Time continued to pass.

Under the frenzied absorption of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, the vast shapeless sea of fire gradually shrank in size.

From once covering thousands of meters in all directions, it had now contracted to less than a hundred meters.

At this moment, the aura released by the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame had already reached the very peak of the Dou Huang realm—Half-Step Dou Zong!

It seemed to be just half a step away from stepping into the realm of Dou Zong.

And yet, it now appeared to have encountered a bottleneck.

It trembled gently, continuously devouring the remaining formless fire as if accumulating and brewing something.

The leap from Dou Huang to Dou Zong was no small barrier.

Even though the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame’s potential clearly far exceeded this point, and it hadn’t yet reached its true limit or shown signs of struggle—

When faced with this breakthrough bottleneck, it still needed enough energy accumulation. This was not something that could be rushed or forced.

In fact, although the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame was currently only at the peak of Dou Huang, with its unique nature, if it erupted with full power—especially with Wei Yang’s Dou Qi supporting it—the combined force of the two was already no weaker than the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame at the Dou Zong level.

In fact, it might even surpass it.

Time ticked away, minute by minute.

Wei Yang didn’t rush—he waited silently.

His palm occasionally clenched, then opened, then clenched again...

After a long while—

Finally—

As the last trace of the invisible flame was completely devoured the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame seemed to have reached a critical limit. Its aura began to fluctuate, becoming unstable, as though it could break through the thin barrier at any moment.

Yet it still felt... just a tiny bit short.

Wei Yang frowned slightly at the sight. ”Still not enough?”

Swish!

With a flap of his black flame wings, he crossed into the domain of black light, swiftly arriving in front of the black sun.

Buzz buzz—

The black sun trembled and let out a faint cry, radiating a faint trace of anxious emotion.

”Don’t panic,” Wei Yang said softly. ”Let me give you a hand.”

As he stepped forward, his entire body merged into the black sun.

At the same time, the black sun’s form rapidly expanded to a height of nearly two meters.

Within it, Wei Yang sat down cross-legged, exhaled a deep breath, calmed his mind then began to operate his cultivation method at full power.

Boom!

As if it had received some kind of powerful support, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame’s aura surged violently.

The range of the black light domain also expanded outward once again.

In this magma world, endless fire-type energy and heat were continuously drawn in, devoured by the black sun.

It was like a black hole, endlessly absorbing the energy of the outside world to strengthen itself—compensating for that final missing bit.

Because of this, the temperature of the surrounding area began to drop in an eerily unnatural way.

In the blink of an eye, more than half a day passed.

Within the underground magma world, a black sun floated mid-air, releasing waves of black light.

Then—at a certain moment—

Boom!

The space around the black sun suddenly rippled, like waves on water.

A vast and majestic aura, like a giant dragon awakening, surged out from within the black sun.

The sheer strength of this aura had now truly reached the Dou Zong level!

At the same time, blinding black rays burst forth, and black fire swept across the void.

A terrifying pressure descended, causing the dark red magma to churn and roll like crashing waves.

The entire underground sky seemed to tremble, shaking under the pressure of this sudden, overwhelming force.

A terrifying high temperature spread out, engulfing the entire magma world.

Black light illuminated everything, shining into every visible crack and shadow.

In an instant, the entire dark red magma world plunged into darkness.

But this darkness wasn’t the pitch-black kind where one couldn’t see their hand—it was a kind of darkness enveloped by black light, where even the sense of sight felt stripped away.

Buzz buzz buzz—

The black sun trembled violently—it was cheering, it was rejoicing!

It had successfully devoured and digested the massive energy left behind by the Fallen Heart Flame, and had finally broken through to the Dou Zong level.

For the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, this breakthrough to Dou Zong was nothing less than a great leap forward.

Because for many Heavenly Flames, Dou Zong was already the upper limit of their potential.

Just like the Green Lotus Core Flame, the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame, or even the Fallen Heart Flame—

Those Heavenly Flames often reached their peak potential at the Dou Zong level.

