”Elder Han, these two show such lack of manners, it’s obvious they’re from some backwater. Not only do they lack respect, they also don’t revere our Pill Tower.

I suggest stripping them of their qualification to take the test!” the yellow-robed youth immediately jumped out, pointing at Wei Yang and Xian’er as he spoke shrilly.

The alchemists waiting for their assessment also frowned slightly, but none spoke up.

They too felt Wei Yang and Xian’er’s behavior was a bit too arrogant and ignorant, but stripping them of test qualifications was too extreme.

”No harm.” Elder Han waved his hand. Though he was indeed somewhat displeased, his nature was broad-minded, and he would not go so far as to revoke their certification rights.

Besides, that would not fit the rules. Unless he wanted to resort to shady manipulation.

”Also, just call me Elder Han. I do not deserve the title of elder.”

”Enough idle talk, let us begin the test.” Elder Han waved lightly, his tone calm.

Seeing this, the yellow-robed youth could only shut his mouth, unwilling but forced to comply. Everyone then began selecting a stone platform to prepare for their assessment. This spacious hall held seven stone platforms, and there just happened to be seven candidates.

Each chose a platform and stepped onto it.

”There are no special rules. Everything depends on strength. Refine the pill you are most skilled at. Bring your own herbs and pill recipe. The pill you refine will remain yours, the Pill Tower will not take it. If there are no issues, begin.” Elder Han sat down in a chair, half-closing his eyes.

With his words, everyone flipped their hands and took out their cauldrons.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

One after another, heavy sounds rang out as cauldrons of all kinds landed on the stone platforms.

Most of these were Tier 6 cauldrons.

But Wei Yang and Xian’er both brought out Tier 7 cauldrons, which immediately drew glances from the others.

They were experienced enough to tell at a glance from the form, weight, and material—these cauldrons were excellent treasures.

A fine cauldron, for an alchemist, went without saying. Even the yellow-robed youth, Qiu Lin, couldn’t hide the envy in his eyes.

But soon his face darkened, and he said in a mocking tone, ”If your alchemy isn’t up to par, even the finest cauldron won’t help you. What a waste of good treasure.”

”Noisy.” Wei Yang frowned and lifted his eyes, looking toward Elder Han. ”Does the Pill Tower allow candidates to verbally harass others during assessment? While it does nothing to me, having a buzzing fly yapping beside you while you refine pills is irritating.”

”You!” Qiu Lin’s face flushed red with anger.

He was a direct descendant of the Qiu Clan, one of the Pill Tower’s Five Great Clans, yet this outsider dared to belittle him so openly.

”Of course it’s not allowed.” Elder Han opened his eyes, frowning slightly at Qiu Lin. ”This is the Pill Tower’s assessment ground. If you have personal grudges, take them outside. Do not interfere with others’ tests.”

”Yes, Qiu Lin admits his mistake.” At those words, Qiu Lin immediately bowed in apology.

”Mm.” Elder Han closed his eyes again.

Qiu Lin straightened, his gaze full of hatred as he glared at Wei Yang.

But Wei Yang ignored him completely. With a flip of his hand, he brought out numerous jade bottles and jade boxes, arranging them neatly on his platform.

Fwoosh, fwoosh, fwoosh~

As flames of various colors rose, the room’s temperature began climbing rapidly.

A faint dragon’s roar echoed. Suddenly, the beast flames burning in the other cauldrons seemed to bow, as if paying homage in the same direction.

The temperature instantly spiked to another level!

Seeing this, everyone turned in shock.

They saw a yellow-brown whirlwind being placed by Xian’er into her Tier 7 cauldron, spinning and hovering within.

”This aura!” Elder Han’s eyes snapped open, a flash of brilliance shooting through them as he stared at the whirlwind.

His pupils contracted sharply, and he could not help but stand up, exclaiming, ”That’s... the Heavenly Flame Wind and Thunder Fury Flame?!”

”What?!”

”A Heavenly Flame!”

”Wind and Thunder Fury Flame!”

Everyone cried out in shock.

Even Qiu Lin’s pupils shrank, his face filled with disbelief.

But then Elder Han frowned, muttering as if to himself, ”Hmm... something is off. Why does this Wind and Thunder Fury Flame have such low spirit?”

