**

The You Hun Zun Zhe withdrew his finger, his face deathly pale, and his aura had clearly weakened by a significant margin.

He stared fixedly at Wei Yang, who was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed, a faint glint of anticipation hidden deep within his gaze.

”Heh heh... this old man doesn’t just have Soul Devour and Soul Shock—there’s also Soul Control!”

”Otherwise, what do you think those slaves under my command came from?” the You Hun Zun Zhe sneered inwardly.

Soul Devour, Soul Shock, and Soul Control—these were the true core of the You Hun Zun Zhe’s power. His hidden trump cards.

First, Soul Devour.

This one was straightforward—it allowed him to devour another’s soul to strengthen his own.

Of course, before devouring, he had to refine the opponent’s soul completely—purifying it, washing away all its clutter, impurities, including memories, will, and consciousness—leaving only the purest essence of soul origin.

Only then could it be devoured safely, bolstering his own soul power.

Otherwise, absorbing too many impurities would taint his own soul, leading to chaos in his consciousness, memory confusion, and other dangerous consequences.

Moreover, one needed a powerful flame to carry out the refining and purification.

Next, Soul Shock.

This was a method of using specialized sonic waves to attack the soul.

By channeling soul power, one emitted a unique frequency of sound to strike an opponent’s soul directly. If the target was unprepared, their soul could be thrown into a brief unconscious state.

In fact, if your soul power was strong enough, a single shout could shatter an enemy’s soul. Not an exaggeration.

And finally—Soul Control.

This was the You Hun Zun Zhe’s favorite

and most relied-upon technique.A soul technique of Low-Level Earth Grade, it was terrifyingly strange—an enslaving technique that could manipulate souls.

It could transform enemies into loyal slaves, utterly devoted to their master.

These soul-controlled slaves would respect and obey you from the deepest depths of their soul, wholeheartedly loyal, willing to follow any command—even death—without a hint of disobedience.

Hmm... the effect was a little like the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils, but... a weaker version.

Of course, this method had limitations.

It had to be used when the target was completely unaware, severely weakened, or had lost consciousness entirely—unable to resist. Only then could one silently plant the soul mark and have any hope of success.

Also, if the gap between soul realms was too great, it was impossible for the technique to work—and worse, could even cause the caster to suffer a backlash.

...

At this moment, the You Hun Zun Zhe was gambling everything on one last desperate move.

At great cost to himself, he condensed a soul imprint, then silently implanted it into Wei Yang’s mind, mixed in among the torrent of transmitted information, slipping into the depths of Wei Yang’s soul.

He was treating this like a last-ditch attempt to save a dying horse.

If the soul imprint could, while Wei Yang was distracted absorbing the data, blend seamlessly into the mix and slip into the very core of Wei Yang’s soul—take root there—then the You Hun Zun Zhe would be saved. No—he’d turn the whole situation around.

But if it failed...

”It has to work!” the You Hun Zun Zhe clenched his fists tightly, holding his breath, not daring to exhale—as if even the sound of his breath would awaken Wei Yang.

He prayed furiously in his heart.

Time passed, second by agonizing second.

The You Hun Zun Zhe had never in his life felt time crawl this slowly—every second was a lifetime.

The wait was pure torment.

He didn’t even dare to carefully sense the status of the soul imprint—afraid it would alarm Wei Yang.

Still, he could faintly sense that the imprint had yet to successfully embed itself into Wei Yang’s soul origin. Which meant it hadn’t worked—yet.

But the good news was, Wei Yang didn’t seem to have noticed its presence.

”Come on, come on... you have to succeed!” The You Hun Zun Zhe was anxious to the extreme, silently chanting in his mind, filled with tension and unease.

Time dragged on endlessly under this excruciating pressure.

Suddenly—

Wei Yang slowly opened his eyes.

The You Hun Zun Zhe’s pupils shrank slightly in that instant—his entire soul felt as if it had plunged into an icy abyss.

Because—he could no longer sense the soul imprint at all!

