Tycoon: I Have an Unlimited Modifier

”Meeting adjourned. President Yu, send out an internal email later to reassure the rank-and-file employees.”

Qi Sheng gave a wave of his hand and was the first to rise and leave the conference room.

Only after Qi Sheng had left did anyone in the conference room dare to breathe again.

”Damn, the big boss was all smiles just a moment ago, then he instantly became so ruthless. He nearly scared me to death.”

”I did some digging earlier. Our boss’s resources are on par with those major corporations. Spicy King is his company.”

”Spicy King? You mean that company with the ridiculously high valuation?”

”No matter how powerful the boss is, it doesn’t change the peanuts we make. Speaking of which, do you think those vacant executive positions will really be filled by internal promotions?”

”I guess so. The big boss promised, didn’t he?”

”Let’s be real, did you guys get an invitation from President Liu?”

”Ahem... you got one too?”

”I’m torn. We worked so hard, and now *Genshin Impact* is finally about to launch, but President Liu and his group just cashed out and left. Now he wants to recruit us, and we’d have to start all over again.”

”I’m going to wait and see. Maybe when our new boss sees how well *Genshin Impact* does, he’ll be so pleased he’ll give us a year-end bonus worth several months’ salary!”

”Exactly. It would be a huge loss to jump ship now.”

...

Chairman’s Office.

After Qi Sheng used an Expert-level Talent Recruitment Card on him, Yu Chenxi’s gaze toward his new boss was unusually fervent.

To put it in numbers, Yu Chenxi’s loyalty score had already hit 100.

”President Yu, Miha You’s current office spaces are too scattered. I’m giving you three billion. Go find a suitable building for our headquarters and consolidate all the game project teams and business lines.”

Qi Sheng wasn’t short on cash, and buying a building for Miha You would also boost his prestige in the eyes of his employees.

”Uh... buy a building?”

Yu Chenxi never imagined that the very first task Qi Sheng would assign him after calling him in would be to buy an entire building.

And with a budget of three billion, no less!

Good heavens, their entire development budget for *Genshin Impact* was less than one billion.

”Is there a problem?”

Qi Sheng looked at Yu Chenxi. He didn’t think the man would be incapable of handling such a simple task.

”No problem. I’ll screen suitable properties as soon as possible and present them to you for the final decision.”

Yu Chenxi quickly affirmed.

’Making money might be hard, but who doesn’t know how to spend it?’

”Move quickly. I want our employees moved into the new headquarters before the *Genshin Impact* public launch.”

”Oh, and don’t be stingy with the office space in the new headquarters. Let’s aim for 15 square meters per person.”

”To account for future hiring, the building’s total floor area needs to be at least 60,000 square meters.”

”If you find a suitable property, the budget can be increased!”

Qi Sheng fully intended to flex his financial muscle in front of the employees. He had to show them that their future lay with him.

’If three billion isn’t enough, the budget can be increased…’

This sentence echoed in Yu Chenxi’s mind. He couldn’t even remember how he’d walked out of the Chairman’s office.

It was only after returning to his own office that Yu Chenxi finally snapped out of his daze.

”President Yu, we’ve moved all your things to the president’s office.”

The Director of Administration, Wang Zhen, knocked on the door, an ingratiating smile on his face.

”Old Wang, come have a seat.”

Yu Chenxi beckoned with his hand, feeling no particular sense of triumph.

”President Yu, what are your instructions?”

Wang Zhen perched on the edge of his seat, looking extremely cautious.

”Chairman Qi just gave me a task, and I’m hoping you can handle it for me.”

Yu Chenxi didn’t have time to go looking at properties himself, so he had to delegate the responsibility to someone he could trust.

”Just tell me what you need. I definitely won’t disappoint you.”

Wang Zhen’s eyes lit up. He was eager for a chance to prove his worth to Yu Chenxi.

”Chairman Qi is very dissatisfied with how scattered our current office spaces are.”

”He’s given me a budget of three billion to select and acquire a suitable office building to serve as our future headquarters.”

Yu Chenxi cleared his throat, finished describing the task, and looked at Wang Zhen with a smile.

”Old Wang, there are several executive positions open in the company right now. I personally have high hopes for you, which is why I’m entrusting you with this important task.”

”I hope you seize this opportunity. When the time is right, I’ll be sure to put in a good word for you with Chairman Qi.”

”Thank you, President Yu!”

Wang Zhen knew full well that Yu Chenxi was just dangling a carrot.

But this particular carrot was exceptionally tempting and seemed well within his reach.

He thought back to the invitation he’d received from Liu Wei not long ago.

Wang Zhen scoffed internally with disdain.

’Even if Liu Wei and his team are capable, launching a new project from scratch would take two or three years, minimum.’

’And whether the project would even succeed is a huge question mark.’

’Wang Zhen didn’t believe for a second that jumping ship was the guaranteed path to a better future.’

’With Chairman Qi’s terrifying wealth, as long as I can latch onto his coattails...’

’...wouldn’t that be much better than running with Liu Wei’s crew?’

...

After leaving Yu Chenxi’s office, Wang Zhen summoned a few of his quick-witted and efficient subordinates.

”The big boss just handed down a task. He wants to buy us a headquarters building, with a budget of up to three billion.”

Before they could even digest this stunning news, Wang Zhen continued.

”We’re on a tight schedule, and President Yu is in a hurry. Each of you take charge of one administrative district.”

”The absolute minimum floor area is 60,000 square meters. I want a list of potential properties before the end of the day.”

”Understood, President Wang.”

As the group returned to their desks and started searching for information on their computers, the news that Qi Sheng was buying a building for the company had already spread like wildfire.

Qi Sheng, of course, had anticipated all of this.

The employees, who had just been in a state of panic, now focused their discussions on just how much money the big boss actually had.

”I bet our Chairman Qi is worth at least a hundred billion. Otherwise, how could he just casually drop three billion to buy us a building?”
