Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

”Even if you didn’t tell me, did you really think I wouldn’t be able to find you?” Leon Lynch suddenly smiled.

Nora Ainsworth’s heart skipped a beat. ’That’s exactly what I was thinking.’

Leon’s eyes traveled downwards, and his smile froze. ”You’re pregnant?”

Nora Ainsworth nodded, then walked inside. ”Come on in.”

Leon pulled his suitcase inside and closed the door behind him.

Nora Ainsworth poured him a cup of tea. Seeing his suitcase, she asked subconsciously, ”Are you planning on settling down here?”

He sat down and cleared his throat. ”I wouldn’t go so far as to say settling down. But you’re here, and I plan on staying for a while. You’re not going to welcome me?”

”What about your company?”

”My old man isn’t that old yet.”

Nora Ainsworth let out a long breath. ”Leon, you—”

”Don’t.” He cut her off. ”I know what you’re going to say, but don’t get the wrong idea. I came here just as a good friend. Nora, don’t be so quick to push people away. I’m not that scary.”

Hearing this, Nora Ainsworth smiled. ”Who said you were scary? You’re overthinking things. It just so happens there’s a spare room here. You can have the one next door.”

Leon wheeled his suitcase over, opened the window to air the room out, then unpacked his clothes and hung them up. He then got a quilt and mattress pad from Nora Ainsworth’s room and made the bed. Only then did he turn to her and say, ”You don’t go out much, do you?”

”How did you know?”

He smiled faintly. ”It’s obvious. Come on, let’s go for a walk.”

”I was already planning to go out tonight. I want to go to the hospital for a prenatal check-up to see how the baby’s doing.”

”Perfect. I’ll go with you.”

He stepped forward and took her hand.

Nora Ainsworth tried to pull away, but he stopped her with a word. ”What’s the big deal? We’re just holding hands.”

They left the apartment building.

”I remember now.” She stopped and faced him. ”You installed a tracker on my phone, and it’s always been on. That’s how you found me so precisely.”

Leon laughed. ”It took you this long to figure it out? I told you about it a long time ago.”

Nora Ainsworth turned and started walking again, her voice calm. ”Leon, I feel like fate has been playing tricks on me.”

His face paled slightly. ”Rather than playing tricks on you, I’d say it’s been even crueler to me.”

Nora Ainsworth’s mood lightened, and she walked on cheerfully. ”But none of that matters anymore. The important thing is that life isn’t as scary as I imagined.”

The two of them walked to the hospital entrance together and registered for an appointment.

They went to the gynecology department to get a request form, paid the fee, and then went into the ultrasound room.

Inside, there was only one doctor, a woman in her thirties.

When she saw Nora come in, she asked, ”Where’s your form?”

Nora Ainsworth dutifully handed it to her. The doctor took it, glanced at it, and then stared at Nora’s belly. ”You look much bigger than you should for how many months you are. Almost like you’re six or seven months along.”

Nora Ainsworth looked down at her own bulging belly, not understanding what the doctor meant.

”Is it because the baby is growing too fast?”

The doctor sat in her chair. ”Just lie down over there, let me take a look.”

Nora Ainsworth nodded and obediently lay down, lifting her shirt to expose her belly.

The doctor began the examination. A moment later, she said with a flash of realization, ”No wonder your belly looks so big. You’re carrying twins.”

Nora Ainsworth’s eyes lit up, filled with disbelief. ”Twins?”

”Yes, both babies are developing very healthily. Everything’s fine. Just try to stay happy and eat plenty of nutritious food.”

The doctor looked down and wrote out the examination report. Nora Ainsworth wanted to ask if they were a boy and a girl, or two girls, or two boys. But then she remembered that hospitals forbid asking about the gender of the babies, so she didn’t. ’Boy or girl, they’re still my children, aren’t they?’

When she had wanted a child so badly, she could never get pregnant. After overcoming so many obstacles, she had finally conceived by a miracle. It was someone else’s uterus, but it was inside her own body.

She was so grateful to the young woman who had willingly donated it to her, not only making her dream come true but also giving her two babies at once—two new family members in her life!

Nora Ainsworth’s eyes grew moist, and soon, tears were streaming down her face. Her heart was filled with both relief and sorrow. For her, this feeling was a form of torture.

For some reason, Leon Lynch smiled too. He crouched beside her and looked up. ”Nora, you should be happy. Why are you crying?”

She smiled through her tears and nodded vigorously. ”Mhm.”

On the way back, he took her to the supermarket.

He bought a lot of nutritious vegetables and meat. Nora Ainsworth told him not to buy so much, but he wouldn’t listen, insisting, ”Even if you don’t eat it, the babies in your belly have to.”

Hearing this, she had no choice but to let him be.

Leon Lynch, who had rarely ever cooked, looked surprisingly like he knew what he was doing in the kitchen.

”Hey, do you actually know what you’re doing?”

He turned back, flashing a brilliant, confident smile. ”You’ve never tried me, so how would you know I’m no good?”

Nora Ainsworth’s face flushed red, and she turned and fled from the kitchen doorway.

He grinned like a Cheshire cat.

And what do you know, when Nora Ainsworth sat down at the table waiting for dinner, Leon Lynch served up his masterpiece. Although its appearance was nothing special—in fact, it looked a bit like a train wreck—Nora still decided to give it a try.

After all, even if it wasn’t good, he deserved credit for trying.

To her surprise, it actually tasted quite good. She couldn’t help but give him a thumbs-up and nod repeatedly. ”Leon, this is really good. You’d be the perfect candidate for a house husband.”

He sat down, looking unconcerned. ”I have no desire to be some ’perfect house husband.’ A golden boy like me, in the kitchen every day? I only forced myself to do it because it was for you.”

Seeing her stunned expression, he grinned. ”But, as long as you like it, I’ll cook for you every day, okay?”

Nora Ainsworth thought this was wonderful. Her own cooking skills weren’t great—barely passable, really. Since he had volunteered, how could she refuse such a kind offer?

”Of course that’s okay. It’s perfect, actually. You’re staying in my house, so you can be the chef for free. You have to eat too, after all. It’s fair and reasonable.”

Leon Lynch didn’t object. ”You’re precious cargo now. You should stay away from the cooking fumes. I’ll handle everything, and I’ll be here with you. I don’t care what you say, when the babies are born, they have to have me as their godfather. Do you agree?”

Nora Ainsworth pressed her lips together and nodded at him. ”Okay, I’ll allow it. But if the children, when they’re old enough to understand, don’t want you, I can’t do anything about that.”

He was full of confidence. ”Whatever the two kids want, I’ll buy it for them. Kids are easy, a few gifts and they’ll be on my side.”

Nora Ainsworth paused. Suddenly, the image of two small faces appeared in her mind—fair-skinned, chubby, with babbling little voices. ’Who will the children look like?’

’Will they look like him? Will they look a lot like him?’

Her expression dimmed.
