**

The Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame was not only a Heavenly Flame—it also possessed a special suppressive effect on the soul. Compared to other Heavenly Flames, its effect in this regard was even more potent.

Even though Wei Yang was currently suppressing the temperature, that didn’t change the fact that it was still a Heavenly Flame.

And now, with the You Hun Zun Zhe in soul form, being burned by a Heavenly Flame...

The agony that directly scorched the soul was unimaginable—far worse than any physical pain the body could experience.

Sss sss sss—

Wisps of white smoke continued to rise.

”Ahhh—spare me! I won’t dare again!”

”Please... please, I beg you! Spare me, ahhh!”

”I know the location of an ancient ruin! There are treasures there—countless natural treasures and rare materials... I’ll take you there! Ahh—please! I’ll take you there!”

The You Hun Zun Zhe thrashed wildly, rolling, screaming, howling in torment!

He tried to extinguish the flames by writhing on the ground.

But it was all in vain.

The black flame clung to his soul like maggots to bone, firmly latched on, continuously burning—impossible to put out.

”Ahh! Stop burning me—please, I’m begging you—don’t burn me anymore... I know I was wrong... I’ll never do it again...”

”Whatever you want—I’ll give it to you... everything, I’ll give you everything!”

Watching the young man roll madly on the ground, begging in despair, it was hard to believe this was once a mighty Dou Zun expert.

”Bastard, scum, son of a bitch... Damn you! You won’t die a good death—fuck your mother!”

”If you’ve got the guts, then just kill me, damn it!”

”You’ll suffer for this! You won’t die a good death—ahhh!”

When begging failed, the You Hun Zun Zhe began to curse and scream viciously, throwing out all manner of venomous insults.

Wei Yang looked on coldly, completely unmoved.

If cursing could accomplish anything, what need was there for strength?

The more vicious the curses, the longer Wei Yang burned him.

He was going to burn him until he couldn’t curse anymore.

He wanted to see just how long the man’s bones could stay hard.

The sun set. The moon rose.

Inside the chamber...

A small round pit had formed in the floor.

Within it, the melted floor resembled bubbling magma, with blistering hot bubbles rising to the surface.

A soul wrapped in black flame lay at the bottom of the pit, squirming like a maggot, occasionally twitching.

”Please... please, I... beg you... spare me... ahh—sob sob—I... I won’t do it again... I won’t... hahaha—I really won’t...”

His hoarse voice alternated between pleading, sobbing, and hysterical laughter.

The You Hun Zun Zhe had been tortured to the brink of a mental breakdown—his mind beginning to blur, muttering nonsense.

”I swear... I really know of an ancient ruin... I’ll take you there, okay? Please... just stop burning me... sob sob... I know I was wrong... hahaha... just kill me... sob sob...”

Wei Yang looked on coldly. In his palm, the transparent soul imprint slowly rotated.

After a long moment...

Seeing the You Hun Zun Zhe slipping further into unconsciousness, about to pass out, Wei Yang finally waved his hand, retracting most of the flames. What little fire remained was also cooled further.

Only after doing all this did Wei Yang speak—his voice low and persuasive, like a whisper from the abyss.

”Now... there’s an opportunity. A way for you to escape this torment. Do you want it?”

The You Hun Zun Zhe, now in a dazed, semi-conscious state, nodded instinctively upon hearing that, muttering:

”Yes... I want it... just kill me... sob sob

... please... just give me a quick death...””You want a quick death? That’s easy.” Wei Yang gently beckoned, and the You Hun Zun Zhe’s body floated up, slowly drifting before him.

Wei Yang leaned in, close to his ear, and whispered:

”Tell me the Soul Control Technique, and I’ll grant you that quick death immediately.”

”Soul Control Technique? No... I can’t...” The You Hun Zun Zhe instantly shook his head, a flicker of clarity returning to his eyes.

”Didn’t you say you’d agree to anything?” Wei Yang’s voice turned cold. ”You’re not even afraid of death—so what’s a mere soul technique? Or... do you want to keep burning? Want to keep tasting that fate worse than death?”

”No no no! Don’t burn me again...” The You Hun Zun Zhe began trembling violently, muttering frantically, ”Don’t burn me anymore... I—I’m not afraid of dying... I’m not afraid...”

