**

The next day.

Wei Yang awoke early, feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

He turned over and climbed out of bed, stretching comfortably.

Though he had been a little fatigued yesterday, after resting, the spiritual fluctuations deep within his soul had seemingly strengthened a bit more.

”Brother Yang, why are you up so early? Not going to sleep a little longer?” Xian’er lazily curled up under the blankets, noticing the absence beside her. She stretched out her tender, fair arms and groggily opened her eyes to ask.

”Don’t sleep in. Get up, we have things to do today.” Wei Yang bent down and gave her little upturned nose a playful pinch as he spoke.

”Mmm... just a little longer,” Xian’er murmured drowsily, eyes half-closed, her voice soft as if speaking in a dream.

Her delicate figure twisted left and right under the covers, her fair, supple body wrapped in the quilt like a seductive serpent, charmingly refusing to get up.

After the fierce ”revenge” Wei Yang had taken on her in the middle of the night, she now felt drained and powerless—completely unwilling to move.

”You little enchantress.” Wei Yang tapped her forehead, turned to put on a robe, and said, ”Since you’re so tired, stay home and rest. I’m heading out.”

”Where to?” Xian’er asked sleepily, still half-asleep, her mind not quite awake yet.

”Yun Lan Sect,” Wei Yang glanced sidelong at her.

Xian’er blinked a few times, finally waking up properly. She immediately sat up and said, ”I’m coming too!”

In an instant, a spring scene burst forth—snowy white, tantalizing beauty lighting up the entire room like a sudden sunrise.

Wei Yang didn’t dare look for long and quickly turned to leave, muttering inwardly, This little temptress is getting more irresistible by the day.

Ever since she’d been thoroughly doted on, Xian’er’s charm seemed to be skyrocketing—growing by the day without end.

——

After a bit of preparation, Wei Yang headed out with Xian’er and Qing Lin.

Today was the day of the Three-Year Agreement—the long-awaited duel between Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran.

They were headed there to witness this iconic moment.

Location: Cloud Mist Mountain.

Exiting from the northern gate of Jia Ma Sacred City, Wei Yang cradled Qing Lin in his arms. Spreading the wings on his back, he soared into the sky.

Xian’er likewise unfurled her gray-white wings and swiftly followed.

They flew toward the massive mountain range shrouded in mist and brimming with spiritual energy.

Cloud Mist Mountain lay just a few dozen li north of Jia Ma Sacred City.

It was a vast and majestic mountain range—seen from afar, it resembled a great dragon coiled upon the earth. Amid the swirling clouds, one could vaguely make out pavilions and towers half-hidden among the peaks.

This was the seat of one of the most powerful forces in the Jia Ma Empire—second only to the imperial family: the Yun Lan Sect.

At this moment—

Inside the council hall of the Yun Lan Sect, a woman sat high upon the main seat. Dressed in a moon-white robe tailored for a lady, her graceful and curvaceous figure was elegantly wrapped within. Her long, dark green hair was styled into a regal phoenix hairpin.

Her stunningly beautiful face bore a calm and serene expression, but beneath that stillness was an aura of natural grace and nobility.

It was a kind of presence that could only be cultivated through years of occupying a position of power.

She was the leader of this colossal sect—the Sect Leader of Yun Lan Sect: Yun Yun.

Looking down at the rows of elders seated below her—each of them dressed in moon-white robes and wearing serious expressions—Yun Yun asked in a flat tone, ”Elders, news came from the capital yesterday that a Tier 6 pill was refined within the Alchemist Association, causing a heavenly phenomenon. Have we found out who was responsible?”

At her words, an old man seated in the lead rose and cupped his fists. ”Reporting to Sect Leader—we have. The one who refined the pill was none other than the increasingly famous Wei Yang—Master Wei.”

Yun Yun nodded slightly, unsurprised by the revelation.

Within the Jia Ma Empire, aside from Pill King Gu He, Wei Yang was the only known Tier 6 alchemist.

She looked to the elder again. ”Elder Yun Leng, continue.”

The old man named Yun Leng continued, ”However, as for the specific type of Tier 6 pill, the Alchemist Association has sealed off all information tightly. We have not been able to uncover it yet. That said, the pill was likely refined for the imperial family.”

”The imperial family...” Yun Yun’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. She fell silent, deep in thought.

The rest of the elders likewise furrowed their brows in silence.

When it came to matters involving the imperial family, Yun Lan Sect had to tread carefully.

The relationship between the sect and the imperial family was... delicate.

Many things were understood without being spoken aloud. Everyone knew, but no one was willing to tear through that fragile veil.

Now, both sides were doing their best to maintain this awkward status quo.

——

After a moment of silence.

Yun Yun spoke again, her voice regaining its previous calm. ”Since this matter involves the imperial family, we’ll leave it be. There’s no need to investigate further. Let us return to the matter of this Master Wei.”

