”It’s you! You’re the leader of those mysterious black-robed bad guys from two years ago!” Zi Yan pointed straight at Wei Yang and shouted.

Lin Yan, Liu Qing, and the others were first stunned when they heard this, then quickly reacted, all looking at Wei Yang with shock on their faces.

More than two years ago, during the chaos when the Fallen Heart Flame went out of control and outsiders broke into the Inner Academy, there had been three mysterious black-robed figures in addition to the Black-Corner Region experts.

These three mysterious black-robed men not only killed the Medicine Emperor Han Feng, but also severely injured the Fallen Heart Flame, and took away the Sea Heart Flame.

They never imagined that the leader of those mysterious black-robed figures back then would actually be this handsome young Dou Zong expert standing before them now.

Wei Yang directly nodded and admitted it, saying, ”That’s right, that leading mysterious black-robed man was indeed me. But this ’bad guy’ label — where did that come from?”

Zi Yan froze for a second, then waved her small fist and said, ”You invaded the Inner Academy, just like those guys from the Black-Corner Region!”

”Uh, Zi Yan, Brother Wei isn’t what you think.” Xiao Yan’s face showed a bit of embarrassment, and he quickly spoke up.

After all, the reason Wei Yang had entered the Inner Academy during the Fallen Heart Flame’s rampage was, if they really had to pin it down, invited by Xiao Yan.

Of course, he wasn’t about to say that in front of everyone.

”Then what is it? He was clearly a bad guy!” Zi Yan retorted angrily.

”Uhh...”

Xiao Yan awkwardly rubbed his nose, not knowing how to explain for a moment.

This whole business had been rather underhanded from the start, and now with Lin Yan and the other Inner Academy elders present, it was even harder to explain, risking only making things worse.

”Hmph.”

On the side, Medusa let out a cold snort, glancing sidelong at Xiao Yan, looking rather gloating.

Lin Yan and the others, at this moment, also looked at Xiao Yan with some doubt.

Wei Yang, seeing this, shook his head and could only open his mouth to pick up the conversation, to help Xiao Yan out of the awkwardness,

”Little girl, let me ask you—”

But just as he began to speak, Zi Yan’s willow-like brows shot up, her little fists clenched tightly, glaring at Wei Yang, and she shouted, ”Who are you calling little girl? You bad guy, trying to pick a fight with me? Maybe I’m even older than you — call me big sister!”

Her reaction was huge, like a kitten bristling.

Back in her childhood, after accidentally eating a Body Transformation Grass, she had transformed into human form very early, but remained stuck with this little-girl appearance, unable to grow up physically.

That had basically become her reverse scale — anyone touching it would send her into a rage.

”Big sister?”

Wei Yang was both amused and helpless, his gaze couldn’t help sweeping over her flat-chested, petite body.

Everyone around almost burst out laughing, desperately holding it in.

”Hmph, then you can just call me Zi Yan!” Zi Yan changed her wording a bit with a guilty conscience, then solemnly added, ”But don’t look down on me — I’m not small!”

As she spoke, she even tried hard to puff out her flat little chest, putting on an old-soul, serious appearance, which was simply too adorable.

”Alright, Zi Yan.”

Wei Yang could only change how he addressed her, not bothering to get stuck on this topic any longer.

”Mm.”

Zi Yan finally nodded with satisfaction, and her gaze toward Wei Yang also softened a little.

Wei Yang returned to the previous topic and continued, ”I entered the Inner Academy for Han Feng, and didn’t clash or fight with you people from Jia Nan Academy. Also, afterward, I even offered compensation — that part is correct, right?”

Lin Yan and the others nodded.

Zi Yan furrowed her brows, tilted her little head and thought hard, then finally nodded rather reluctantly, ”That’s right.”

”And not only did I kill Han Feng, which indirectly helped you Jia Nan Academy, but I also severely injured the Fallen Heart Flame after it broke free, keeping it from rampaging through the Inner Academy. That part is correct as well, right?” Wei Yang added.

Zi Yan continued frowning, thought about it, and nodded again.

Lin Yan, Liu Qing, and the others all looked visibly more relaxed.

Wei Yang wasn’t wrong about that.

”So that settles it, right? I not only indirectly helped your Jia Nan Academy, but I also gave a Mighty Huang Pill as compensation afterward.”

Wei Yang spread his hands and spoke calmly, ”If even with that, you still see me as your academy’s enemy and have to take revenge, then I have nothing more to say. If you want to seek revenge, just come find me whenever you like.”

Hearing this, Lin Yan and the others quickly waved their hands and said, ”Sir, you are overstating it — from how you explain it, this was a misunderstanding, and talking it out clears everything up.”

As they spoke, they frantically shot glances at Zi Yan.

After all, their mission this time was to assist Xiao Yan, not to provoke some terrifyingly powerful enemy for the academy out of nowhere.