But the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, upon breaking through to Dou Zong, had only just shed its juvenile phase and entered its growth phase.

This was a realization that struck Wei Yang the moment it broke through an understanding that surfaced in his mind naturally and inexplicably, without needing explanation.

And it shocked him.

How could he not be astonished?

The Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame had only now, upon reaching the Dou Zong level, truly escaped its infancy, and begun its growth stage!

If one were to divide the growth phase into four stages—early, middle, late, and peak—

Then currently, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame had just barely left the early stage and was now gradually stepping into the middle stage!

By that measure—

What about the middle stage?

What about the late stage?

And the peak stage?

How terrifyingly strong would it be?!

At this moment, Wei Yang truly began to believe that the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame was not a Heavenly Flame native to the Dou Qi Continent, but one that had come from the Great Thousand World.

Because its potential ceiling was simply too high!

A Spirit Flame?

A Divine Flame?

A Celestial Flame?

He couldn’t even imagine it—at least, not yet.

As the black sun radiated and erupted to its heart’s content, after a brief while, it slowly began to withdraw and converge inward.

The black light, the black fire—all gradually retreated and returned into the black sun itself.

Swoosh!

Wei Yang stepped out from within it and turned, standing before the black sun.

His own aura had also grown noticeably stronger.

From a Four-Star Dou Huang, he had now become a Five-Star Dou Huang—gaining an entire star’s advancement just by sharing in the breakthrough.

Buzz buzz buzz—

The black sun quivered gently, transmitting a wave of affection and attachment.

Having stepped into the Dou Zong realm, its sentience had clearly become much stronger.

More importantly, it had seemingly begun to form a basic sense of intelligence it was no longer in that previous, dazed and ignorant state.

Realizing this—

”Hahaha~!”

Wei Yang couldn’t hold back his delight. He reached out to touch the black sun, and couldn’t help but throw his head back in laughter.

Buzz buzz—

The black sun quivered under his palm, releasing a warm and intimate energy.

Then—

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—

It began flying around Wei Yang in playful loops, darting through the air joyfully like a mischievous child.

It looked like a newly born creature, eyes opened for the first time, curious about everything in the world.

Wei Yang clasped his hands behind his back, watching it with a wide, delighted smile.

”The Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame has already begun to develop a sense of true intelligence...”

His heart was full of joy, pride, and deep emotion, his eyes warm with affection—like a father watching his child play.

At this moment, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame felt like a newborn.

What a journey it had been!

For a Heavenly Flame to develop intelligence was no easy feat—it required the tempering of countless years.

The difference between a flame with intelligence and one without was massive.

Although it had spiritual awareness before, it lacked true intelligence. In that state, it wasn’t much different from a plant—it couldn’t be considered a fully sentient lifeform.

But now—it had taken that step. It had begun to develop true wisdom.

It had become a thinking, intelligent being.

Truly—a moment to celebrate.

”Welcome to this world... Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame,” Wei Yang said softly.

A while passed.

Eventually, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame had had enough of its joyful antics. With a swoosh, it zipped back to Wei Yang’s side.

Its body rapidly shrank, condensing down to the size of a fist, and hovered quietly before him.

Buzz buzz—

It trembled lightly, as if still reluctant to stop, sending out affectionate, slightly spoiled waves of intent.

”Had your fun?” Wei Yang smiled and extended his palm.

The flame buzzed softly and obediently settled into the center of his hand, affectionately rolling around.

”You little rascal,” Wei Yang chuckled, his eyes full of warmth. He closed his fingers gently.

Squeeze, poke— Mmm, soft and bouncy. Very satisfying to the touch.

Holding it, he didn’t feel even a hint of heat. Instead, it felt pleasantly warm, like clutching a cozy hand warmer.

Thump thump—

The Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame seemed just as happy, its body pulsing gently, like a black, flame-tinged heart, beating rhythmically with joy.

One man, one flame—playing together in harmony.
