Myths Reawakened

Dark domain.

Senna named her price and asked for the full payment immediately, installments not permitted. No one would say yes to a hundred-million-silker deal without warning. That wasn’t how business should be conducted. Of course Wayne would disagree.

They debated intensely, with Senna winning the first round with her silver tongue. Wayne refused to concede, so they argued, neither able to convince the other. The verbal argument escalated into a physical clash.

In the end, Wayne managed to win a deal with his wealth of hundreds of millions.

The reason the conflict broke out was simple: distance made the heart grow harder...fonder. It had been close to six months since their last contact. Senna had been yearning for her faith. Of course she was going to put in the effort for a grander celebration when she finally had him in her grasp.

Afterwards, the beautiful lady lay in Wayne’s arms lazily, huffing softly. She was like a delicate flower adorned with raindrops, the leisurely look on her face captivating.

Gulp!

Hearing the gulping, Senna smiled. She had long grown out of sweet talk. Only little girls craved it. They were both adults. She liked it when Wayne showed his desire for her.

It might be because of her competitive streak or her obsession with her faith. Whatever the case, Senna felt appeased by Wayne’s reaction, her thoughts nourished by an ecstasy she had not felt before.

“Have you forgotten about me, Wayne?”

“Of course not. I’ve missed you.”

Wayne immediately offered recycled sweet talk, with such ease that he was able to rattle off three thousand words without taking a breath.

Senna rolled her eyes at him. She didn’t even have to think to figure out that he had said those words to many others. She interrupted him, “You’re here for the church. If not for that, you wouldn’t have visited.”

“You misunderstood. I’ve come for you, and since I’m here already, I’m dealing with the matters of the church. Otherwise, I could’ve resolved the problem through a phone call. Why would I have come in person? It’s all for you.” Wayne put his arm around her, easily avoiding the trick question.

“Then why did you bring three servants?”

“They’re bodyguards!”

“As in you’re guarding their bodies?”

“...”

You’re asking a lot of questions today. Jealous?

In half a year, Senna had undergone a substantial change, acting like a troubled woman who had been tormented by her yearning, unlike what she usually claimed to be.

Didn’t you say that you only want the clash of the body and thoughts without either of us interfering in each other’s lives? You’re being disingenuous!

Wayne raised an eyebrow. He liked her change. When she continued to complain, he leaned down and kissed her.

Since she had started to pursue love, she should play by its rules. Love was about the romance between two strong individuals rather than the angst between two weaklings. Why would she complain so much? The rom-com was turning into an angsty drama.

After some entanglement, Senna’s yearning was sated. Since there was important business to finish, she slowly put her clothes on.

She could’ve put her clothes on in a second, but she wouldn’t. It was common knowledge that women could never pull the zips behind their backs on their own.

Senna’s clothes had no zip, but that didn’t stop Wayne from putting the clothes on for her. They wasted more time before he drew the Elemental Mantra to practice combos with Senna.

“We’ve proven that the combo of a dragon and a knight isn’t viable.” Senna shook her head. She had tried many moves with Wayne, none of which would be useful in a fight.

“It’s different this time. I’ve gone on a study trip and learned many new tricks.”

Wayne raised an eyebrow, pointing at her forehead to transmit to her the scenes of a real battle that he had recorded with his thoughts.

They all came from Pope Senna in the inner world. The Nature Knight had overwhelmed her enemies like a natural disaster and gone undefeated. If not for Wayne’s intervention, she would’ve crushed all dissents and become the strongest chosen knight in the inner world. And if the rumors were true, and demigods could escape the inner world, she would’ve been that person.

Senna closed her eyes and received the data, visibly shocked.

“What is that? Your simulation?” She opened her beautiful eyes, brimming with admiration.

Wayne had never seen his vassals as vassals, willing to treat every unlucky soul as equal. Even when interacting with the vengeful spirits, he considered them his employees.

Do was an exception. She was not only an employee, but also a pet.

The look of admiration from someone as stunning as Senna fed his vanity. He smothered a smug smile, shaking his head. “No, it’s data from a real fight, in the inner world...”

He told her about his experience in the inner world, emphasizing her titles and impressive streaks of victories there.

Senna’s eyes shimmered with light. The desire to become powerful, which she had buried in the depths of her heart, slowly surfaced. She imagined herself replicating the scenes in the surface world and couldn’t stop her breath from quickening.

