The Duke's Pampered Darling is So Scheming

Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Prince Lie

The last thread of Mrs. Gao’s sanity snapped.

”Bitch!”

Her eyes bloodshot, she lunged forward, raising her hand high as if to strike Ye Chutang across the face!

But she had barely taken a step before a servant blocked her path and unceremoniously shoved her back.

”Insolence!”

’This is our true Shopkeeper!’

’If they let Mrs. Gao strike their Shopkeeper right in front of the Yunlai Tavern, they might as well all pack up and get out!’

Although the Yunlai Tavern hadn’t been open long, business was booming. Moreover, the tavern was generous to its staff, and countless people were desperate to work here.

This was Ye Chutang’s first official visit, so of course they had to make a good impression.

Mrs. Gao was no match for them. She stumbled back several steps, twisting her ankle.

Her face contorted in pain, she bent over, her body trembling as cold sweat beaded on her forehead.

”You were a bit too rough,” Ye Chutang said softly, glancing at the two servants. ”All visitors are guests.”

The servants quickly bowed their heads and admitted their mistake.

Of course, Ye Chutang had no real intention of holding them responsible. After all, everyone present had seen clearly that Mrs. Gao had started the trouble.

”Mr. Murong.” Ye Chutang turned to Murong Ye, who was preparing to leave. ”I’ve just returned to the capital and still have matters to attend to. I happened to hear that my second aunt and cousin are staying at your private villa. I’ll have to trouble you, Mr. Murong, to take my aunt back so she can rest and recover.”

Murong Ye was seething with rage.

”What nonsense are you spouting—”

”If something were to happen to my second aunt, Shixian would only worry.”

”You!”

Murong Ye was left speechless.

Secrets never stay secret for long. At this point, no matter how vehemently he denied it, the crowd wouldn’t believe him.

Sensing the gazes on him filling with mockery and scorn, Murong Ye couldn’t be bothered with anything else. With a furious flick of his sleeves, he stormed away.

Mrs. Gao was also forcibly dragged away by his attendants.

And so, the farce came to an end.

Ye Yunfeng glanced back, a cold sneer playing on his lips. ”I knew they wouldn’t let this go. We’ve only just returned to the capital, and they’re already giving us such a ’grand gift’.”

Ye Chutang nodded. ”Tell me about it. Perhaps they knew our journey back was too boring and decided to sacrifice themselves for our entertainment?”

Ye Jingyan: ”...”

Xiao Wu, on the other hand, couldn’t care less about such things. It was just a petty squabble, not even worth a second glance.

She looked up at the Yunlai Tavern before them, her eyes sparkling.

’This place looks like it makes a lot of money!’

...

Ye Chutang and her party went upstairs.

The tavern had been renovated according to Ye Chutang’s own blueprints, but this was her first time visiting since the work was completed.

In addition to the private rooms available to the public, there was one she had reserved for her personal use.

As Xiao Wu walked in, she gazed around curiously, feeling that every brick and tile, every plant and piece of wood, was exceptionally stylish.

Wine and pastries were already laid out in the private room.

”Second Miss.” After ensuring everything was in order, Xue Ran—whom Ye Chutang had personally appointed as the Shopkeeper of Yunlai Tavern—bowed slightly and said in a low voice, ”Your return is quite timely. A distinguished guest has arrived.”

”Oh?”

Ye Chutang, who was in the middle of feeding Xiao Wu a piece of chestnut cake, paused and lifted her gaze.

Ye Jingyan also looked over, a thoughtful expression on his face.

On its very first day, the Yunlai Tavern had hosted someone as noble as Princess Qingyang. ’So,’ he wondered, ’who could this ”distinguished guest” be, for Xue Ran to report their arrival so formally?’

”Let me guess...”

Ye Chutang tilted her head.

”Is it Prince Lie?”