The elders all slowly nodded in agreement.

If they continued probing into the matter, they would undoubtedly risk touching upon the royal family’s sensitive nerves. This would only further strain the already awkward relationship between the Yun Lan Sect and the Imperial Family. And right now, the sect was not prepared to completely tear that fragile facade apart.

Mutual destruction was an outcome neither side could afford.

Elder Yun Leng cast a glance at the composed, handsome middle-aged man seated across from him—none other than the renowned Pill King: Gu He.

After a brief pause, Yun Leng continued, ”The strange phenomenon of ten black suns appearing above the capital a few days ago can now be almost certainly linked to that Master Wei. And those ten suns... were likely the result of a shockingly powerful Dou Technique! As for the black flames—they are, in all likelihood, a Heavenly Flame.”

At the mention of Heavenly Flame, even Gu He couldn’t maintain his composure. His eyes narrowed slightly as he frowned in thought. ”Black flame... there aren’t many Heavenly Flames that are black in color. But the one Wei Yang used doesn’t seem to match any known flame on the Heavenly Flame Ranking. Strange...”

No one interrupted while Gu He was speaking.

After all, not only was he a Dou Wang-level powerhouse, he was also a highly esteemed sixth-tier alchemist. Within the Yun Lan Sect, his status was lofty—none dared offend him.

Once Gu He finished, Yun Leng resumed, ”During this time Alchemist Grand Meeting, two Heavenly Flames also appeared—Wind and Thunder Fury Flame and the Green Lotus Core Flame.

After the event, a terrifying battle erupted outside the capital... and ultimately, the mysterious gray-robed youth from the Chu Yun Empire, along with his subordinates—one Dou Zong and three high-level Dou Huangs—were all killed!”

”All of this... is connected to that Master Wei. His wife, Miss Xian’er, who won the alchemy tournament, commands a sub-flame of the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame. Though she is only a Six-Star Dou Huang, her combat strength is on par with peak Dou Huangs.”

”As for Master Wei himself, his strength is simply unfathomable. After stopping three high-level Dou Huangs outside the capital by himself, he then went on to pursue the mysterious gray-robed youth and a One-Star Dou Zong... and the result—” Yun Leng stopped there.

Hisss—

Everyone involuntarily gasped.

Regardless of the gray-robed youth’s strength, just the fact that he commanded a One-Star Dou Zong and three high-level Dou Huangs was enough to flatten the current Yun Lan Sect. And yet... they were all annihilated.

The one who contributed most to that outcome was undoubtedly Wei Yang.

Silence.

A heavy pressure settled over the hall.

Such a terrifying figure now resided in the capital, just a few dozen li away. Who wouldn’t feel the weight of that?

Yun Yun, too, furrowed her brows.

The reason for her concern was that Wei Yang appeared to have a rather close relationship with Xiao Yan.

They had intel that Wei Yang hailed from Wu Tan City, had visited the Xiao Clan, conducted business with them, and even offered generous terms—all of which had been uncovered by Yun Lan Sect’s scouts.

It was precisely because of this that everyone present felt so uneasy.

The atmosphere in the hall turned exceedingly oppressive. If such a dangerous couple were to take a particular interest in targeting the Yun Lan Sect... truthfully, aside from packing up and fleeing, they had no other viable options.

At present, Yun Lan Sect had only Yun Yun as a Dou Huang. The former Sect Leader, Yun Shan, remained in secluded death-closed cultivation.

After a long moment of hesitation, Yun Yun finally spoke, ”Our Yun Lan Sect has never offended him, nor had any direct dealings with him. If it’s only due to Xiao Yan, I don’t think it’ll pose much of an issue.

After all, someone like him—a grand Tier 6 alchemist—likely wouldn’t concern himself with such trivial matters... Hm. I’ll also visit the back mountain shortly to notify my teacher.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the mood in the room noticeably lightened. Several elders visibly let out breaths of relief.

Even setting aside Wei Yang’s terrifying strength—capable of killing a One-Star Dou Zong—just Xian’er’s peak Dou Huang-level combat power and her control over the Wind and Thunder Fury Flame, which could wreak havoc like a natural disaster, was enough to make anyone feel threatened.

If such a fearsome couple had their sights set on you—who wouldn’t feel as if needles were pricking their back?

After contemplating for a while, Yun Yun solemnly added, ”Alchemists have always held a position above worldly conflict, and based on Master Wei’s actions, he seems to share the neutral stance of the Alchemist Association.

If he does come today to observe the Three-Year Agreement between Yanran and Xiao Yan, we will treat him with the utmost courtesy. I will personally receive him to show our respect.”

”Wise decision, Sect Leader!” the elders all praised in unison.

”I’ll head to the back mountain now to see if I can reach my teacher,” Yun Yun said, rising to her feet and departing from the hall.
