Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Explosive Kill of the Qi and Blood Great Demon

ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!

The roars of Rapid Insects and the shrieks of Demon Fiends echoed one after another, spreading far across the mountain forest.

Mist permeated the woods. Thousand-legged Centipedes, a full ten feet long, slithered through the haze, struggling desperately to fend off the sudden onslaught of the Insect Swarm.

PFFT—

A Thousand-legged Centipede over twenty feet long shrieked, spewing thick green mist from the pores of its carapace. The venomous cloud rapidly expanded outward.

HISS! HISS!

Unable to dodge in time, a Rapid Insect was engulfed by the toxic mist. Its body sizzled as large swaths of its exoskeleton corroded away. Yet, without a second thought, it charged straight forward.

With snapping fangs, it clamped down on the centipede’s head while its scythe-like forelegs slashed out, hacking the creature into pieces.

The poisonous mist was potent, but it took time to kill a Rapid Insect. And that brief window was more than enough for the insect to turn the tables.

The severely wounded Rapid Insect retreated swiftly, preparing to strike another Thousand-legged Centipede. However, as massive amounts of green mist billowed through the forest, the toxicity in the air grew stifling. Inhaling lungfuls of poison, the already injured insect stumbled, unable to keep its footing.

In the center of the battlefield, a massive, pitch-black centipede measuring a full thirty feet roared. A pair of specialized maxillipeds beneath its head seized a Rapid Insect, injecting copious amounts of venom into its prey.

A Qi and Blood Realm Great Demon!

ROAR—

A Profound Armor Barbarian Bear bellowed, bulldozing its way through the jungle. However, the forest was densely packed with towering ancient trees, many over three hundred feet tall. Even the brute strength of the Profound Armor Barbarian Bear couldn’t topple them.

In such an environment, its proud strength was stifled. Compared to a Qi and Blood Realm Great Demon, the bear was far too slow and clumsy. Its thousand legs scuttling rapidly, the colossal centipede easily dodged the bear’s charge. It left behind several slower Thousand-legged Centipedes, which were instantly torn apart and stomped into bloody mud by the enraged bear.

PFFT—

The pores on the fleeing Qi and Blood Realm centipede’s carapace opened wide, rapidly spewing vast quantities of green mist. The poison from this creature was noticeably more terrifying. Several Rapid Insects that tried to swarm it were grazed by a mere wisp of the mist. Their exoskeletons rotted instantly, and they collapsed to the ground, screeching in agony. Even the pursuing Profound Armor Barbarian Bear sizzled upon contact.

But the Profound Armor Barbarian Bear was no Rapid Insect. Its exoskeleton was infused with a massive amount of Profound Iron Essence, rendering minor exposure to the poison practically harmless. Even so, the bear didn’t dare linger in the toxic cloud for too long. While its armor could withstand the corrosion, the bear still needed to breathe. If the poisonous mist invaded its internal organs, the outcome would be just as disastrous.

For a moment, the entire battlefield devolved into a stalemate.

Suddenly, the situation shifted.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Armor-Breaking Arrows rained down from the sky, accurately striking the Thousand-legged Centipedes hidden in the woods. The arrows pierced their skulls, pinning them dead to the tree trunks.

Panicking from the sudden ambush, the remaining centipedes looked skyward, only to see five Black Thorn Eagles, each with a wingspan of over twenty feet, circling hundreds of feet in the air.

Countless streams of data flashed across Qin Yu’s eyes. Every Rapid Insect and Black Thorn Eagle across the battlefield had become his eyes and ears.

”Thirty-six Thousand-legged Centipedes comparable to the Bone Forging Realm, plus one Qi and Blood Realm Great Demon. Its aura rivals even Zhang Shun’s. Truly not an easy foe.” Qin Yu’s gaze was icy, and the Purple Vine Bow in his hands never rested for a second.

From the sky, he had an unobstructed view of the battlefield. Even with the poisonous mist obscuring the ground, the Black Thorn Eagles’ astonishing eyesight could still pierce the veil to spot the hidden centipedes.

Occasionally, a Black Thorn Eagle would dive down.

This Demon’s Nest was far harder to deal with than the Scorpion Demons of Scorpion Mountain. Its overall strength was much greater, which was why Qin Yu had saved it for last.

The toxic mist was a major problem. Currently, the Insect Swarm—whether it was the Rapid Insects, the Profound Armor Barbarian Bear, or the Black Thorn Eagles—relied heavily on melee combat with claws and fangs. Facing this kind of poisonous gas put them at a severe disadvantage. Even if they managed to slaughter their foes, they would inevitably suffer heavy casualties themselves.

This was exactly why these Thousand-legged Centipedes dominated this region of the mountain forest.

For Qin Yu, however, it was an entirely different story.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Wind Chasing Arrows!

Arrows rained down in a torrential downpour, easily slaughtering one Thousand-legged Centipede after another.

HISS!

The Qi and Blood Realm centipede glared up at Qin Yu riding atop his Black Thorn Eagle. A glint of human-like viciousness flashed in its eyes as it rapidly scaled a towering, three-hundred-foot ancient tree. Its thousand legs scuttling in a blur, it darted to the treetops in an instant.

