Everyone in the Group is a Main Character, Except Me Who's the Villain

114: Date with Chu YaoQin Xiao had no idea about Fang Ming winning the lottery. Or rather, as of now, no one besides Fang Ming himself knew about it.

Otherwise, Qin Xiao wouldn’t have tried to entice him with a mere one-million-yuan promise.

But none of that mattered anymore.

While Qin Xiao was messaging Wu Mingyuan, Fang Ming returned to his workstation and received a message from Chu Yao.

【Chu Yao】: ”Mr. Ming, what are you up to? (Cute.jpg)”

【.】: ”Working.”

【Chu Yao】: ”School starts tomorrow. Want to grab dinner tonight?”

【.】: ”Sure. I’ll message you when I get off work!”

【Chu Yao】: ”Mm-hmm!”

Fang Ming was actually quite emotionally detached; his sense of responsibility toward Chu Yao far outweighed his feelings for her.

Chu Yao’s feelings for him, however, were completely different.

Fang Ming was young, handsome, and fit. More importantly, he had appeared before her during the darkest moment of her life.

Under those circumstances, it would have been abnormal if she didn’t feel anything for him.

However, since their relationship was ostensibly an accident, they could speak freely on their secondary WeChat accounts, while their main account chat history had to maintain the illusion of a gradual progression... Around five in the evening, in a small conference room at the Qin Group.

Seven or eight executives sat upright and still. Qin Xiao sat at the head of the table, his expression cold and stern.

Fang Ming stood before the conference table as Qin Xiao publicly berated him for dereliction of duty, claiming his mind wasn’t on his work. He called him useless, trash—one insult after another. Even the listening executives felt uneasy.

Whether he was acting or truly letting his emotions show, Fang Ming suddenly snapped his head up, ripped off his ID badge, and slammed it onto the conference table.

”Since Young Master Qin feels that way, I’m done. I’ll submit my formal resignation later. That’s it.”

He turned and left, his back radiating suppressed fury. Qin Xiao feigned a towering rage and kicked everyone else out. The executives filed out one by one; no one dared to say a word.

”Phew, that felt good...”

After leaving the Qin Corporation, Fang Ming stretched his body, feeling completely refreshed.

Others played Infernal Affairs, but what was he?? A man of many faces??

He had been wondering if he should resign now that his wings were fully grown and he had no worries, but... this worked out quite well. Not only was his resignation perfectly justified, but it also wouldn’t trigger Qin Xiao’s suspicion.

He politely declined Wang Meng’s suggestion to check out a new bar and told Chen Qian he had plans for the evening.

”I’ve arrived! I’m waiting for you at the bubble tea shop on the first floor of the mall~ (Happy.jpg)”

Chu Yao’s message was followed by a location pin.

Fang Ming replied with a ’Sure.’ He didn’t use the audi a6 this time; instead, he hailed a taxi and got off near a large commercial complex in the south of the city.

This place was some distance from the office building where the Qin Group was located. It wasn’t a traditional wealthy district of Chengdu either, so the foot traffic was relatively less dense, making the probability of running into acquaintances much lower.

Fang Ming got out of the car and walked into the mall.

The air conditioning hit him, dispelling the summer heat.

The mall was bustling with people, mostly young couples, families with children, and middle school students in uniforms.

There was a moderate queue at the trendy bubble tea shop on the first floor. Chu Yao was resting on a bench next to the shop.

Today, she wore a light blue dress that ended just above her knees, revealing a pair of fair, slender calves. Her hair was tied into a refreshing high ponytail, and she carried a canvas bag.

She wore light makeup, and her lip gloss was a faint cherry blossom pink, making her look exceptionally pure and lovely.

Fang Ming acted as if nothing had happened and walked over to gently tap her shoulder.

Chu Yao looked up and saw Fang Ming, her eyes instantly lighting up. ”You’re here!”

”Have you been waiting long?”

”No, I just got here a moment ago,” Chu Yao said with a smile, naturally scooting over to make room for Fang Ming. ”What do you want to drink? My treat.”

