Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Mrs. Grant waved her hand. ”Go on, now.”

Jean Grant skipped out of the Grant Residence, her steps light and cheerful. She had felt happy these past few months with Nicholas Ainsworth.

The only stumbling block was the child in her belly.

The reason she had just warned Catherine Callahan was simply because she, too, was now a pregnant woman.

Something she had only just found out.

She had decided to go to the hospital and get rid of the child after dinner tonight.

Because she wasn’t sure if the baby belonged to Nicholas Ainsworth or Marlon Marshall. In a situation like this, she’d rather destroy it needlessly than take the risk.

She would rather get rid of it than bear that risk.

As for Marlon Marshall, she felt he was ancient history.

She didn’t want to bring him up again. Whether he was dead or alive had nothing to do with her.

The past two or three months had been remarkably peaceful. It would have been even better without this baby in her belly, whose father was a mystery.

She arrived at the place Nicholas Ainsworth had chosen. They had a lovely meal together, after which she made an excuse about having something to do and left right away.

After disguising herself, she went to the hospital, registered, and underwent a surgical abortion.

The memory of her last induced abortion was still painfully fresh.

The last time, they hadn’t used any anesthesia, and the pain had been excruciating. This time, she insisted on a local anesthetic.

But she hadn’t expected that even with a local anesthetic, her sensitive body would still feel pain.

The pain was agonizing. She clenched her teeth and endured it, her heart filled with immense regret.

The procedure was over quickly. She struggled off the operating table and hurried away, not daring to linger, not even staying for an IV drip.

Back home, lying in bed, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

As she lay there, she suddenly felt that she was bleeding rather heavily.

She got up again to check.

Jean was startled. She quickly changed her underwear, put on a sanitary pad, and then lay back down.

In the middle of the night, she was jolted awake by the ringing of the phone.

It was the landline.

She slowly got out of bed to answer it.

”Hello?”

”Jean, it’s me.” It was Marlon Marshall’s voice.

Jean’s heart leaped. ”Why are you calling again? Why can’t you just leave me alone!”

”Jean, I’m at your front gate.”

”At my front gate? You think you can get in? I have bodyguards!”

Marlon Marshall snorted. ”Bodyguards or not, I can still get in. Are you going to open the door for me, or do I let myself in?”

Jean immediately hung up. She ignored him, seeing him as nothing but a mad dog.

She lay back down and tried to sleep. An hour or so later, just as she was about to drift off, she heard a sound.

She slowly sat up and saw a figure walking toward her.

Jean flicked on the light and saw that it was indeed Marlon Marshall, standing right in front of her.

”Hel—” The word hadn’t even left her mouth before he clamped his hand over it forcefully.

Jean struggled desperately, but it was no use.

Marlon Marshall grunted, threw back the covers, and climbed in. ”Go ahead and scream. Let your bodyguards see what you and I are up to.”

”On your period?”

Jean nodded.

”Even if you’re on your period, that’s not going to stop me from fucking you.”

Jean bit down hard on his hand. He yelped in pain and his hand flew back, only to swing around and slap her across the face.

”Marlon, I just had an abortion. Don’t touch me,” she said, her body limp.

”An abortion?!” This undoubtedly provoked Marlon. ”You bitch! If you hadn’t gotten that abortion, my son would have been born soon!”

Jean retorted, ”How can you blame me for that? You’re the one who betrayed your family!”

Marlon’s face twisted with fury. ”It’s all my fault, is it? You’ve done nothing wrong, right?”

”Marlon, if you dare touch me now, tomorrow I’ll have my brother release the video of your mother with that other man!”

It would have been better not to mention it. The moment she did, he completely lost it.

He slapped her twice across the face. ”Say that to me one more fucking time!”

Jean clutched her face and tried to get out of bed, but he grabbed a nearby bra and used it to tie her hands.

”I don’t give a damn if the sky falls tomorrow. No one is stopping me from doing what I want to do right now! If you expose my mom tomorrow, I’ll expose you. Go ahead! You expose her, and I’ll make sure you’re on the front page. We’ll see who the media cares about more: my mom, or the daughter of the Grant family! I’ve got nothing to lose anyway!”

When he became reckless and threw all caution to the wind, he was terrifying.

Because there was nothing left to restrain him.

”That’s your mother! You need to think clearly, she’s the one who gave birth to you and raised you!”

Marlon had gone completely insane at this point. He bit down on her lips. The pain was so intense Jean felt like he was going to bite them clean off.

But she didn’t dare make a sound. If the bodyguards downstairs saw this, she would die of shame.

It was this very fear that allowed Marlon to act so brazenly.

He forcefully ripped off her underwear, and the metallic scent of blood from the damp stain immediately filled the air.

Jean was furious. ”I just had an abortion! Don’t touch me!”

But Marlon clearly had no regard for her physical condition. His mind was clouded by rage.

Jean had already passed out.

Marlon used a silent parachute to descend from the second-floor window into the yard of the house behind Jean’s villa.

Because the house had long been uninhabited, it had become the perfect shortcut for Marlon to enter Jean’s bedroom without being spotted by the bodyguards.

Before leaving, he didn’t forget to go through Jean’s wallet and take a wad of cash. He also took her earrings and the very necklace from around her neck.

He left the upscale neighborhood.

Marlon took a car and, for once, didn’t go to the casino. He had racked up hundreds of thousands in debt these past few days and hadn’t dared to show his face there.

He returned to the home he shared with just Mrs. Marshall.

He stuck the key in the door. The living room was silent.

Marlon called out, ”Mom?”

There was no answer. He called out a few more times, but still, no one replied, so he pushed open the door to Mrs. Marshall’s room.

He flipped on the light. The room was empty.

Marlon immediately called her, but no one picked up.

She only answered on the third try.

”Mom, where are you?”

Mrs. Marshall stammered for a moment before saying, ”I’m already in bed. What’s wrong?”

”I’m standing in your room. Where exactly are you sleeping?”

Hearing this, Mrs. Marshall was shocked. She never expected her son to come home tonight!

She said, ”I’m at the supermarket. I’ll be home soon.”

She hung up after speaking.

She threw on her clothes and rushed home, stopping by the supermarket to buy some food on the way. When she opened the door, she saw him sitting on the sofa.

”Drake.”

”Did you go see that man again?”

Mrs. Marshall flatly denied it. ”No. I don’t have any money right now, how could I go see anyone?”

”Sooner or later, someone’s going to post your dirty laundry online for everyone to see. What a disgrace.”
