Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 37: Chapter 36: Five Poison Sect Inheritance

Three experts possessing Qi and Blood like a Dragon were hunting down Snake Demon Li Tianyi. Although Qin Yu marveled at this, he wasn’t too surprised. After all, Li Tianyi himself was an expert with Qi and Blood like a Dragon. Rumor had it that he also possessed a Snake Demon, a Great Demon on par with the Qi and Blood like a Dragon realm. A lineup of four experts with Qi and Blood like a Dragon and one Qi and Blood Elephant expert wasn’t an exaggeration. In fact, killing Li Tianyi in this Snake Demon Valley would still be extremely difficult. It might even be impossible.

What truly concerned Qin Yu was Li Wanqing!

She was the personal disciple of Yunlong County’s Demon Suppression General! Although Qin Yu lived in Cyan Peak County, he was not completely ignorant of the outside world. How could he not have heard of an existence like a Demon Suppression General? This was a top-tier existence within the Demon Suppression Bureau, one who oversaw an entire county! Bishui City had jurisdiction over seventeen towns and cities of varying sizes, boasting a population of millions. In the entirety of Yunlong County, there were a full forty-two cities similar to Bishui City, bringing the total population to hundreds of millions! Just what realm of strength could a Demon Suppression Bureau General possess to suppress all the Noble Families and Sects in Yunlong County, forcing them to lie low? They were bound to be a super expert above the Qi Sea realm. As for Li Wanqing, being the personal disciple of such a figure, who would believe she didn’t possess anything special?

In Great Wei, the Court, the Sects, and the Noble Families formed a tripartite balance of power. There was no need to mention the various Sects; their disciples were spread across the world, dominating their respective regions. Most of their disciples traveled in all directions, while some joined the Demon Suppression Bureau or entered the Border Army to temper themselves. Noble Families, on the other hand, usually had long histories and massive clans. Their descendants either joined the major Sects, entered the Court as officials, or joined the Demon Suppression Bureau. It went without saying that the Great Wei Royal Family controlled the Court. The three parties were deeply intertwined with one another, but the strongest force was undoubtedly the Great Wei Court.

The Demon Suppression Bureau was one of the forces representing the Court. Speaking of which, the Qin Family that Qin Yu belonged to also fell under the category of a Noble Family, though he was merely a disciple of a remote branch.

”According to the intelligence, although this Li Wanqing is aloof and spends almost all her time slaying Demon Fiends, she has an excellent reputation and quite a few followers within the Demon Suppression Bureau,” Qin Yu thought to himself, his eyes flickering as his mind raced.

The intelligence from the Golden Wind Pavilion was very detailed, mostly because these were public facts. For instance, Qin Yu had heard of Bishui City’s Zhao Zhenshan before, though he had never seen the man in person.

”It would be best if they could slay Snake Demon Li Tianyi. The Insect Swarm wouldn’t need to lift a finger, and we could just swoop in from behind to reap the benefits.”

There were definitely secrets hidden within the Snake Valley. With the deafening rumbles and the flashing of five-colored light that night, even a fool would know that treasures lay inside. Qin Yu could roughly guess what it was. It had to be the Five Poison Sect!

He had discovered some unique totems on the altar deep within the belly of Scorpion Demon Mountain. After being appraised by the Golden Wind Pavilion, they were confirmed to be the marks of the Five Poison Sect. Ling State was filled with mountains, rivers, and great marshes where various Poisonous Insects and venomous snakes ran rampant. Among the factions there, a major religion known as the Five Poison Sect had once thrived. A thousand years ago, the Five Poison Sect had an illustrious reputation, and their influence spanned multiple counties. They were most adept at breeding five types of venomous creatures and Gu Insects: snakes, scorpions, centipedes, toads, and spiders. Hence, they were called the Five Poison Sect. The altar inside the belly of Scorpion Demon Mountain was likely a former Gu-raising Land.

When the Insect Swarm explored the area, they also discovered an ore vein beneath Scorpion Demon Mountain. It wasn’t just any ordinary ore vein, but a deposit of a special mineral known as Purple Poison Ore. Under the effects of geothermal heat, the ore vein would periodically spew out highly toxic gas, which drifted out from the crevices of the mountain. The mountain belly where the altar was located was a gathering place for these poisonous gases. For other sects, such a place was completely useless. However, for the Five Poison Sect, who excelled in cultivating venomous creatures, it was a treasured land of excellent feng shui.

It was a pity, however, that the Five Poison Sect had been eradicated by the Demon Suppression Bureau a thousand years ago. The charge was rebellion. The entire Five Poison Sect had been slaughtered. This ore vein was likely abandoned as a result. It was no surprise that a Scorpion Demon occupied this place. Even the large swarms of Thousand-legged Centipedes and that Snake Valley were likely related to the Five Poison Sect of the past.

