The Yellow-Haired Villain in Soaring Phoenix's Novels Also Desires Happiness

That sharp voice also pulled Landa back from her earlier confusion. She, too, lowered her head and looked at the old woman she had just stabbed at least twenty times.

“Grand... ma? Marcie’s grandma?”

She felt that her already insufficient little brain had grown dizzy again.

“Grandma, why are you here?”

At this moment, Marcie had no spare attention left to care about Landa beside her. The little boat of friendship was not worth mentioning in the face of her current shock.

Especially when she saw the knife wounds on the old woman’s body. Rage filled Marcie’s heart almost instantly. If not for the fact that she had too many questions right now, Marcie would definitely have picked up a hoe and directly fought the bastard who dared hurt her grandma with her life.

But...

But...

So strange...

“Grandma? Why are you here? Weren’t you... in the village?” Marcie’s voice trembled slightly. She worked hard to keep herself from looking at those wounds, from looking at that clearly abnormal pitch-black blood flowing out.

“It’s little Marcie...”

Grandma Meg raised her head with her expression as normal as ever and said, “Silly child, why can’t Grandma be here? All of you are here celebrating the light, so naturally, Grandma had to come over and take a look too.”

“But this place is so far from our village. How did you get here? And why were you with Landa? Didn’t she go to bury Lord Bear King?”

Countless questions surged into Marcie’s heart.

She could not understand, and she did not want to understand.

She only subconsciously reached out, wanting to pull up her grandma, who was lying on the ground in such a sorry state.

“Marcie!”

Muen roared, “Don’t touch her!”

Marcie’s hand shrank back.

And at this moment, Grandma Meg also reached out her hand. Seeing this, she looked at Marcie in confusion.

“What’s wrong? After not seeing each other for a while, does little Marcie dislike Grandma too?”

“No... I don’t...”

Marcie shook her head hard.

Her reason was telling her to reach out, because the person before her was her grandma. She was the grandma who had taken care of her since she was small, who had always been so gentle toward her. She was her only family in this world.

If she did not reach out at a time like this, then when should she?

But her instinct told her not to.

It was as if a venomous snake was currently coiled around her neck, hissing and flicking out its tongue, letting that coldness gradually seep into her bones.

Danger. Extremely dangerous.

The venomous snake gave such a warning.

“Marcie!”

Muen could no longer care about so much. He directly stepped forward, grabbed Marcie with one hand and Landa with the other, hiding both of them behind himself.

“She is not your grandma!”

“But...”

“She isn’t! She’s fake!”

Whether she was or was not, at a time like this, Muen could only say that.

His expression was grave as he stared at this old woman, this old woman called Grandma Meg.

He still remembered that when he had come to this Annabawei, the first person he encountered had been this old woman.

“I never imagined that I would actually misjudge someone.”

Muen’s heart was heavy. When he had just entered this Annabawei, he had undoubtedly been at his most vigilant. So when he had encountered this Grandma Meg back then, he had probed her countless times, openly and secretly.

But no matter how he probed, the result at the time had told him... she was merely an ordinary person.

It was precisely because of that that he had relaxed his guard, stayed at Grandma Meg’s house, come to Rabuya City together with Marcie, and thus had all the stories that followed now.

From the perspective at the time, everything had been perfectly natural, without any abnormality.

But when this old woman appeared before him, Muen suddenly realized... some of his actions seemed to be filled with traces of arrangement.

He had been arranged all along the way to come to Rabuya, become a Pioneer, and help the people here kill the Goddess of Night.

Then Miss Dragon would descend, destroy everything, and the entire Annabawei would cease to exist.

—If he had not done those stupid things, this was probably the original script.

“Who exactly are you?”

Through the contact of his palm, Muen could clearly sense Marcie’s confusion and bewilderment. After all, with just his few words, there was no way Marcie could so easily convince herself.

Even Muen was extremely confused... Miss Andri had said she was an old acquaintance from eight hundred years ago. A normal person could not possibly live for eight hundred years. Then this so-called Grandma Meg—was it her true nature hidden for so long finally revealed, or was it a dove occupying a magpie’s nest?

“Who am I? Did I not once introduce myself before, Mr. Muen?”

Grandma Meg rose tremblingly from the ground. Her movements were very slow, completely the posture of an elderly person in her twilight years.

But as she stood, the wounds Landa had desperately stabbed into her body recovered at a speed visible to the naked eye. By the time she had completely risen, those injuries had almost fully healed.

This scene made Marcie’s face grow even paler—she had never known that her grandma, already past seventy, possessed such tenacious vitality!

“I am nothing more than an ordinary old woman,” Grandma Meg said.

“Ordinary? Ordinary people don’t appear here.”

Muen sneered. Behind him, Landa also tightly clutched the hem of his clothes, her voice carrying a sobbing tone:

“She was bewitching me. She wanted me to hurt that person, and said she could make Lord Theresa come back to life.”