”If you won’t tell me,” Wei Yang said, his tone icy, ”then I’ll restore your soul—and burn you again. Then restore, burn, restore, burn... again and again. Forever.”

”No! Please don’t! You’re a devil! Don’t—don’t burn me!” The You Hun Zun Zhe screamed in sheer terror, his entire body shaking uncontrollably.

Wei Yang beckoned again, retracting another portion of the flame, easing the pain just a bit more.

”See? Isn’t that much better now?” Wei Yang said with a slight smile. ”As long as you tell me the Soul Control Technique, I won’t burn you anymore. How about it?”

The You Hun Zun Zhe trembled continuously, his inner thoughts clearly locked in struggle.

After waiting for a while, Wei Yang grew impatient. ”Yes or no—give me a clear answer! If yes, nod your head, and I’ll give you a swift end afterward. If not—then the burning continues.”

”You... you’ll really... give me a quick death after?” The You Hun Zun Zhe’s eyes lit up. He strained to raise his head and looked into Wei Yang’s eyes.

If he could die swiftly, then he absolutely didn’t want to go on living.

Because living—was far more unbearable than dying.

Now utterly drained, all he wanted was a clean end.

”Of course.” Wei Yang’s lips curled into a strange smile, nodding sincerely. ”I, Wei Yang, have always been a man of my word.”

”...Fine!” The You Hun Zun Zhe nodded. ”I... I’ll give you... the Soul Control Technique. But you must not go back on your word. You must give me a quick death!”

”Of course! Don’t worry. I, Wei Yang, never break my word.” Wei Yang nodded in assurance, then waved his hand and withdrew all of the flames.

The moment the fire was gone, the You Hun Zun Zhe felt as though he had ascended to heaven—his soul loosened completely, nearly drifting into an eternal sleep.

However—

”If you dare fall asleep, I’ll burn

you awake.” Wei Yang’s voice was like ice water, jolting him back with a shiver. The You Hun Zun Zhe forced his eyes open, shakily raising a finger, still murmuring with a trembling voice, ”Afterward... don’t forget... give me a quick death...”

”Don’t worry,” Wei Yang said with a nod, leaning his forehead in close.

As that trembling finger touched Wei Yang’s forehead—

A tremendous stream of information surged into his mind.

A long time passed.

Wei Yang slowly opened his eyes, a look of surprise and admiration in his gaze.

He hadn’t expected the Soul Control Technique to be a Low-Level Earth Grade soul technique.

A Low-Level Earth Grade soul technique—its value was immeasurable.

And to directly control and enslave another’s soul—this technique was terrifying.

He lowered his head and looked at the transparent soul seal floating in his palm, silently comparing it to the information in his mind.

A while later—

Wei Yang concluded that there was nothing wrong with the technique. It was genuine.

With a thought, soul power surged from between his brows and flowed into the transparent seal.

As the soul power gradually infused into the seal, its intricate mysteries began to reveal themselves one by one before Wei Yang’s eyes.

Combining the mental imprint in his mind with this firsthand observation, even though he had just obtained the technique, Wei Yang was already quickly grasping and understanding most of its fundamentals.

In his Sea of Consciousness, his soul form began forming hand seals in a constant flow, cultivating the Soul Control Technique and attempting to condense the soul control seal.

”I—I didn’t tamper with it... you... don’t worry... just please—give me a quick death...” the You Hun Zun Zhe pleaded weakly.

”Just wait a bit longer—I’m fast at learning things,” Wei Yang said, glancing at him. ”Don’t worry. As long as you didn’t lie to me, I won’t go back on my word.”

”That’s good...” The You Hun Zun Zhe nodded faintly.

”If you can’t hold on anymore, you may as well fall asleep. Once I confirm there’s no problem, I’ll give you that quick end,” Wei Yang said. ”To pass on in your sleep... isn’t that a pretty good way to go?”

”Yeah... I suppose it is...” The You Hun Zun Zhe gave a weak laugh. He took one final, long look at Wei Yang and murmured, ”Never thought... this is how I would disappear in the end...”

A look of remembrance flashed in his eyes, and then—he could no longer hold on. His consciousness fully slipped into darkness.

”Remember... give me... a quick death...”

Only a faint whisper lingered in the air, slowly echoing in Wei Yang’s ears.

”Don’t worry.” Wei Yang’s lips curled into a peculiar smile.

I, Wei Yang, always keep my word.