But to be honest, Qin Yu didn’t covet the treasures held by the Snake Demon too much. One should only eat as much as their stomach could hold. With the current strength of the Insect Swarm, trying to snatch food from the jaws of Snake Demon Li Tianyi was probably still a bit beyond their capabilities. If the experts from the Demon Suppression Bureau hadn’t come, he had planned to bide his time and develop for a while longer. It would have been best to wait until his own strength broke through to the Qi and Blood Realm, and the Insect Nest broke through to Tier Two, before crushing his enemies with overwhelming, unassailable momentum! However, reality rarely allowed anyone to be fully prepared.

That Snake Demon Li Tianyi had to die! When he bewitched the Demon Fiends and used Cyan Peak County as a land for blood sacrifice, the Killing Intent in Qin Yu’s heart toward him had already reached its Peak.

”If you succeed and slay Snake Demon Li Tianyi, that would be for the best. The fortuitous encounters within have nothing to do with me, and the corpses in the Snake Valley will yield a massive profit for the Insect Swarm,” Qin Yu thought, a ferocious glint flashing in his eyes. ”But if you fail...”

Li Wanqing was the personal disciple of a Demon Suppression General! As long as Snake Demon Li Tianyi wasn’t stupid, if he managed to turn the tables and kill her, he would definitely flee. Merely fleeing wouldn’t be an issue. The fear was that before leaving, he would make a move against Cyan Peak County, or even the Qin Family. Furthermore, when subsequent experts from the Demon Suppression Bureau came to investigate, the risk of the Insect Swarm being exposed would also be extremely high.

Qin Yu connected his mind to the Insect Swarm.

[Name: Dominator of the Insect Swarm.]

[Insect Hive Tier: Tier One (x4).]

[Life Energy Reserve: 3,452/10,000 points.]

[Hatchable Units (Tier One): Worker Insect (Requires 10 Biological Energy points), Red-bellied Eagle (Requires 10 Biological Energy points), Rapid Insect (Requires 100 Biological Energy points), Black Thorn Eagle (Requires 200 Biological Energy points), Profound Armor Barbarian Bear (Requires 1,000 Energy points, 5 tons of Profound Iron Ore)]

[Current Units: Worker Insects (60), Red-bellied Eagles (92), Rapid Insects (286), Black Thorn Eagles (28), Profound Armor Barbarian Bears (5), Various small reconnaissance units (349)]

After continuously annihilating two Demon’s Nests and devouring all of their flesh and blood, the numbers of the Insect Swarm hadn’t decreased, but instead surged, experiencing an explosive growth. The primary combat units, the Rapid Insects, numbered nearly three hundred. These were killing Weapons at the Bone Forging Realm! Once they formed a massive scale, their combat capability would be several times stronger than an equivalent number of Demon Fiends.

However, the true strength of the Insect Swarm didn’t lie in mere combat. It lay in war! Large-scale war! The larger the scale of the war, the more the Insect Swarm could communicate through their Mind Network, pushing their fearless and death-defying nature to the absolute limit.

The number of various snakes in the Snake Demon Valley was indeed vast. However, as long as the Insect Swarm wasn’t wiped out in a single blow, the corpses on the battlefield would become the nutrients to nurture the swarm, allowing them to evolve into even more powerful existences.

”If the Insect Swarm is to make a move, there must be a valid and reasonable excuse. The Five Poison Sect might just be the perfect disguise,” Qin Yu thought, his gaze turning icy cold as he looked into the Insect Nest.

Inside, a Scorpion Demon was undergoing analysis! It wasn’t a Scorpion King at the Qi and Blood Realm, but merely a Demon Giant Scorpion at the Bone Forging Realm. At this moment, its analysis process was nearing completion. As he gazed into the Insect Nest, a message arrived.

”Demon Giant Scorpion analysis complete. Its life genetic structure has been integrated into the Insect Nest!”

”Similar life genetic fragments discovered within the Insect Nest’s database. Fusion available...”

”Should I initiate the fusion?” Qin Yu pondered inwardly.

Yes! He planned to impersonate the Five Poison Sect. A thousand years had passed, and the Five Poison Sect had long since vanished into thin air, yet their legacy had survived. Rising Sects like the Spiritual Snake Sect and the Red Scorpion Sect had likely obtained fragments of their inheritance.

When a giant falls, it nourishes the masses.

If that was the case, why couldn’t the Insect Swarm disguise themselves as this ’Five Poison Sect’? By doing this, the Insect Swarm would have a legitimate origin, rather than seeming to pop out of thin air.

”I’ll test out the combat power of this giant scorpion first!”
