Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Jean Grant looked chagrined. ”Quentin, is it really just because of some woman? Are you never going to forgive Mom?”

Quentin Grant’s expression was forlorn as he looked at her. ”For someone as starved for affection as you, you wouldn’t understand. Go back and tell her to stop sending people over.”

He rounded his desk, walked past Jean Grant, and headed for the door.

Jean Grant hurried after him.

”Quentin, can’t you just come home for dinner?”

Quentin Grant pressed the elevator button, stepped inside with one hand in his pocket, and she followed, standing beside him.

”Quentin! I came all this way. If you won’t do it for Mom’s sake, at least do it for mine, okay?”

He sneered. ”And what makes you think you have any say in the matter?”

Jean Grant was taken aback. ”I may not have any clout, but I’ve got integrity.”

Quentin Grant didn’t say another word. As soon as the elevator doors opened, he strode out and said to her, ”Stop following me. If you ever dare to come to me about this again, I guarantee you won’t even make it through the front doors.”

Jean Grant pressed on, ”So, Quentin, where are you going?”

”None of your business.” Quentin Grant walked quickly, soon exiting the Grant Group Tower and driving away.

Having failed her mission, Jean Grant had no choice but to return to the Grant Estate.

Seeing her return alone, Mrs. Grant knew he wasn’t with her.

”What did your brother say?”

Jean Grant sat down. ”What do you think he said? He told me if I come looking for him over this again, I won’t even be allowed in the company building. Anyway, I can tell he’s dead serious this time. No fooling around.”

Mrs. Grant snorted. ”He’s all grown up and thinks he can fly on his own now. I’m the one who gave birth to him, and now he dares to challenge me.”

”Mom, Quentin is just being stubborn. Given time, he’ll realize what’s truly important. Besides, they aren’t together anymore, and you’ve ordered a full-scale crackdown on Nora Ainsworth. I imagine her life isn’t easy right now.”

Mrs. Grant said triumphantly, ”She’d better not be having an easy time. That’s the price she pays for daring to lecture me. A little brat like her, trying to teach a master her own trade. She has no idea who she’s dealing with.”

Jean Grant said, ”Mom, Nora Ainsworth is just a woman. By doing this, aren’t you backing her into a corner? I don’t think Quentin knows yet. He seemed calm today, but if he finds out, he’ll only come back to raise hell with you.”

”So what if he raises hell? He’s still my son. What can he possibly do to me?”

Jean Grant stood up. ”I’m going home. And don’t give me any more errands like this.”

Mrs. Grant called out to her retreating back, ”I ask you to do one thing and you’re already unhappy. Looks like I’ll have to rely on my daughter-in-law from now on.”

Jean’s voice came from a distance, ”Whatever. You were always planning on relying on Callahan, not me.”

「Leaving the Grant Estate.」

Jean Grant drove back to her upscale apartment complex.

She had just opened the car door, not yet out of the vehicle, when someone seized the opportunity to shove her over into the passenger seat.

Jean Grant took a closer look. ’Isn’t that Marlon Marshall, the man the police took away this morning?’

’How is he already out?’

”Marlon! You... get out of my car!”

Marlon pulled the door shut. ”I’ve been waiting for you for a long time. You thought I’d be locked up for a few days, didn’t you? Knew you’d think that.”

Jean Grant tried to open the passenger-side door, but it was locked tight.

”I’m warning you, don’t try anything funny. We’re right at the entrance to my building.”

Marlon gave a cold smile. ”So what if we’re at your building’s entrance? Believe it or not, right here in front of everyone, I could—”

Jean Grant forced herself to stay calm. ”What do you want?”

”I don’t want anything. Just wanted to have a little chat with you.”

’The last thing she wanted was to see his face.’

”Marlon, believe me, if you dare to lay a hand on me again, I’ll have my brother make you regret it!”

”But he’s not here right now, is he?”

He reclined the passenger seat and pinned her down on it.

”You’re a monster! Marrying a psycho like you is the biggest regret of my life!”

”Too bad you can’t turn back time.”

Jean Grant couldn’t move. She could only watch helplessly, unable to stop him as he had his way with her.

A malicious grin spread across his face.

”Stop it!”

”Go on, scream louder if you want to attract an audience for a live show. I’m shameless, my reputation isn’t worth a dime. But you... you’re a different story, aren’t you?”

Jean Grant bit down hard, showing a flicker of defiance, and refused to make a sound.

He suddenly switched on the car’s dome light.

Then, he took out his phone. From his angle, he forcefully snapped a picture of where they were connected, and another one of Jean Grant’s face.

”What are you doing!”

”What am I doing? Saving these for when you’re not behaving, of course,” Marlon laughed. ”When I’m done having my fun, you’ll give me 500,000 yuan. If you don’t, I’ll post these pictures of you on the forums tonight.”

Jean Grant said nothing. ’She wouldn’t give him another dime!’

’He could threaten her all he wanted!’

’In a little while, whether he could even walk away would be another question entirely!’

The light went out again, and everything was quiet.

Every time he forced himself on her like this, Jean Grant’s disgust for him reached its absolute limit.

’She decided she was going to teach him a lesson he’d never forget.’

However, she didn’t realize that while Marlon had only wanted money and didn’t actually intend to expose their situation, what she did next would be the thing that drove him completely insane.

The two of them got out of the car. The moment Jean Grant opened the main gate to her property, she instantly dispatched all of her Men in Black, who caught Marlon before he had even reached the complex entrance and dragged him back.

He was forcibly dragged into the courtyard.

They gagged him, tied him to a long bench, and, on her orders, began to viciously beat his legs with thick wooden clubs.

Marlon never imagined Jean Grant would be this ruthless.

Club after club rained down on his legs, the pain causing the veins on his forehead to throb and bulge.

After countless blows, Marlon finally passed out from the pain, slumping over motionless.

”Miss, any more and he’ll be crippled.”

”Keep going. Break both his legs! Beat him harder!”

’She didn’t want to kill him, only because she didn’t want any more trouble. But with Marlon, she had reached the end of her rope.’

’He just kept coming back, asking for it again and again.’

’Did he really think he was untouchable? Did he really think she wouldn’t dare to do anything to him?’

The Men in Black secretly dumped Marlon back at his home. They tossed a million yuan at Mrs. Marshall and forced her to sign an agreement, sealed with her fingerprint, promising not to expose the matter. Otherwise, she wouldn’t get the money.
