From Broken Family to Life Winner: A Reborn Mother's Journey

Wu Sheng frowned and looked closely at Su Li. ”You’re acting a little strange today. What’s wrong?”

Su Li was in the middle of drinking some water. When Wu Sheng leaned in, she nearly choked.

”I’m not acting strange at all,” Su Li replied, setting down her cup and letting out a small sigh.

”Oh.” Wu Sheng glanced around and asked, ”Where’s Little Point?”

”He’s practicing his forms,” Su Li answered.

Besides reading, practicing his forms was what Little Tang Mo focused on the most.

He could practice diligently in his room for quite a while by himself. Although he was young and his strikes weren’t powerful, he had long since mastered the entire set and went through it several times a day.

”Not bad. I’ll teach him some new moves in a few days,” Wu Sheng said with a smile, stroking his chin.

As if he knew they were talking about him, Little Tang Mo opened his door and came out.

”Little Point.”

Wu Sheng called out to him and set down the food container he was carrying. ”I got off work early today and found you guys some good food, so you don’t have to cook tonight.”

He put down the food he had scrounged up and opened it. ”It’s delicious and nutritious. Little Point can eat it too.”

Wu Sheng had brought several main dishes. They smelled truly wonderful, and Little Tang Mo could eat them as well.

Su Li was dishing out some rice for Little Tang Mo when Wu Sheng suddenly looked at her and asked.

”Do you have a fever?”

Su Li was puzzled. ”No, I don’t.”

”Your face is a little red.” Wu Sheng had just started to reach out a hand when Little Tang Mo beat him to it, getting up to press his own forehead against Su Li’s.

Wu Sheng coughed, pulled his hand back, and muttered something under his breath.

”I don’t have a fever,” Su Li explained dryly.

Little Tang Mo felt her forehead for a moment, didn’t think she had a fever, and sat back down.

After they ate, Wu Sheng found out that Su Li’s lawsuit had been dismissed.

Su Li’s heart was heavy; Wu Sheng could tell.

”I forgot to bring them up just now. I found a few relevant law books earlier. Wait here, I’ll go down and get them, and we can study them together.”

Wu Sheng went downstairs to get the law books, and when he brought them back up, he and Su Li looked through them.

But no matter how much they looked, they couldn’t find any glimmer of hope.

As Su Li read, her gaze drifted over to Little Tang Mo.

Little Tang Mo was drawing, his expression focused. He looked no different than usual.

The more Su Li looked at him, the worse her mood became.

Wu Sheng couldn’t stand the atmosphere and suddenly asked Su Li.

”Want to go get a drink?”

Su Li: ”...What?”

’Did I hear him right? A drink?’

Little Tang Mo also looked up at Wu Sheng.

”Want to go get a drink and relax a little?” Wu Sheng asked again.

”Don’t be ridiculous. What kind of drink? I can’t hold my liquor.” Su Li glanced helplessly at Little Tang Mo, who was listening with his ears perked.

”I’m not being ridiculous.” Wu Sheng looked at Little Tang Mo. ”Little Point can come have a drink too.”

Little Tang Mo’s eyes lit up.

”Wu Sheng,” Su Li said, exasperated.

Wu Sheng rubbed his nose. ”I was talking about fruit wine. It’s like a soft drink; Little Point can drink it too.”

It wasn’t like they were going to get real drinks; he wasn’t crazy.

”Fruit wine?” Su Li had tried a small glass of fruit wine once before.

She was a lightweight and didn’t like spirits or beer, but she did enjoy that one small, sweet and sour glass of fruit wine.

”Right, fruit wine. I used to drink it when I was a kid and I’ve always liked it. I haven’t been in a few years, so I don’t know if the shop is still there.”

Seeing the sparkle in Little Tang Mo’s eyes, Wu Sheng stood up. ”Let’s go. We can clear our heads and see if it’s still around.”

If they did nothing, Su Li would surely be up all night again.

Su Li looked at Little Tang Mo’s expectant gaze and was tempted.

”Alright, let’s go then.”

She was feeling really down, so it would be good to go out for a walk and take her mind off things.

”The weather is getting colder. We need to bundle up.”