”You...” The You Hun Zun Zhe’s face went pale in an instant. His expression collapsed into despair—he knew he was finished.

Wei Yang stared at him coldly. With a flick of his mind, a wisp of black flame slowly emerged from between his brows, flickering into view.

Within the flame, wrapped in its embrace, was a mystical imprint—completely transparent, so faint it was almost invisible—about the size of a fingernail.

Wei Yang raised his hand slightly. The black flame, cradling the imprint, drifted down and hovered in the center of his palm.

The black flame slowly began to shift and become illusory, flickering faintly in and out of sight.

Wei Yang lowered his gaze, studying the mysterious, transparent imprint intently.

”Sigh...” Seeing this, the You Hun Zun Zhe let out a long sigh. His entire frame seemed to wither, as if all strength and spirit had been drained from his body. He hunched over, defeated.

Even though he’d mentally prepared himself, knowing the odds were slim—in this moment, he still couldn’t suppress his disappointment. No—his despair.

”This... is the method you use to control your subordinates?” Wei Yang asked casually, without even lifting his head, his eyes still focused on the imprint.

”Yes.” The You Hun Zun Zhe nodded, having completely given up. He slumped to the ground, answering with a touch of indifference.

”You knew I had a Heavenly Flame—and not only that, but I’d refined it into my Life Flame, able to protect my soul. And yet you still dared to play dirty?” Wei Yang raised his eyes to him.

You’re really stubborn to the bone.

”I... honestly didn’t know you had already refined the Heavenly Flame into your Life Flame. I gambled on the idea that you were just a Dou Huang, and might be using Acceptance Soul to contain the flame,” the You Hun Zun Zhe shrugged helplessly.

”Didn’t you already fight me once inside my mind?” Wei Yang asked, surprised.

The You Hun Zun Zhe’s face stiffened. He stared blankly for a moment before mumbling, ”Oh yeah... But I’ve never encountered a Heavenly Flame before, so how would I know what’s what...”

”Well, actually, a Heavenly Flame is similar to your Beast Flame,” Wei Yang explained. ”If I dared to bring it into my Sea of Consciousness and fight you with it—without fearing backlash—then it had to be my Life Flame. Which can guard my soul.”

”Oh.” The You Hun Zun Zhe’s voice was listless, his expression vacant.

At this point, anything he said was already meaningless.

”When you make a mistake, you must pay the price. Do you agree?” Wei Yang asked.

”...I agree...” The You Hun Zun Zhe opened his mouth, his voice trembling slightly. ”But... can we talk? Just talk?”

”Talk? Of course we can.” Wei Yang smiled slightly, one hand still holding the imprint aloft, while his other hand slowly spread its fingers.

Boom—

A black flame ignited and surged upward.

”However, I don’t feel like talking right now. Talk about what? Talk my ass?” Wei Yang’s voice grew cold. ”After you’ve paid the price—we’ll talk. Slowly.”

”Wait, wait—hold on—I have something to say... I really have something to say!” The You Hun Zun Zhe’s face was full of panic as he stared at the black flame, scooting backward on his butt in a futile attempt to flee.

He knew how terrifying this black flame was. Even now, the memory of it made his soul tremble in fear.

”Jie jie~ But I don’t feel like listening to you talk.” Wei Yang waved his hand—and the black flame surged forward like a tide.

”No—wait! I know the location of an ancient ruin! I can tell you—no, I’ll take you there—uh—Aaaahhh!!” The You Hun Zun Zhe’s words turned into a blood-curdling scream before he could finish.

”AAAHHH—AAAAGGHHH!!” His entire soul burst into black flames, transforming into a writhing, burning figure, rolling and thrashing on the ground, shrieking in agony.

Sss sss sss—

Wisps of white smoke curled up from within his soul, as if he were being deep-fried alive.

Wei Yang sat cross-legged, looking down on him with cold indifference, not a trace of mercy in his gaze.

He had deliberately adjusted the flame’s temperature—just enough to cause unbearable pain, but not enough to kill.
