RUMBLE—

Far ahead, the magma surged and boiled as it exploded again and again, sending monstrous waves soaring skyward like a volcanic tsunami.

The Invisible Fire Python was completely suppressed by Du Jiao, with no attention left to spare for anything else.

As a result, the scattered Invisible Flames floating through the magma world had essentially become ownerless.

Above the magma sea, nine black fire dragons and four azure fire dragons soared through the air. They followed their respective masters while gleefully devouring the flames scattered throughout the space.

After a short while—

It was as if the entire magma world had been swept clean. All traces of the Invisible Flame had disappeared.

The bodies of the nine black fire dragons and the four azure fire dragons had clearly grown in size—noticeably bulkier than before.

Black and azure flames coiled around their bodies, within which faint strands of transparent flame could be seen woven through.

With a mere thought from Wei Yang and Xiao Yan, the dragons began to shrink, gradually compressing in size before returning into their respective masters’ bodies.

Wei Yang’s consciousness sank into his dantian. The nine fire dragons transformed back into streams of black flame, carrying the absorbed Invisible Flame into the center of his dantian—where they were immediately devoured by the Black Sun.

In an instant, the Black Sun swelled in size, as if it had overeaten.

It trembled slightly, working furiously to absorb and digest the influx, refusing to waste even a single strand of flame essence.

Seeing this, Wei Yang gently shook his head and actively circulated his cultivation method, assisting the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame in its digestion process.

As the refining continued, the aura of the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame grew steadily stronger—its power climbing ever higher.

Time passed slowly.

It took a long while before the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame finally digested the massive influx of energy.

Its strength, which had previously sat at the peak of the low-level Dou Huang, had now smoothly advanced to the mid-level Dou Huang.

Buzz—Buzz—The Black Sun vibrated with excitement, a wave of satisfaction and elation radiating from it.

As a Heavenly Flame with instinctive intelligence, it might not be fully sentient, but it clearly knew enough to rejoice at its own growth.

Wei Yang smiled, then withdrew his mind from his dantian.

...

In the outer world—

Xiao Yan’s face also held a look of excitement.

He, too, had reaped significant rewards from that brief period of devouring.

However, unlike the Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, his Green Lotus Core Flame had not grown significantly stronger.

Due to the nature of Flame Mantra, the strength of the Green Lotus Core Flame was tied to Xiao Yan’s own cultivation.

The flame had devoured the Invisible Flame not for its own evolution, but for Xiao Yan’s benefit. After being refined through Flame Mantra, that energy became nourishment for Xiao Yan himself.

As a result, Xiao Yan’s cultivation level had risen from Four-Star Dou Ling to the peak of Five-Star Dou Ling—just half a step away from breaking through to Six-Star Dou Ling.

This was the fundamental difference between symbiosis and exploitation.

In one case, both sides grew stronger together, supporting each other mutually.

In the other, the flame served solely to nourish and strengthen its master—its own growth entirely dependent on its master’s cultivation level.

Of course, that didn’t mean the Green Lotus Core Flame couldn’t evolve.

It could—but only through fusion with other Heavenly Flames via the Flame Mantra, thereby forming a brand-new type of Heavenly Flame.

Its path to power relied on fusion.

Just like in the original story, when the Green Lotus Core Flame fused with the Fallen Heart Flame, it formed a new Heavenly Flame known as the Glazed Lotus Heart Flame.

And according to Yao Lao, upon sensing its power, he acknowledged that the Glazed Lotus Heart Flame was not far behind the Bone Chilling Flame in might—enough to rank around 11th or 12th on the Heavenly Flame Ranking.

...

”Brother Wei,” Xiao Yan approached Wei Yang’s side.

Wei Yang nodded, his gaze fixed on the distant waves of raging magma still roiling in the horizon.

Xiao Yan followed his line of sight.

At this point, it was easy to tell that the Fallen Heart Flame’s aura had dropped significantly—far weaker than when they had first entered this place.

Roughly estimated, it was currently only at the Seven-Star Dou Zong level.

Clearly, the earlier wave of devouring by the two of them, coupled with Du Jiao’s brutal assault, and the Sea Heart Flame still resisting desperately inside the fire python’s body, had all contributed to drastically weakening its strength.

”This beast’s power has dropped a lot!” Xiao Yan exclaimed with some surprise.

”Expected,” Wei Yang chuckled. ”Earlier, it went berserk—forcefully absorbing vast amounts of energy. That temporarily pushed its strength up close to the peak of the Dou Zong realm.”

”But that state of power certainly couldn’t be maintained for long. At most, it could erupt a few more times before collapsing again. And once it falls, there will be a period of weakness—it’ll need some time to recover.”