Su Li got a coat and scarf for both herself and Little Tang Mo. Then she looked at Wu Sheng, thought for a moment, and went to get another scarf.

”You should wear this too, so you don’t get cold later. No one will see you this late at night, so you’ll just have to make do with the color.”

The scarf had been sent to her by Su Xing. It was bright red.

”Red is a great color,” Wu Sheng said as he took it. ”I’m a little flattered.”

Wu Sheng wrapped it casually around his neck. ”Let’s go.”

Maybe it was because of his good looks and charisma, but the casual wrap somehow looked quite stylish on him.

Wu Sheng led Su Li and Little Tang Mo through a maze of winding streets, and they arrived after walking for nearly ten minutes.

”It’s still open. Come on.”

The little tavern was tiny. There was nothing inside besides two tables.

Rows and rows of wine jars took up most of the space. The owner was an old man.

”Grandpa, we’ll have a jar of bayberry wine and a few side dishes.”

Little Tang Mo looked around curiously as he sat down with Su Li.

”The alcohol content isn’t too high, right? Can Little Mo drink it?” Su Li asked as Wu Sheng came over.

The old man, who was pouring the wine with his back to them, had sharp ears and answered before Su Li could.

”A kid his size can drink it. It’s fine, it won’t get you drunk.”

He placed the wine and cups in front of them. ”Go on, drink up.”

Wu Sheng poured some for Su Li and Little Tang Mo.

Seeing Su Li nod, Little Tang Mo took a tentative sip. His eyes lit up, and he immediately took a big gulp.

Su Li also nodded after taking a sip.

”Mm, it’s delicious.”

”Of course it’s delicious. It was my favorite when I was a kid.” Wu Sheng also took a sip. ”Once, when I was little, I drank ten cups and almost cried from having to get up to pee so many times during the night.”

”I thought you were going to say you wet the bed,” Su Li quietly chimed in.

”Even if that did happen, I wouldn’t tell you,” Wu Sheng shot back immediately.

Because the fruit wine was genuinely delicious, Su Li and Little Tang Mo kept taking sips, and as they drank, their spirits really did lift.

It was after her third glass, as she started on her fourth, that Su Li began to act a bit strange.

At first, she just suddenly became more talkative. Then, her face started to flush. And after that, she started swaying.

”Wu Sheng, something’s weird. I’m a little dizzy, and I feel weak...”

Su Li said, propping herself up on the table.

Wu Sheng looked at Su Li, an expression of disbelief flashing across his face.

”You can’t be serious.”

’It was only three glasses of fruit wine. Little Tang Mo drank three glasses too, and isn’t he perfectly fine?’

’There’s no way a grown woman like Su Li could get drunk off three glasses, right?’

”Su Li...” Wu Sheng had just started to speak when Su Li suddenly went THUMP, and her head hit the table.

Even the old man was startled. He walked over with his hands behind his back and exchanged a look with Wu Sheng, who had stood up.

”She seems to be drunk...”

Wu Sheng patted the anxious Little Tang Mo. ”It’s okay, Little Point. Your mom’s just drunk.”

The old man looked down at Su Li and clicked his tongue.

”This is the first time anyone’s gotten drunk off this... no, wait...” The old man thought for a moment. ”There was a two-year-old girl who drank too much and got drunk once.”

The old man gazed at the ceiling, reminiscing. ”That little girl had three glasses, I think.”

Wu Sheng: ”...”

’So, Su Li has the alcohol tolerance of a two-year-old girl?’

The old man took their money, clicked his tongue again, and walked away.

”Tsk, tsk. Looks like I can’t boast that no one gets drunk off this anymore...”

Wu Sheng and Little Tang Mo looked at each other. ”Su Li, Su Li, wake up.”

Wu Sheng called her name a few times tentatively, and Su Li protested groggily.

”I’m not asleep. I’m awake.”

She struggled to sit up. ”I’m not asleep.”

”Mm-hm, mm-hm, my mistake. You’re not asleep, you’re wide awake,” Wu Sheng said, patting Su Li’s head to soothe her.

Three minutes later, Wu Sheng left the tavern carrying Su Li on his back and holding Little Tang Mo’s hand.