Opening its maw, the centipede spat out a glob of emerald-green liquid that shot toward the Black Thorn Eagle at terrifying speeds.

But no matter how fast the attack was, it couldn’t escape the watchful eyes of the flock of Black Thorn Eagles above. Almost the very instant it leaped, Qin Yu’s mount flapped its wings fiercely, shooting straight up. With rapid, vibrating wingbeats, it narrowly dodged the lethal strike.

The emerald-green liquid soared thousands of feet into the air before plummeting back to the ground, exploding in a splash upon impact.

SIZZLE—

The terrifying corrosive acid ate away at the trees and even the solid rock within a thirty-foot radius, melting out pitted holes the size of human heads. With venom this potent, even the Profound Armor Barbarian Bear might not survive a direct hit.

”I was planning to kill you later,” Qin Yu said, his gaze growing cold. He reached for a quiver packed full of specially crafted Profound Iron Armor-Breaking Arrows hanging by the Black Thorn Eagle’s side.

Even Profound Iron had different grades. The arrowheads in this quiver were forged by the Qin Family craftsmen using Hundred Refinements Profound Iron. They were far harder and deadlier than standard Profound Iron Armor-Breaking Arrows.

He grabbed three arrows at once. The Purple Vine Bow was drawn back until it resembled a full moon.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Three arrows fired simultaneously, flying in a triangular formation toward the Qi and Blood Realm Thousand-legged Centipede Leader. Accompanied by a sonic boom, the arrows arrived in the blink of an eye, striking the centipede dead-on as it attempted to flee downward.

PFFT!

The Qi and Blood Realm centipede abruptly expelled a burst of mist that swirled around its body to form a barrier.

Demon Power Body Protection!

The arrows lost most of their momentum upon impact. When they finally struck the leader’s main body, they only pierced a shallow layer, barely scratching its carapace. The damage was completely superficial.

Whether it was the Blazing Flame Tiger Demon or the Scorpion Demon Leader, all Qi and Blood Realm Great Demons possessed similar defensive measures. It was just like a Qi and Blood Martial Artist’s Qi and Blood Body Protection.

Yet, Qin Yu didn’t show the slightest hint of frustration.

”Wind-Chasing Linked Pearl Arrows!”

Armor-Breaking Arrows shot out one after another.

The ultimate technique of the Wind Chasing Arrow was only nine arrows in a single breath! But at the peak of Qin Yu’s frenzy, he unleashed an astounding twelve arrows in a single breath. The Armor-Breaking Arrows practically formed a continuous line mid-air, forcing the Thousand-legged Centipede Leader to flee madly, no longer daring to take the hits head-on.

Even so, nearly half the arrows slammed into its body.

Maintaining Qi and Blood Body Protection took a massive toll on the user’s stamina. Qin Yu knew this very well.

ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!

The Insect Swarm roared. Rapid Insects closed in from all directions, entirely sealing off its escape routes. The Profound Armor Barbarian Bear bellowed furiously, pounding the ground like an ancient fierce beast.

The Thousand-legged Centipede Leader trembled, a look of despair flickering in its eyes. There were far too many enemies. And those arrows were too terrifying. No matter how it twisted and dodged, it simply couldn’t evade them.

PFFT!

It spat out another glob of emerald-green liquid. Unless it killed Qin Yu up in the sky, it wouldn’t even have a chance to flee.

This time, however, Qin Yu didn’t bother dodging.

Profound Iron Armor-Breaking Arrows blasted forth in rapid succession, striking the glob of venom directly in mid-air. The liquid detonated, scattering into a fine mist that drifted away harmlessly.

Seventy-eight Armor-Breaking Arrows!

When he fired the seventy-eighth Armor-Breaking Arrow, the Thousand-legged Centipede Leader let out a wail of agony. The protective mist surrounding it vanished completely as the terrifying arrow finally pierced cleanly through its body.

The instant the mist dissipated, the assault concluded. Nine consecutive Armor-Breaking Arrows impaled it, ripping right through. The Qi and Blood Realm Thousand-legged Centipede Leader’s body went entirely limp, collapsing to the ground.

”Establish the fourth Insect Nest in this area to expand the Insect Swarm. Analyze the bloodline genes of the Thousand-legged Centipede. This toxic mist and venom attack will be crucial for the swarm’s future.”

Qin Yu lowered his slightly numb arms, a hint of joy in his eyes. This was the first time he had independently sniped and killed a Qi and Blood Realm Great Demon!

”It’s a pity I don’t have Rune Armor-Breaking Arrows. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had to go through all that trouble,” Qin Yu mused. ”The two surrounding Demon’s Nests have already been wiped out.”

Qin Yu shifted his gaze toward Snake Valley. Over there, more than a dozen seemingly ordinary venomous snakes had already slithered into the caverns of Snake Valley. They were creeping deep inside, heading toward the spot that had radiated multicolored light the other night.

Meanwhile, the Demon Suppression Bureau’s squad was less than a hundred miles away from Snake Valley.

Back in Cyan Peak County, Qin De stepped out of the Golden Wind Pavilion, his face etched with absolute shock, clutching a newly obtained intelligence report in his hand.