”Not to mention, it was caught off guard by Du Jiao’s ambush, and we also absorbed so much of its energy. So, this current situation... isn’t all that surprising.”

Xiao Yan chuckled and nodded.

Right now, the advantage was clearly on their side.

The Fallen Heart Flame, now only at Seven-Star Dou Zong level, stood little chance against them—with Du Jiao present, their odds of victory were high.

”That thing... What’s its true body? It looks like some kind of serpent-type magic beast?” Xiao Yan asked curiously.

”Yeah, its true form is—” Wei Yang nodded and was about to explain—

When suddenly—

Hiss—ROAR—

Two shrill, high-pitched cries rang out!

Whoosh!A massive invisible tail slammed into the magma, sending up a torrent of molten waves.

From within the surging magma, a flash of dark purple light flickered into view.

In the next instant, two massive beasts emerged into the sight of Wei Yang and Xiao Yan.

One was a giant serpent, over thirty meters long, its body covered in black-purple scales, a spiraled black horn piercing from its forehead like a spear toward the sky. It was locked in a violent struggle with the Invisible Fire Python, the two of them thrashing and entwining, stirring up waves and chaos throughout the magma sea.

BOOM!SPLASH—

The fierce clash between the two titans sent magma soaring in every direction.

”There—that’s its true form. I call it Du Jiao,” Wei Yang said with a grin.

”Du Jiao?” Xiao Yan’s mouth twitched slightly when he heard the name. He glanced at the large serpent’s spiraling horn.

That name... really was painfully literal.Xiao Yan couldn’t help but silently ridicule: What a lazy name...

If Wei Yang had known what Xiao Yan was thinking, he definitely would’ve retorted: As if you’re any better at naming things.

”That should be a One-Horned Purple Scale Python?” At this moment, Yao Lao’s voice rang out.

”Mm.” Wei Yang nodded.

”One-Horned Purple Scale Python?” Xiao Yan frowned, quickly rifling through his memory for any related information about that kind of magic beast.

”This beast’s bloodline... is extraordinary,” Yao Lao said with emotion. ”It’s said to descend from an ancient lineage—practically extinct in today’s world.

A fully grown One-Horned Purple Scale Python is typically already at the Dou Zong level. If it can endure long enough, it can reach peak Dou Zong, and with a stroke of fortune, even become a Dou Zun.”

”Already Dou Zong as an adult? That’s insane!” Xiao Yan was stunned.

He couldn’t help but feel a tinge of envy in his heart.

Compared to these creatures born with powerful bloodlines, his so-called talent really didn’t amount to much.

”It’s not that outrageous,” Wei Yang said mildly. ”There are plenty of even more terrifying bloodlines out there.”

”True,” Yao Lao sighed. ”Little Yan, the Dou Qi Continent is vast. Powerful and outrageous bloodlines aren’t as rare as you might think. Once you reach Central Plains, you’ll understand that clearly.”

”Alright then...” Xiao Yan shrugged.

So in that place called Central Plains, bloodline superiority basically ruled the game, huh?

”Strong bloodlines are good—but sometimes, they’re also a form of shackle,” Wei Yang said as he glanced at Xiao Yan.

This brat has the bloodline of a Dou Di after all... too bad it’s so diluted, it might as well not exist.

But precisely because of that... he actually had one less limitation on his path forward.

The Dou Di bloodline, unless it was at divine grade, often became a hindrance for those aiming for the absolute peak in the later stages of cultivation. Sometimes, it was better not to have one at all.

Of course, this was also a kind of paradox—because without any bloodline advantage early on, you might not even make it to Dou Huang, let alone aim for something higher.

”Exactly,” Yao Lao agreed. ”Sometimes, an overly powerful bloodline may not be a blessing. There’s a saying in the cultivation world: ’One who relies on their bloodline can never surpass the first ancestor from whom it came.’”

”But even that’s not quite accurate,” he added, ”Because being able to even approach that first generation is already something remarkable. So who cares about surpassing it? Eh, we’ve gotten off topic again. Back to the matter at hand—we should deal with that beast first.”

Both of them nodded, eyes locking onto the chaotic battlefield ahead—where the two titanic beasts were still locked in vicious combat.

”Heh, time to get to work.” Wei Yang stretched his body slightly, then clenched his fist. In a flash, his figure shot toward the battlefield, nine black fire dragons swirling to life around him—lifelike and fierce.

These nine dragons... were clearly much stronger than before.

”Let’s fight!” Xiao Yan’s blood surged. With a flick of his hand, he pulled out the Heavy Xuan Ruler, and his azure flame wings spread from his back as he charged forward right behind Wei Yang.
