Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 603: Chapter 603: The Original Female Lead’s Comeback 38

The Yan Family lived in the bustling center of Beijing, in Yuan Chun’s favorite courtyard house. Knowing that Yan Hui would bring his wife home today, Mr. Yan, Mrs. Yan, and Second Brother Yan specially took a day off to welcome the couple.

From afar, Yuan Chun saw a group of people standing at the Yan Family’s doorstep.

As soon as the car stopped, Mr. and Mrs. Yan rushed forward. Watching his son’s face, Mr. Yan said with heartache, ”You’ve lost weight, gotten tanned, but you look sturdier now.”

Mrs. Yan warmly and enthusiastically took Yuan Chun, who had just gotten out of the car, by the hand, ”You must be Xiao Hui’s wife. I’m your mom, very welcome home.”

Smiling, Yuan Chun greeted, ”Hello, Mom. I am Yan Hui’s wife, my name is Xia Yuan Chun.”

”Oh my, that’s great, that’s great. Mom is doing well, it’s just that you and Xiao Hui must have had a hard time doing farm work all these years; your hands have become rough.”

”Mom, it’s not hard for us to contribute to the country’s rural development.”

”Good girl, come, come with Mom inside. I’ve cooked braised pork knuckles, they’re simmered till almost melting, and they smell wonderful.”

”Thank you, Mom. You’ve worked hard.”

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were happily chatting, forgetting everyone else.

Seeing this, Mr. Yan abandoned his younger son and followed them into the courtyard, eagerly looking at his youngest daughter-in-law, speaking with a tinge of envy, ”Third son’s wife, I’m Dad. Knowing you were coming home today, I took a day off to help your mom. We’ve prepared lots of delicious food.”

If it weren’t for memories from my two lives, Yuan Chun wouldn’t have recognized this eager-to-please middle-aged man in front of her as the big boss of Beijing.

She respectfully called out, ”Dad, thank you for your hard work.”

”Oh, it’s no trouble at all—no trouble at all. Just make sure you eat plenty later,” Mr. Yan said, smiling gently at his wife, while Mrs. Yan pursed her lips and led Yuan Chun inside, taking her to one of the rooms. ”Xiao Hui’s wife, this is Xiao Hui’s room. Knowing he got married, we’ve added some furniture in here for you. I hope you like it.”

A brand new double bed, a new solid wood four-door wardrobe, a vanity table, one old and one new study desk. It was obvious the new desk was specially for Yuan Chun. There were also two old chests, a set of six and five-drawer chests placed side by side.

A solid wood coat rack.

With a grateful smile, Yuan Chun said, ”Thank you, Mom, I really like it.”

”Glad you like it. If it’s not enough, just tell Mom, and I’ll take you shopping,” Mrs. Yan’s eyes couldn’t hide the joy and affection she felt.

Mr. and Mrs. Yan both liked daughters, but Mrs. Yan only gave birth to three sons, and even injured her body when giving birth to Yan Hui, so she couldn’t have more children. The couple always regretted not having a daughter.

Mrs. Yan would admire daughters from other families, wanting to bring them home whenever she saw a cute one. Yan Hui, when he was small, was often raised as a daughter by Mrs. Yan.

Mrs. Yan even treasured photos of Yan Hui when he was young, wearing skirts and having braided hair.

As their three sons grew older, Mr. and Mrs. Yan thought that while they didn’t have a daughter, having a granddaughter would be nice. But, Eldest Brother Yan and Second Brother Yan were nearing thirty and still didn’t want to get married, which added extra lines of worry to their parents’ brows.

The Yan parents never expected that while their two elder sons nearby hadn’t married, their youngest son, who went to the countryside as an educated youth, actually got married. If it weren’t for both Mr. and Mrs. Yan being tied to their jobs, they would have gone to the countryside to see their daughter-in-law long ago.

If they couldn’t have a daughter, treating the daughter-in-law as a daughter was just as good.

The original owner was pretty, with a gentle demeanor of a proper young lady. Under Yuan Chun’s special care recently, her skin had improved, becoming delicate and tender. Mrs. Yan immediately took a liking to her.

She held her youngest daughter-in-law’s hand, reluctant to let go.
