Chapter 1279: Chapter 1313: My Cousin Really Likes You

“What did you say?!”

Zhao Xuemo thought she had misheard.

“I said I’m sick, and it’s not mild. I can’t handle scares.” Lin Zifeng repeated.

What the hell! After everything, Zhao Xuemo has been opening up to me so much, turns out she likes me!

“Lin Zifeng, I like you. Haven’t you been able to tell all along?” Zhao Xuemo confessed her feelings for Lin Zifeng without hesitation.

At this point, hiding it was less preferable than being honest.

“…”

This sentence completely stunned Lin Zifeng. He was emotionally clueless to begin with. Besides, until a woman says ‘I love you’, a man can never truly know what the woman’s inner world is thinking.

Maybe, one moment she treats you like her first love, and the next moment you might become an old pair of slippers, a father with no warning.

“Minister Zhao, can we not play around? This joke really isn’t funny.” Lin Zifeng, at a loss for what to do, pushed Zhao Xuemo away in a moment of nervousness.

Then, he quickly tidied up his clothes.

After being heartlessly pushed away, Zhao Xuemo wore a bitter smile, feeling a faint bitterness in her heart. It seemed she really was overthinking things.

“Haha, I didn’t expect this joke to get you so worked up,” Zhao Xuemo said expressionlessly.

Her heart was mercilessly hurt by Lin Zifeng’s words just now, as if a freezing sharp knife had ruthlessly cut her heart twice. It was painfully agonizing, yet she still had to pretend to smile and say ‘I’m not in pain’.

However, the culprit obviously didn’t know who Zhao Xuemo held in her heart. He spent his days among a bunch of women, just like soaking in seawater daily, knowing it’s water but not daring to drink it. Even if he did drink, he’d just get thirstier and more confused.

“Minister Zhao, there are many things to face in life. I know your fiancé is coming back, and I know you are about to be wed. No matter what, this is your relationship. Whether you like it or not is up to you. Whether you fall in love or not is also up to you. As a friend, I sincerely wish for your happiness. And I hope I can do something for you.”

“There’s no need,” Zhao Xuemo said resolutely.

“You really don’t have to be polite with me.” Lin Zifeng knew she was in a bad mood.

“You can go now, I’m feeling much better. I’ve also figured it out, I think my fiancé is actually quite good. At least he’s wealthy and powerful! Maybe this time when he comes back, he’ll surprise me.”

“But do you really love him?”

Lin Zifeng asked.

“Love?”

Zhao Xuemo suddenly turned her head, staring at him without looking away, with a bitter smile on her lips, “Do you even know what love is?”

“I know,” Lin Zifeng nodded, and said: “Love is a kind of giving, hoping she is well, so naturally I am well.”

“That’s merely an act of giving,” Zhao Xuemo rebutted, “Truly loving someone is being able to do anything, to throw caution to the wind!”

“That’s not love, that’s selfishness,” Lin Zifeng shook his head, took a cigarette out of his pocket, and said: “Maybe we have different understandings of love, but I hope you can get better. Since you’ve already resigned from Tianyu Group, I have a business card here. As long as you’re willing, I’m sure they’ll want you.”

Lin Zifeng pulled a business card from his pocket, with the words Huayu Group clearly printed on it.

He had thought, since Zhao Xuemo had resigned from Tianyu Group, the Huayu Group would be willing to take her in.

Zhao Xuemo took the card and glanced at it faintly. She had no heart to go to work now.

“Alright, Minister Zhao. Since you’re okay now, I hope you can maintain your previous demeanor. If this continues, you’ll really disappoint me. I just want to see a dazzling Zhao Xuemo, not a Zhao Xuemo who’s so defeated she can’t even respect herself. I’m leaving now, if anything comes up feel free to call me.”

After leaving his phone number, Lin Zifeng decisively left.

…

“Please, God, you have to bless brother-in-law to bring back my cousin’s fighting spirit. She can’t go on like this, she’ll go crazy one day. She’s my most beloved cousin, I don’t want her to continue like this.”

Zhao Xiaoshi had been hiding behind the living room door, clasping her hands and constantly praying for heavenly blessing.

At this moment, Lin Zifeng pushed open the door and was startled by this little girl.

“Brother-in-law, brother-in-law, how did it go? How did you and cousin talk?”

“How did what go?” Lin Zifeng looked at her speechlessly.

“Of course, the conversation you just had. Didn’t you see the state my cousin is in now?”

“I saw it, so what?”

“Of course, you should advise my cousin, don’t you know what she’s thinking?” Zhao the little girl glared with her big watery eyes, acting as if she understood more than Lin Zifeng.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Alright, I have things to do, I’m leaving now.”

“Hey! Brother-in-law, wait a moment. I haven’t finished asking yet.”

Zhao the little girl grabbed Lin Zifeng’s arm, refusing to let him go.

“Hey, I said little girl, we agreed beforehand, right? I came over as a persuader, as long as I talked with your cousin, you promised not to bother me anymore, right? What? It’s been less than two hours, and you’re already planning to back out?”

“Who, who, who said I’m backing out! I’m just curious. Don’t you know my cousin’s heart?”

Zhao Xiaoshi rolled her eyes as she explained, and with Lin Zifeng saying so, her face suddenly flushed.

As if just knowing, even if I knew, what could I do? Are you really asking me to be your brother-in-law and take your cousin?

That’s impossible!

Lin Zifeng knew better than anyone, even though he’s an emotional illiterate, he’s not blind.

He’s a married man, and already has so many emotional debts. If he keeps getting entangled with Zhao Xuemo, he’d truly be doomed in the future.

It’s one problem after another.

He doesn’t even know what kind of person Zhao Xuemo’s fiancé is, but at least they haven’t met yet. Maybe once they meet, she’ll fall madly in love with the guy, who knows? So, feigning a bit of ignorance is most important.

He and Zhao Xuemo are not suitable, even if Zhao Xuemo knows about her fiancé’s return. She might end up marrying someone she doesn’t like, but it’s still better than being with a man who’s already married. Besides, her fiancé might not be bad, she might fall in love with him too, who knows.

There’s nothing absolute, as long as you try, everything is not that difficult.

Lin Zifeng considers himself just a passerby in Zhao Xuemo’s life.

“I don’t know,” Lin Zifeng shook his head.

“You’re so dumb! My cousin likes you so much, can’t you tell? Are you even dumber than me?”

“Thud!”

“Ouch! You hit me?”

Zhao the little girl clutched her head where it hurt from being knocked, pouting and looking at him with a pitiable expression.

“Hitting you was being lenient, what nonsense are you talking? Is this love? It’s just our working relationship; we respect each other, that’s all.” Lin Zifeng in a grand manner, though thinking in his heart, he’s had many ambiguous moments with Zhao Xuemo.

Only he knows about that.