”How can I let a girl pay?” Fang Ming said casually.

”Oh, just let me treat you this once.” Chu Yao blinked, her tone slightly coquettish. ”You’ve helped me so much, and I haven’t properly thanked you yet.”

”You’ve already thanked me with your body!”

Fang Ming’s offhand remark made Chu Yao’s face turn bright red.

However, he didn’t push the issue and ordered a Mango Pomelo Sago, while Chu Yao followed up with a coconut jelly milk tea.

”What do you want to eat for dinner?”

Fang Ming took the milk tea and inserted the straw. The icy liquid slid down the straw and into his mouth.

”Anything is fine, it’s up to you.” Chu Yao held her own cup, taking small sips, her eyes curving into crescents.

Like an ordinary couple, they strolled around the mall before finally choosing a Southeast Asian restaurant with good reviews.

The restaurant was decorated with an exotic flair and soft lighting. Each table was separated by bamboo curtains, ensuring a degree of privacy.

After ordering, Fang Ming asked casually, ”School starts tomorrow. Is your dorm all packed?”

”Yes, it’s all ready.” Chu Yao nodded, then hesitated before whispering, ”Li Wei and Zhang Yue... they moved out a few days ago. It seems they’re renting an apartment together near the school.”

Fang Ming wasn’t surprised.

Those two had taken Qin Xiao’s money and done that to Chu Yao. Although they had adamantly denied involvement when Chu Yao confronted them as planned—claiming she just couldn’t handle her liquor—their guilty consciences surely made them afraid to share a room with her.

”It’s better that they moved out. It’ll be peaceful,” Fang Ming said.

”Yeah,” Chu Yao smiled, though her smile was a bit complicated.

The dishes began to arrive.

They chatted while they ate, moving from trivial school matters to recent movies and then to several new ’Instagrammable’ shops in Chengdu.

Chu Yao’s eyes always sparkled when she spoke. Occasionally, when she said something funny, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud, quickly covering her mouth for fear of disturbing other guests.

Fang Ming spent most of the time listening, occasionally joining in with a few words.

Looking at the girl before him who seemed to be deeply in love, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of reflection.

Two months ago, she was a serious university student who was highly wary of strangers.

Now... she was youthful, beautiful, and radiant.

”I’m full.”

After some time, Chu Yao put down her chopsticks, exhaled contentedly, and picked up the bill from the table. ”I’ll go pay.”

”I’ll do it.” Fang Ming reached for the bill.

”No!” Chu Yao shielded the bill in her arms, puffing out her cheeks. ”We agreed it was my treat. You can’t go back on your word.”

As she spoke, she had already pulled out her phone and skillfully scanned the code to pay.

Seeing her serious expression, Fang Ming didn’t insist further. He just smiled and said, ”Fine, next time is on me.”

By the time they left the restaurant, the sky had turned completely dark. Chu Yao pulled Fang Ming along to see a movie.

The movie was a 3D animation suitable for all ages and very popular in the market. By the time Fang Ming and Chu Yao arrived, the theater was already packed.

Nothing happened at first, but shortly after the movie started, a child kept kicking a beautiful woman’s seat??

”Little friend, could you please stop kicking my seat?”

The theater was crowded, and the beautiful woman gave a soft, gentle reminder.

Normally, a child would stop after being reminded, but as soon as the woman turned back around, the child started kicking again, and even harder this time.

Thump, thump, thump!!

”I’ll kick it, I’ll kick it!”

”Hey, what’s wrong with you, kid? Can’t you understand plain English?”

The beautiful woman’s friend was clearly not someone to be trifled with. Annoyed, she snapped in frustration before looking at the child’s parents.

”Are you parents blind? He’s doing this and you don’t know how to discipline him??”

Hearing the accusation, the mother looked at the friend with disdain. ”Sigh, what’s with your attitude? You’re a grown adult, why are you making a fuss with a child?”

”Exactly!” the man beside her chimed in. ”He’s just kicking a chair, not a person. Just shut up and don’t disturb my son while he’s watching the movie.”