Moreover, someone like Wei Yang, a mysterious and powerful young Dou Zong, was not someone they wanted to provoke casually.

”Mm, if you put it that way, then you’re not really an enemy of our academy.”

Zi Yan was not someone who couldn’t tell good from bad, so she nodded and snorted lightly, waving her little hand, ”Since that’s the case, let’s forget about it. But in the future, you are not allowed to barge into my academy whenever you please. Otherwise, I’ll beat you up!”

As she spoke, she also swung her little fist forcefully.

”Alright.” Wei Yang nodded with a smile, going along with her.

For Brother Kun’s sake, Wei Yang was still very patient and tolerant toward Zi Yan.

Seeing Wei Yang’s attitude, Zi Yan felt satisfied, and after thinking for a moment, added, ”You’re not a bad person. In the future, if anyone bullies you, I... I can help you beat them up.”

Everyone present couldn’t help but laugh silently at that.

A little girl who hadn’t even reached Dou Huang yet, speaking so boldly to a Dou Zong, offering to protect him — really, no one else could say something so shamelessly adorable.

Wei Yang, however, took it differently. When he heard that, he raised his eyebrows with interest and smiled, ”Oh? So that means, from now on, we’re friends?”

”Mm...” Zi Yan frowned and thought about it, then nodded slightly,

”Hmph, I suppose so.”

”Hehe, very good. I’ll remember what you said.” Wei Yang laughed, ”In the future, if I ever need help, I’ll look for you. Of course, if you ever need anything, you can come find me too.”

”Deal.” Zi Yan patted her little chest with her hand and lifted her chin with a bold look, replying very heroically.

Perhaps because of a natural instinct, or because she could sense a genuine goodwill from Wei Yang, or perhaps because of Wei Yang’s tolerance and sincere treatment of her, Zi Yan unknowingly began to develop a faint fondness and trust toward him.

Normally, she wouldn’t trust or like a person so easily.

But with her simple thinking, she didn’t overanalyze it, and often acted based on intuition.

Zi Yan walked right up to Wei Yang, reached out her small hand, and boldly patted him on the shoulder, her voice crisp and childish as she said, ”You’re not bad — I like your style.”

”Hehe, I suppose it’s what you’d call hitting it off at first sight.” Wei Yang laughed warmly.

”Oh right, what’s your name?”

”My name is Wei Yang.”

”Oh, Wei Yang. By the way, do you have any medicinal herbs on you?”

”I have a few. Why?”

”No reason, just asking. Ahem, of course, if you have some extras, you can give me two plants — I’ll ask that Xiao Yan to help me make some tasty pills, and I can share a bit with you.”

”Use herbs to make tasty pills? Uh, actually, I’m an alchemist myself.”

”Really?”

”Really.”

”Then... can you make tasty pills?”

”Shouldn’t be a problem.”

”Ahem, then can you make some for me?”

”Sure.”

”Really? You’re not lying, right? Or I’ll beat you up.”

”I won’t lie. I never lie.”

”Mm, I believe you. Look, these are pills — they taste great, sweet and fragrant, way better than just gnawing on the herbs directly. I used to chew herbs raw, it was so nasty...”

Just like that, Wei Yang and Zi Yan actually started chatting.

Topic: tasty pills.

Zi Yan looked excited, waving her small hands, trying hard to describe the taste of those pills to Wei Yang.

And Wei Yang was listening seriously, nodding from time to time, occasionally even offering his own ideas.

Whenever that happened, Zi Yan’s eyes would light up, and she’d nod vigorously in excitement.

Everyone present, seeing this scene, was greatly surprised — including Xiao Yan and Medusa.

Xiao Yan and Medusa, having a rough idea of Wei Yang’s temperament, knew that while he looked mild on the surface, he wasn’t truly so easygoing.

Ordinary people had a very hard time getting his approval, let alone casually patting him on the shoulder, straight up asking for medicinal herbs, or asking him to make pills.

But unexpectedly, on their first meeting, Wei Yang’s attitude toward Zi Yan was so special.

Not only was he tolerant and patient, he was even willing to put down his status and sincerely chat with this little girl, genuinely making friends, not just going through the motions.

Even Xiao Yan and Medusa felt amazed, let alone Lin Yan and the others, who were so shocked their jaws practically dropped.

After all, this was a proper Dou Zong!

At the Dou Zong level, even if not standing at the absolute peak of the continent, their status was still extremely high.

In the Black-Corner Region, that meant standing at the very top of the food chain.

What’s more, Wei Yang was so young, which meant he had boundless prospects in the future.

People like that were normally all extremely proud and aloof.

Yet now he was chatting away with a little girl at Dou Wang level as if they were sworn siblings — if they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they really wouldn’t have believed it.
