From Broken Family to Life Winner: A Reborn Mother's Journey

In the end, Little Tang Mo was discharged from the hospital.

This was the doctors’ recommendation.

After a consultation, they had essentially confirmed that Little Tang Mo’s condition fell into the realm of psychiatric and psychological issues.

Their hospital didn’t have a suitable doctor to transfer him to for treatment.

At the time, psychological counseling and therapists weren’t common, and the psychiatric department wasn’t a good fit for Little Tang Mo either.

Su Li held Little Tang Mo after the consultation, doing everything she could to coax him to sleep.

Wu Sheng waited for Su Li to calm down before discussing the discharge with her.

”Let’s have him discharged for now. I’ll help you look for a psychologist. Once I find a suitable one, we can take Little Point to see them.”

Su Li nodded. ”Okay.”

Wu Sheng ran around getting the discharge paperwork done, then carried their things and took Su Li and Little Tang Mo home.

Su Li didn’t sleep a wink that night.

Early the next morning, Wu Sheng called.

”Su Li, don’t head out to look for a doctor just yet. I found out about two suitable ones—one who returned from abroad and one local. I’ll go meet them first. If they’re a good fit, they could come for a visit this afternoon.”

Su Li let out a sigh of relief, feeling a wave of emotions.

”Thank you, Wu Sheng. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what I would...”

If it weren’t for Wu Sheng, Su Li didn’t know what state she would be in right now.

She tried her best to be strong and even thought she was strong enough. But when these things happened one after another, she still couldn’t remain completely calm and composed.

Wu Sheng sighed. ”You’re already doing a great job, Su Li.”

Anyone can be rational and calm when something doesn’t concern them personally. But when it comes to something they truly care about, how many people in this world can stay level-headed the entire time?

After hanging up with Wu Sheng, Su Li washed her face, pulled herself together, and made breakfast. She practiced smiling in the mirror before opening the bedroom door.

Little Tang Mo’s eyes were closed, but his tense body told Su Li that was all he was doing—just closing his eyes.

She asked in a gentle voice, ”Little Mo? Are you awake?”

Little Tang Mo didn’t react.

”If you’re awake, it’s time to get up and have breakfast.”

Little Tang Mo didn’t open his eyes, but his fingers were already twisted together.

Starting yesterday, Little Tang Mo’s condition had reverted to how it was before. No, it was even worse.

He had retreated into his shell again, refusing all communication with the outside world.

Every time Little Tang Mo wrung his hands, he used so much force that his knuckles turned white.

Su Li went to take Little Tang Mo’s hand. ”No sleeping in, it’s time to get up. If you don’t get up, Mommy is going to pick you up.”

Little Tang Mo finally got up.

But he didn’t make eye contact with Su Li even once.

After they ate, Su Li took out the picture books Little Tang Mo used to have at home and began telling him stories while holding him, just like before.

Little Tang Mo would zone out at times, but he didn’t struggle to get away.

Around noon, Wu Sheng knocked on Su Li’s door.

He had met with both doctors. After observing them, he chose the female doctor, who seemed gentler and more patient.

Su Li spent that afternoon at the hospital, with Wu Sheng by her side the whole time.

After the doctor had seen Little Tang Mo’s condition, she spoke with Su Li for over an hour.

”It’s clearly psychological trauma. Based on what you’ve told me and my initial observations, he actually wants to speak but just can’t. Compared to those who resist speaking or don’t want to speak, this is actually a good sign.”

”Really?” Su Li asked urgently.

”Yes. Let’s look on the bright side. We need to be patient with treatment for this condition, but we can’t let it drag on for too long either.”

If it drags on and Little Tang Mo remains unable to speak, the pressure on him will mount, making recovery more and more difficult.

Su Li understood.

”Then please tell me what to do, Doctor. I’ll cooperate completely.”

”Okay...” The doctor patiently and thoroughly explained many treatment methods to Su Li and advised against hospitalizing Little Tang Mo.

An unfamiliar hospital environment is no better than being at home. In a familiar place where he feels safe, he can begin to overcome the fear and effects of his past abuse. Once he slowly learns that speaking doesn’t bring disaster but is actually a good thing, his condition might improve.

”There are also many cases where someone suddenly loses the ability to speak, nothing seems to help, and then they suddenly start talking again. So, you have to have faith.”

The doctor patiently explained.

She knew very well that in her line of work, guiding and encouraging the family was just as important as treating the patient. After all, the family members go through a lot of hardship too.

”This is all based on Little Mo’s condition. Go home, read it carefully, and follow the suggestions to monitor his recovery. For now, let’s have two follow-up appointments a week.”

”Okay, thank you, Doctor.” Su Li quickly took it.

”You’re welcome.”

As Su Li was about to leave, the doctor thought for a moment and added a warning. ”Oh, and make sure the child doesn’t hurt himself. You must prevent any acts of self-harm.”

Su Li immediately thought of when Little Tang Mo had banged the back of his head against the wall. ”Will that kind of thing happen again?”

The doctor shook her head. ”I can’t be sure. I’m just telling you all the possibilities. You need to be vigilant and check on his condition at all times.”

Su Li took a deep breath and nodded.

When she came out, she saw Wu Sheng and Little Tang Mo sitting on a chair to the side.

Little Tang Mo was sitting obediently on the chair, his mouth moving slightly.

”I coaxed him into eating a piece of milk candy.” Wu Sheng took a couple of steps forward. ”What did the doctor say?”

”She said it’s psychological trauma and he’ll need to recover slowly.” Su Li pointed to the booklet the doctor had given her. ”She wrote down everything we need to do.”

Wu Sheng nodded. Seeing the look on Su Li’s face, he asked, ”What else?”

”She said that even though he doesn’t show it, he’s actually become abnormally dependent on me. I need to stay in his line of sight often to give him a sense of security.”

”She also said...” Su Li took a deep breath.

”She also said... she also said to watch his condition at all times and not let him self-harm.”

Su Li didn’t even know how she managed to say those last two words.

She was filled with an intense, burning hatred.

Wu Sheng silently patted Su Li’s shoulder.

「Meanwhile, things were getting unusually lively over at the family residence compound.」

Because of the court’s investigation, they had come for the defendant, Mrs. Tang.

They were there to investigate and needed to take Mrs. Tang in for questioning.

”...Ms. Tang Guihua, we’ll have to ask you to come with us.”

Mrs. Tang was already terrified just from hearing that Su Li had sued her, the dreadful words ”child abuse” and ”attempted murder” ringing in her ears. Seeing the uniformed officers telling her she had to go with them, she was both shocked and terrified.

”I’m not going! I was wrong, I was wrong! Please, don’t take me away...”

Mrs. Tang pressed her palms together, begging the officers.

The officers had seen it all. Seeing that Mrs. Tang was being completely uncooperative, they sighed and stepped forward.

”Please cooperate.”

As they escorted her out of the Tang Family home, Mrs. Tang started screaming in terror.

”Tangyuan, Tangyuan! Mom was wrong! Quick, tell them not to take me away!”

Tang Yuanxiao, who had rushed over after hearing the news, hurried to block their path.

When he heard they were from the court and that Su Li had sued Mrs. Tang, his expression changed drastically.

”She really sued...”

Hearing Su Li’s name, Mrs. Tang was even more horrified. The image of Miao Fenghua and Su Dan in prison flashed through her mind.

”I don’t want to go to prison! I don’t want to go to prison...”

Mrs. Tang was so terrified and overwrought that after a few screams, she fainted dead away.

Then she started convulsing.

”Mom!”

”Quick, call a doctor!”