“Bewitching? Why does this routine feel so familiar? Which Evil God are you under?”

“You are all truly misunderstanding me. I have no intention of harming anyone, nor will I destroy anything. In fact, quite the opposite. I came to save you.”

Grandma Meg still looked the same as when Muen had first met her, her face full of kindness.

“Save?”

Muen’s gaze turned slightly cold. “There is no one here who needs you to save them right now. Annabawei has already been saved.”

“Ha... Mr. Muen, there is no need to keep saying such foolish words. Been saved? How could that be possible... As long as this great calamity is still here, Annabawei cannot possibly be saved. In the end, she will still destroy this place.

“Wouldn’t you agree... Andri?”

Grandma Meg easily called out the Goddess of Night’s name. She turned her head to look at her, her expression both mocking and pitying.

“You should understand all of that better than anyone, just as I do. You also experienced the disaster of Tars. You were also one of the few people who survived that desperate catastrophe with difficulty... But you—why would you choose such a cowardly path? Dragging out an ignoble existence? What use is that?”

“Priscilla!”

The Goddess of Night was first horrified, and now, obvious panic and fear surfaced in her eyes.

“You are Priscilla! You are actually still alive!”

“It seems you still recognize me. That is wonderful. Eight hundred years have passed. I thought you had already completely immersed yourself in this laughable game of playing house and forgotten everything.”

Grandma Meg smiled, and her gaze turned once more.

She looked toward the false divine throne, or rather, toward Miss Dragon upon the throne.

Hamreign had also completely opened her eyes. The molten-gold dragon pupils shimmered, and the old woman’s appearance was reflected in that golden majesty... she seemed to be recalling something.

“Big Sister Dragon, do you still remember me? Do you remember me, this small remnant of Tars?”

Grandma Meg once again called out that gentle form of address. Muen remembered that Andri had called her that too.

“Of course.”

Hamreign paused for a moment. “My memory has always been good.”

“That is wonderful.”

Grandma Meg clapped her hands joyfully. “I was afraid that as a noble person of high standing, you might be too forgetful, and might have forgotten all that hatred entirely. That would not do. Though you have killed far, far too many people, there should still be someone who left a deep impression on you, should there not?”

“So you came to throw yourself into the net, Priscilla?”

Hamreign arrogantly lifted her chin slightly, looking as if she had no excessive reaction to this old acquaintance from eight hundred years ago.

“I had not yet gone to find you, yet you jumped out on your own. That saves me a great deal of trouble.”

“No, no, no. I already said that I came to save this place... After all, Andri and I were once the very best of friends. How could I watch helplessly as she fell into the claws of the devil again? Everything I did before was only to grant her release.”

Grandma Meg said:

“Whether it is her or Annabawei, I will lend a hand.”

“Lend a hand? How do you intend to help?”

Muen stood between Grandma Meg and Miss Dragon.

Inwardly, he thought this was bad.

His intuition told him that it would be best not to drag Miss Dragon into the current situation. Otherwise, the direction of the story might very well go directly out of control!

For Annabawei, Miss Dragon was far too powerful. Her every move might directly collapse the situation Muen had painstakingly maintained before!

“Whatever it is, why not talk to me about it? Right now, I am the one in charge of Annabawei.”

“In charge? Why didn’t I know this place had become a dictatorship?”

“Annabawei now places divine authority above all else... and as it happens, the god originally in charge here just retired, so I can only have a young person like myself step up and fill the position for a while.”

Muen narrowed his eyes, and his aura gradually became unfriendly. He did not want to say too much to the fellow before him, but he truly could not quite grasp the other party’s true details.

After all, she was an existence from eight hundred years ago, and he still did not know her strength. If she turned out to be on the level of another old-school Crowned-rank, he would not be able to bear it.

He did not want to rush forward full of hot blood... only to then get beaten into paste.

That would be a fatal blow to his “divine majesty.”

“Ha. What fine divine authority above all else. A cowardly, timid false god, and a young god who still has no power. You two think that with this... you can save Annabawei from that evil dragon’s hands? Isn’t that far too laughable?” Grandma Meg sneered.

“That is none of your concern. I will naturally find a way.”

“You say it so lightly. But how could I possibly not concern myself with it? The Goddess is merciful. She could not bear to see Annabawei repeat Tars’s fate from eight hundred years ago, so She sent me to save all of you... Why do you ignorant ones refuse to appreciate it?”

“Goddess?”

Muen froze, then glanced to the side.

How strange. The Goddess of Night had only just retired from the job, so how had another Goddess suddenly popped out?

Did Annabawei have that many Goddesses?

Huh? Wait.

If he remembered correctly, Annabawei did indeed have another “Goddess.”

That one...

“That’s right! It is the great Goddess of Light!”

Grandma Meg raised both hands, calling out as if announcing a blessing:

“Everyone of Annabawei, please look upon this! The Goddess of Light pities the suffering all of you have endured, and has specially had me come to bestow true grace and save you from this sea of bitterness!”
