The Duke's Pampered Darling is So Scheming

Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Coaxing

Ye Yunfeng’s lips twitched.

”Sis, I may not be as good at my studies as Third Brother, but it’s not like I’m illiterate!”

’That hurts. That really hurts!’

Ye Chutang raised a slight eyebrow. ”Oh, is that so?”

She paused in thought for a moment before saying, ”Our older brother used to have a Military Book he was very fond of. If you want to read it, I can get it for you after we return to the Capital City.”

Ye Yunfeng’s eyes instantly lit up. ”Really?!”

Ye Chutang nodded. ”I keep my word.”

’I just wonder how much the boy will actually understand.’

Having secured her promise, Ye Yunfeng was overjoyed and excited. He wished he could return to the Capital City right this instant to see what kind of Military Book his sister treasured so much!

”Until then, you just stay put.”

Ye Yunfeng nodded readily. ”Okay!”

Ye Chutang shot him a glance. ”From now on, I’ll be supervising your studies myself.”

Ye Yunfeng: ”...”

’Third Brother, save me!’

After sending the boy away, Ye Chutang turned her attention back to the letter from Su Pei’er.

Although it was only a few sentences, she could tell that Su Pei’er was adjusting well over there.

It was a good start.

Suddenly, a sound came from behind her. Ye Chutang turned to see that Xiao Wu had opened her eyes. She looked from side to side, a hint of confusion on her small, soft, pale face.

”You’re awake?”

Ye Chutang spoke, and Xiao Wu looked over at her. As if she had found her anchor, she immediately threw off the blanket and tried to get out of bed.

”No need to get up so quickly.” Ye Chutang put the letter away and walked over. She placed the back of her hand on the Little Milk Group’s forehead and, feeling that the fever hadn’t returned, felt a little relieved.

”We’re in Qingzhou now. This is our own home.”

Ye Chutang explained in a low voice while neatening Xiao Wu’s messy hair.

Xiao Wu hugged her, listening to her voice and smelling her familiar scent, and slowly came to her senses.

’Oh, right. They were back in Qingzhou.’

Ye Chutang tucked her back into the blanket, carefully tucking her in.

Xiao Wu was only four years old. A persistent high fever would be extremely dangerous for her.

That was why she had been watching over her, showing more patience than she would with anyone else.

Xiao Wu nodded obediently, gazing up at Ye Chutang, her big, grape-like eyes full of adoration.

Ye Chutang smiled and tapped the tip of her nose.

”Don’t worry, Big Sis isn’t going anywhere. I’ll stay right here with you.”

Xiao Wu nuzzled her palm before gradually falling asleep again.

Once she heard the sound of steady breathing, the smile on Ye Chutang’s lips faded slightly as she grew pensive.

Xiao Wu’s illness had come on suddenly, and she seemed to have become exceptionally clingy.

She had always been so sensible, never causing anyone to worry, but this time...

Ye Chutang felt like something was different, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was.

After a moment, she gently shook her head.

’She’s still just a child, after all. Being sick is miserable; of course she needs to be looked after carefully.’

’Perhaps she suddenly fell ill from the exhausting journey and not being used to the new climate.’

The sound of the rain outside suddenly grew heavier.

Ye Chutang glanced outside, then held the little one in her arms a little tighter.

”Master, the rain is getting heavier. I’m afraid it won’t be stopping anytime soon.”

Lian Zhou asked, turning his head.

”Why don’t we stop here and find an inn to take shelter from the rain for a while?”

On the second day after leaving the Capital City, they had changed their route and shaken off the unsavory tails behind them.

However, they hadn’t expected such a heavy downpour when they were still two days’ journey from Changzhou.

The roads were muddy and difficult to traverse. A thin layer of mist had already risen from the ground, and the view into the distance was obscured by a curtain of rain.

Shen Yanchuan looked ahead, and he could faintly make out the two words above the city gate.

—Shiluan City.
