Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 359: Chapter 218: Successful Reinforcement, Incessant Argument

Qin Haonan was taken aback. ”Chief, are you saying the Xi’an Base is behind this?”

”They’re the closest known faction to us,” Ren Yuanyang said with a nod. ”Of course, we can’t rule out other powers. After all, everyone wants to be near the World’s Roof, waiting for the floodwaters to recede so they can get a head start.”

”With this much water, where could it possibly recede to?” Qin Haonan shook his head. He felt that Blue Star would never be the same again.

”Perhaps it will return to wherever it came from,” Ren Yuanyang sighed. ”But we can’t think that far ahead right now. We have to live in the moment.”

”Exactly!” Qin Haonan replied with a smile. ”Regretting the past and worrying about the future is a damn waste of time!”

Ren Yuanyang rolled his eyes. ”Could you be a little more civilized? Been reading a lot of self-help quotes lately, haven’t you? If you have time for that, you should be reading more books on Cultivation!”

”Yes, Chief!”

After ending the call with Qin Haonan, Ren Yuanyang immediately sent a message to Long Zhan, warning him that the attackers might be a team from the Xi’an Base.

”Roger that, Brother Yang. Your theory lines up perfectly with what Old Ji was thinking!” Long Zhan replied with a laugh. ”Whether it’s the Xi’an Base or not, we’ll make sure they don’t make it back alive!”

”Just be careful. The Xi’an Base is still very well-equipped,” Ren Yuanyang reminded him.

”Understood!” Long Zhan nodded, then changed the subject. ”The barbecue from your base is amazing! I made Old Wang and the others drool just by describing it over the screen!”

”When you get the chance, you should all come over to our base and have it fresh. The stuff we sent over was frozen, so the flavor’s not quite the same,” Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.

”At a time like this, who’s picky about flavor? We’re just happy to have some meat to eat!” Long Zhan shook his head slightly. ”But we’re definitely looking forward to having barbecue at your base. Don’t forget, let us know as soon as the time is right. I’ll bring Old Wang and the others!”

”Definitely!” Ren Yuanyang agreed with a nod.

”I see the little bastards now. Talk later!” Long Zhan spotted a long line of speedboats ahead and quickly ended the call.

’To think they’d dare to rob our team this close to our base. How audacious!’ Long Zhan watched the ten speedboats with cold eyes. ”No hails. Open fire!”

”Yes, sir!”

Instantly, rockets launched from Long Zhan’s twenty speedboats, streaking toward the ten enemy vessels!

Seeing the twenty reinforcing speedboats, the Xi’an Base’s raiding party immediately broke off their pursuit and turned to flee.

But even for nimble speedboats, turning around still took time.

Each of Long Zhan’s boats had fired at least five rockets, meaning every speedboat from the Xi’an Base was ”greeted” by at least ten rockets.

By the time they had turned around, half of their boats had been hit in critical spots and were dead in the water.

The five remaining speedboats fled hastily into the distance. Seeing how fast they were, Long Zhan decided not to give chase, prioritizing the protection of the speedboats transporting the Wine Bamboo.

”Tow those five boats back. Bring all the prisoners to me,” Long Zhan commanded in a low voice.

”Yes, sir!”

Leaving ten speedboats behind to tow the five damaged vessels, Long Zhan took the prisoners and headed back to the Dawn Base first.

On the way back, Long Zhan took the opportunity to interrogate the captives.

The prisoners were hardly the strong-willed type. Long Zhan didn’t even have to use any special methods before they spilled everything they knew.

”So it really was the Xi’an Base,” Long Zhan muttered as he posted the intelligence he’d gathered from the interrogation into the group chat.

After reading the intel, Wang Jun was a little surprised. ”So they were after our medicinal herbs!”

”I didn’t expect that either. But it suggests things probably aren’t going so well for the Xi’an Base,” Ji Yizhi said, also surprised.

”They couldn’t even handle the virus they created themselves, let alone this new unknown virus from the rain,” Wang Jun added with a sneer.

Ren Yuanyang was also in the group chat. After reading Long Zhan’s intel, he commented, ”They’ll probably move their base again.”

”Most likely. They moved once before after we took over the Dawn Base. They don’t want a direct confrontation with us,” Ji Yizhi agreed with a nod.

”They’re probably afraid they can’t beat us!” Long Zhan said, looking smug.

”That’s possible, but I think I’ll add some fuel to the fire, just to make them squirm a little,” Wang Jun said with a smile, then immediately posted a message in the area channel.

”The Aircraft Carrier Base issues a formal protest against the Xi’an Base for ambushing our regular transport speedboats. We reserve the right to counter-attack...”

Seeing this message, Bao Mu, who was in the middle of relocating his base, had an incredibly grim expression.

That’s right. The moment he received the report that five of his speedboats had been captured by a team from the Dawn Base, he had given the order to move.

With prisoners taken, the location of their base was bound to be exposed.

To avoid being targeted by the Aircraft Carrier Base, his only option was to relocate.

But Bao Mu wasn’t about to lose face. He replied in the area channel: ”Fake news! This is all fake news! Our speedboats never ambushed the Aircraft Carrier Base’s fleet. On the contrary, the Aircraft Carrier Base attacked us first, causing us to lose five speedboats. The Aircraft Carrier Base must give us an explanation!”

Seeing Bao Mu’s response, Wang Jun smiled. ”I was waiting for you to say that.”

He immediately posted the video of Long Zhan’s interrogation of the prisoners in the area channel.
