Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 646: Chapter 646: True and False Daughters of Nobility 39

People only have one heart, and the hospital’s policy is that living people cannot donate their hearts.

After Lin Zhenfei found out he needed a heart transplant to survive, he became fearful, terrified, paranoid, and crazy.

He grabbed a porcelain cup and smashed it on a caregiver’s head, then snatched a pair of scissors from a nurse and stabbed her hand. He made a huge scene at the hospital, crying and yelling, refusing to believe there was something wrong with his heart.

But he hadn’t caused a scene for long before he was gasping for air, his face turning purple, and then he fainted.

The more afraid Lin Zhenfei got, the crazier he became.

The more he caused a scene, the worse his condition became.

A month later, he had become emaciated, and his spirit was weak to the point of almost being non-existent. He no longer had the strength to cause a scene.

He started pleading with Wang Caihua, ”Mom, please save me. I don’t want to die yet. I’m only in my twenties; I’m still young. Mom, I beg you, help your son, please.”

He was crying, with tears and snot all over his face.

Wang Caihua, heartbroken, hugged her son and sobbed, ”Zhenfei, don’t worry. Mom will definitely save you. I’ve already put you on the list. You’ll soon get a healthy heart.”

”My poor Zhenfei, why are you so unfortunate? Why do so many illnesses have to afflict you? You don’t know how it pains me.”

Lin Zhenfei shook his head desperately, ”It’s useless, Mom. I’ve asked the people at the hospital. Patients in my situation sometimes wait until they die and still don’t get a heart. Mom, I’m your only son. Please save me. You don’t want to see your son die so young, do you?”

Wang Caihua was pained, but with no heart available, there was nothing she could do.

A heart isn’t like a liver or kidney; she could still live after donating one of those to her son. A person only has one heart. If she gave it to her son, she would be dead.

Wang Caihua loved her son dearly, but she didn’t love him enough to sacrifice her own life.

By nature, Wang Caihua was selfish. She was willing to donate her liver and kidney to Lin Zhenfei before because she could still survive afterwards.

Moreover, her secure position as Mrs. Lin relied on the fact that she bore a son.

The status of a mother is elevated by her son.

If her son died, she’s afraid she’d have to step down from her position as Mrs. Lin.

A kidney or a liver, compared to being Mrs. Lin, clearly the position of Mrs. Lin was more important.

But now, compared to her life and her son’s life, her life was obviously more important.

Wang Caihua was very clear on this, so no matter how much Lin Zhenfei cried and pleaded, bowing and kowtowing, she refused to give him her heart.

It’s not like Wang Caihua hadn’t tried to contact Lin Guowen. Knowing full well that Lin Guowen would make the same choice as she did, she still went to the Lin Group to find him.

But Lin Guowen was expanding the market abroad and couldn’t come back anytime soon.

She couldn’t reach him by phone either, so Wang Caihua gave up on the idea of finding Lin Guowen.

In truth, she had long known that Lin Guowen had an illegitimate child outside and that he no longer cared about his eldest son, Lin Zhenfei.

Perhaps she and her son had long been abandoned by Lin Guowen.

Wang Caihua endured her husband’s betrayal and her son’s suffering, accompanying her son in the hospital while secretly preparing herself for being kicked out of the family by Lin Guowen.
