Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 800: Chapter 795 Alternative

It was 2:10 in the deep of the night.

After leaving the private room, upon Zhang Mengjie’s invitation, it was the first time the two of them officially walked on the deserted streets.

Even though their relationship was still somewhat ambiguous, Zhang Mengjie seemed to be curious about this mysterious man.

What had just happened in the private room made her heart pound in a way it never had before, a truly beautiful feeling.

”Are we just going to keep walking the streets like this?” Lin Zifeng, who had calmed his nerves with two consecutive cigarettes, broke the silence, ”It’s so late, don’t you think it’s a bit odd for a man and woman to be wandering the streets alone?”

Zhang Mengjie blinked in mild surprise, her moist eyes avoiding his gaze, not daring to look directly at him.

It wasn’t that she was shy, but that she was feigning shyness. Having watched countless cheesy romantic dramas, she knew how a woman could capture a man’s favor, and that she needed to put on an act.

”Are you...are you worried about that girl?”

”Who?” Lin Zifeng asked, puzzled.

After a moment of thought, his eyes brightened and, grinning, he said, ”Are you talking about Chuqing?”

”Is she really your sister?” Zhang Mengjie asked in surprise.

”She’s a poor kid, and yes, I consider her my sworn sister.”

”If you recognize her as your sister, why is she still selling flowers? What kind of brother are you?” She lightly brushed her bangs from her forehead, her point coming across logically: ”You should not have let her experience what happened tonight, you must take responsibility for her future!”

”Take responsibility?”

Staring at her with annoyance, Lin Zifeng said, ”How am I supposed to take responsibility?”

”You have to protect her, of course. What if you hadn’t turned up tonight, or if some other bad guy had taken her? Do you have any idea what could have happened?”

Zhang Mengjie gave him an annoyed glance without avoidance this time, and, standing tall, said, ”Because you’re her brother, even if it’s in name only, you have to be responsible for all her safety. Knowing she is blind, why don’t you get her eyes treated? I think, you shouldn’t be short of money, right?”

Seeing her cheeks flush, Lin Zifeng chuckled bitterly. He couldn’t help but admire her compassion.

He was very clear about Chuqing’s stubborn nature. Several times Lin Zifeng had suggested treating her eyes only to be flatly refused by the young girl.

And she declared that she would cure her eyes with her own efforts.

For such a stubborn girl, if he went against her wishes, Lin Zifeng wouldn’t be helping her, and might even add more pressure to her.

”All right, since you put it that way, I’ll spend more time with her from now on and I’ll do everything in my power to get her eyes treated. Is that okay?” Lin Zifeng said, resigned.

”Giggle. That’s more like it.”

Who could have expected, the one to take an inch would be her, unexpectedly reaching out to touch Lin Zifeng’s face!

”What’s the matter? You look so pale,” Zhang Mengjie laughed, noticing that Lin Zifeng’s face was getting paler by the second, which she found amusing.

Thinking back to the kissing scene outside the private room earlier, it made her sentimental.

The downfall of the Star Society tonight was another new challenge for the Martial Arts Society.

Lin Zifeng had naturally delegated all matters to Black Hawk, taking it easy as if he were just an ordinary person.

”Nothing, just your touching me like this, and it being the middle of the night, aren’t you scared?”

Lin Zifeng looked at her with a half-smile.

”Scared? What am I scared of? Surely you won’t eat me, right?”

Zhang Mengjie’s lips pursed slightly, her eyes brimming with a different kind of softness.

”...”

Lin Zifeng had nothing to say.

Once again, they lapsed into silence, aimlessly heading towards the end of the road.

Nobody took the initiative to speak.

Lin Zifeng, as expressionless as wood, his sharp eyes shimmering in the dark night.

Zhang Mengjie glanced at him more than once, finally unable to help herself, she asked, ”Are we just going to keep walking like this?”

”Then I’ll take you home,” Lin Zifeng said.

”...”

Was this man really so devoid of romance, just going out for a midnight stroll?

She had been somewhat hopeful that he would do something unexpected, but she realized she was being overly fanciful.

Zhang Mengjie had always considered herself quite brave, not even afraid when faced with hundreds of adversaries. But in this moment, in front of Lin Zifeng, her heart fluttered with complex emotions.

Finally, she stamped her foot, steeled her heart, and thought, ”If it’s death, then so be it.”

”How about... we go to a hotel?”

”Ah!!! A hotel?”

Before Lin Zifeng could react, shock surged through him. Good Lord. Could it be that she was that desperate?

”Don’t get me wrong, it’s almost three o’clock, and there are no cabs at night. If we walk back like this, we’ll never make it before dawn. So why don’t we book two hotel rooms and stay there? What do you think?”

Lin Zifeng was silent, mentally weighing the options. If it was indeed two rooms, then there was no problem.

So he nodded in agreement.

At three in the morning, all stores could be closed, except for two kinds that always seemed to thrive.

Pharmacies and hotels.

Lin Zifeng, unfamiliar with the area, followed Zhang Mengjie across a few streets and quickly found a relatively upscale hotel.

Unfortunately, when faced with the requirement to register with their IDs, they realized that neither of them had brought their identity cards.
