run without any hurry.

He followed behind her at a leisurely pace.

Finally, Chloe Marshall was too exhausted to run anymore. When she stopped, she found Lillian Bancroft standing right in front of her.

”I gave you a chance to run. You were just too slow.”

Chloe Marshall squatted there, her head lowered. ”Silly, please don’t force me, okay?”

He pulled her up, then swept her into his arms bridal-style.

Chloe Marshall struggled with all her might. She had a sinking feeling that nothing good was about to happen.

And in fact, she was right.

He carried her into another room, heading straight for the soft, wide bed.

When her struggles proved fruitless, Chloe Marshall gave up.

”Do you really have to do this?”

He slowly laid her flat on the bed, then braced his arms on either side of her body, looking down at her.

”No one can stop me from doing what I want to do. It only depends on whether I want to do it or not.”

She closed her eyes.

She said nothing more.

He slowly lowered himself, and just as their lips were about to touch, Chloe Marshall felt him stop.

She slowly opened her eyes and met his devilishly handsome gaze.

’A face like that... any other woman would have long since lost all ability to resist.’

But she was different.

”Go back and get some sleep.” He moved away from her and said.

Chloe Marshall sat up, shot him a glance, and walked out the door.