He turned toward Xian’er and asked, ”Young lady, what is going on?”

Xian’er’s hand seals shifted slowly, controlling the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame to warm the cauldron. She softly replied, ”This is only a sub-flame.”

”Ah, only a sub-flame?” Elder Han suddenly understood, then let out a sigh and slowly sat back down. ”What a pity, I thought I’d encountered a true Heavenly Flame.”

”Sub-flame?” The others, upon hearing this, also sighed in regret and shook their heads.

Though they had been fortunate to witness a legendary Heavenly Flame today, in the end, it was only a sub-flame. Even so, their gazes remained fiery, fixed on that yellow-brown whirlwind. Even if it was just a sub-flame, it was still a Heavenly Flame.

At the very least, it was far stronger than the Tier 5 or Tier 6 beast flames in the hands of everyone else present.

Qiu Lin’s eyes flickered, and in his heart he sneered, ”The Wind and Thunder Fury Flame sub-flame, and this peerless beauty, plus that Tier 7 cauldron—they will all be mine sooner or later!”

At that moment.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh~

A sound like surging tides suddenly rang out.

A deep-blue flame, like rolling seawater, was summoned by Wei Yang. With a casual motion, he tossed it into his cauldron, where it burned fiercely.

This deep-blue fire was incomparably mysterious. As it flared, it spread outward like clear ocean waves, ripples shimmering like flowing water.

The blue firelight danced across the shocked faces of everyone present.

”This is!” The crowd was dumbstruck.

”Oh, this is also a sub-flame.” Wei Yang answered casually.

”.” The crowd fell silent.

Heavenly Flame, ranked eighteenth, Wind and Thunder Fury Flame sub-flame.

Heavenly Flame, ranked fifteenth, Sea Heart Flame sub-flame.

This!

Elder Han sat up straight, taking a deep breath of the scorching air, his eyes fixed deeply on Wei Yang and Xian’er, a heavy feeling rising in his chest.

These two young people were not simple. That thought surfaced not only in Elder Han’s mind, but also in the minds of everyone present.

So young, yet they possessed two Tier 7 cauldrons, and two Heavenly Flame sub-flames. Such things were not what ordinary people could bring forth.

After this small interlude, the assessment continued.

With a thought, Wei Yang caused the jade bottles and jade boxes on his stone platform to automatically open. Stalk after stalk of medicinal herbs floated up and were tossed into his cauldron.

The deep-blue flames surged upward, wrapping around dozens of herbs at once, refining them in unison. This display nearly stunned the onlookers watching in secret.

”Such technique!” Elder Han’s expression grew incomparably solemn, his eyes wide, fixed firmly on Wei Yang’s every move.

After a while, he exhaled slowly and whispered, ”It’s an Elemental Heart Pill!”

With his eyesight, it was easy to identify from the herbs and the early refinement process what pill Wei Yang was attempting to refine, as well as its grade.

Elemental Heart Pill: Mid Tier 7. When consumed during pill refinement, it helps stabilize the mind and thereby increases the success rate of pill refining.

More importantly, judging from Wei Yang’s calm, effortless manner, refining a Mid Tier 7 pill seemed entirely easy for him. This was the true reason Elder Han’s heart felt heavy.

As the saying went, outsiders watch the spectacle, insiders watch the details. To refine a Mid Tier 7 pill with such ease, handling dozens of herbs at once—just that alone was frightening.

Even if Elder Han himself personally refined an Elemental Heart Pill, this was at most the same level he could achieve.

Which meant—this youth dared to refine like this because he was absolutely confident in his alchemy.

His alchemy skill was not below Elder Han’s. It might even surpass him!

Understanding this, Elder Han could not help but hiss softly, his gaze at Wei Yang growing complicated and astonished.

In that moment, Wei Yang was no longer a junior in his eyes, but an equal. He flipped open Wei Yang’s registration file, carefully scanning the details.

On the age column, it clearly read: Twenty-three years old!

”Another monster-level existence appears... I wonder how he compares to the Cao Clan’s and the Dan Clan’s two geniuses.” He let out a bitter laugh, sighing in his heart.
