Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 1288: Chapter 1322: Didn’t Your Parents Teach You That Poor People Are Still People?

“Xue Mo, I know all these years have been hard on you, but I, Hawke Martin, have never been a man who lets a woman down. Since I’ve decided to return this time, it means I’m coming to see you with a sincere heart. For many years, I’ve been suffering alone abroad, living a dull and lonely life. Ever since my father died, I’ve been working day and night, just so that one day I could return home alive to see you again.

Haha, heaven doesn’t disappoint those who persevere. Thanks to heaven’s blessing, I can return alive to see you. That is already the happiest thing for me.”

Hawke Martin seemed to be telling a tale of his own hardships, and in an instant, Zhao Xuemo was so moved that tears streamed down her face.

Women are often emotional creatures. In such an environment, with such gentle and tender words from a man, any woman would be moved to tears by his words.

“Why are you so silly? There are plenty of good women in the world. Why go through all this for me? I, Zhao Xuemo, am not worth it, and we haven’t even met since we were young. If you returned and saw someone that is not the me you like, would you still treat me the same way?”

“Yes! Absolutely yes! I, Hawke Martin, am never a man who breaks his word.”

“Thank you, thank you for doing so much for me.” Although Zhao Xuemo was moved, being moved isn’t true love. For someone you don’t like, no amount of emotion is equivalent to love.

“You don’t need to thank me. Everything I’ve done is just to give you a beautiful future.”

The man’s gaze was like water, exceptionally gentle.

“Cousin! I’m here!”

At this moment, an extremely discordant voice suddenly broke the tranquility of the entire hall.

Hawke Martin had just cultivated a hint of a romantic atmosphere, but it was suddenly shattered by that discordant voice.

“Miss, you cannot enter, you cannot enter.”

A few waiters outside tried to stop Zhao Xiaoshi, but in the end, they were unable to keep the wild Zhao Xiaoshi from barging in. Ignoring everyone, she walked straight in the direction of her cousin.

“Xiao Shi!”

Zhao Xuemo stood up from her chair with a start.

As soon as Zhao Xiaoshi rushed in, full of indignation, she first glared at Hawke Martin with her dark eyes, then turned her gaze to her cousin.

“Cousin, is this our brother-in-law?”

Zhao Xiaoshi had always been willful since childhood, and this was nothing new.

“Xiao Shi, what are you doing here?”

“Why couldn’t I come? Of course, I wanted to see what my future brother-in-law looks like.”

Zhao Xiaoshi showed no fear at all. Instead, she behaved as if she had every right to be there.

As if she truly belonged in this setting.

As Zhao Xuemo’s brother-in-law, he naturally should have met this little cousin first. Taking her cousin directly to such an upscale restaurant and occupying it solely for them was indeed lacking in etiquette.

“This must be Xiao Shi?”

Hawke Martin’s eyes lit up, thinking to himself that he hadn’t expected Zhao Xuemo’s young cousin to be so refreshingly beautiful.

Instantly, a yearning stirred in his heart. It’s known that, for Hawke Martin, while he had no other faults, he had a particular fondness for beautiful women.

As long as it was a beauty, he wished to have them all.

“Yes, should I call you brother-in-law now, or just directly use your full name?”

The little girl had that kind of capricious nature, and her words mostly went unfiltered through her brain.

So, in front of Hawke Martin, she displayed her personality as she always had.

“Uh… hehe, a name is just a label. If you don’t mind, Xiao Shi, you can call me anything you like.”

Hawke Martin smiled slightly, his greedy gaze fleetingly sweeping over Zhao Xiaoshi’s cleavage without leaving a trace.

“Alright then, just tell me your full name. It might be easier for me to get used to calling it in the future.”

“Xiao Shi!”

Zhao Xuemo grabbed the wilful Zhao Xiaoshi and said sternly, “Why did you come here alone?”

“Cousin, I’m here to stop you from jumping into a pit!”

“Jumping into a pit? What pit?”

Zhao Xuemo still didn’t understand what this little girl was referring to.

The mischievous girl whispered into her cousin’s ear, “I already called brother-in-law, and I think he should be here soon. I’m just here to buy him some time.”

“Xiao Shi you!”

Zhao Xuemo’s face turned pale. She had just resolved to forget Lin Zifeng, and now, with his name brought up again, her heart was filled with both anticipation and fear.

“Don’t worry, you and brother-in-law Lin are the most perfect pair. If you two don’t end up together, how can I dare to believe in this thing called love in the world?”

Zhao Xiaoshi stuck out her fragrant tongue, silently thinking to herself that Lin Zifeng should be arriving soon.

…

“Hello, our restaurant is not open to the public today.”

Following the address Zhao’s girl had texted him, Lin Zifeng found this hotel.

Faced with such a luxurious, grand upscale restaurant, Lin Zifeng was equally astounded; the life of the wealthy truly knows no restraint.

When you have no money, you can only bow to it.

Choosing such a high-end place just to eat, isn’t that a bit too extravagant?

“What? Has this place been booked?” Lin Zifeng frowned. The address Zhao’s girl sent was here. Could it be that this Hawke Martin fellow really booked the entire restaurant for Zhao Xuemo?

“Yes, sir.”

The waiter courteously replied.

“Well, that’s fine. My friend is inside, and today’s leading lady who booked the place is still inside waiting for me.”

With that, Lin Zifeng chuckled and continued to stride forward.

“What leading lady and leading man?”

Two waiters rushed forward to block Lin Zifeng’s path.

“Sir, you really cannot enter.”

“Gentlemen, the person who booked the place today is my friend. I’m just hoping to see my friend. Must you be so vigilant?” Lin Zifeng spread his hands.

“Sorry, sir. This area has been reserved by our guest, so it’s better for you to leave here to avoid us having to call security. That would escalate things.”

Wow! They’re even thinking of calling security?

Lin Zifeng was infuriated.

Just as he was about to force his way in, a middle-aged man, who had always been by Hawke Martin’s side, suddenly appeared at the door.

“Mr. Lin!”

Thomas suddenly called out to Lin Zifeng.

“So it’s you.” Lin Zifeng gave him a sidelong glance without much interest.

“Mr. Lin, today is when my young master discusses matters with his friend, so it was I who simply arranged this restaurant booking on his behalf. If Mr. Lin doesn’t mind, might I ask you to relocate?”

Thomas smiled faintly, with words that were ostensibly harmless. Yet, his tone was full of disdain.

“Booking a place over a discussion with a friend? So what if you’re rich? Weren’t you taught that even the poor are humans too?”

Unexpectedly, Lin Zifeng started cursing outright.