Within Wayne’s harem, Senna was the fiercest and most aggressive one, with a great need for control and great ambition. Wayne’s corruption tipped the scales of desire in her heart, thus alleviating that urge.

Now, seeing her inner world’s counterpart kill her way to the top, her urge awakened again.

She wanted it. It was possible that she was seeking to satisfy her other need after her desire for her faith had been satisfied.

She fantasized for a moment before frowning. Her two urges were contradictory. After comparing them, she chose to give up on satisfying her personal needs, holding onto her yearning for her faith.

Wayne was her everything. Nothing else mattered.

Sensing the change in her, Wayne pulled her into his arms and whispered, “You know what? You hang on my every word now with no personality at all. I like you better when you’re rebellious.”

Senna tilted her head, breaking into a smile when he nodded at her in approval. “If that’s what you want, I’ll do it. But think carefully. I’ll... become someone difficult to control. I hope you won’t feel humiliated then.”

“Don’t worry. I have a lot of hands. I can deal with it.”

“I’ll look forward to it.”

“So will I.”

Wayne smiled. Senna had great potential, so she shouldn’t be wasted in his grasp. It was better to let her do what she wanted free of restrictions. He would like to see what this Senna could achieve.

Senna stroked his chin and raised her eyebrow. “You forbade me from going after Silvia. What now?”

That stumped Wayne. He said in exasperation, “Although she calls you master and should be subject to your torment, I call her mother. I won’t tolerate it if you hurt my mother.”

Senna chuckled. “You can bully your master’s master, but I can’t bully my student? How does that make sense?”

“It’s double standards.”

Wayne gritted his teeth. Since he had decided to let Senna run free, he would honor his promise. He waved, allowing her to do whatever she wanted.

After his wave, the world in Senna’s eyes was suddenly broader. She narrowed her eyes and sneered, “Silvia was passive-aggressive toward me and wanted me to drink the water she had washed her feet in. I won’t let that slide. Sooner or later, I’ll make her pay.”

Wayne closed his eyes and sneered in response. “If you make her pay, I’ll make you pay.”

“That wasn’t the deal!”

“I said I would let you run free, not that you won’t have to live with the consequences.”

“...”

Senna huffed. Her student had chosen well. Though she was dissatisfied, Wayne had made a compromise. She asked, “Is this what you mean when you said that genuine feelings beget genuine feelings?”

“More accurately, we’re doing things out of order.”

“Alright. It’s a good start.” Recovering her ambition, Senna was once again the ambitious woman with strong desires she had been. She said with a frown, “In the inner world, you killed me along with the Sun Knight. How cold-hearted. You could’ve corrupted me and made me do your bidding.”

“No, you’ve killed too many people in the inner world, including the entire Church of Sun and half of the Church of Darkness. Even Anastasia’s father died at your hand.” Wayne shrugged. It would be against the order of the world if the Senna of the inner world didn’t meet her death.

Hearing his warning, Senna reeled in her desires a little. She was a smart Dragonblood. Wayne only needed to give her a slight reminder for her to see where the line was drawn.

She changed the subject: “Speaking of Anastasia, has she been humiliated like me?”

“Humiliated? You climb onto the tall tree of your own volition...” Wayne mumbled, knowing that he was in the wrong. He coughed into his fist. “The situation with Ana is complicated. I was able to get her condition under control, but accidents happened, and I wasn’t able to stop myself.”

“Ana... Such an intimate way to address her. You never planned to control yourself.”

Senna scoffed. She had looked forward to dragging Anastasia into the same mess, but now that she had gotten what she wanted, she was dissatisfied.

What gave Anastasia the right to share him with her?!

“It was an accident. The Goddess of Darkness personally threw Ana into my arms.” Wayne felt wronged. He really wasn’t at fault this time, and neither was Anastasia. It was all the goddess’s doing.

Speaking of Her, he wondered if Ines, Anastasia, and Seleucia had found something at the headquarters of the Church of Darkness.

“The goddess pushed Her Holy Maiden past the point of no return? Such blatant lies. Why don’t you go even further and claim that the Goddess of Darkness has descended to the human world to seduce you?” Senna laughed out loud, her frame shaking with her laughter.

“Well, she did do it.”

“Ha.”

“What? Don’t you believe it?” Wayne’s face flushed like his boasting had been exposed.

“No one would believe you.”

“Wanna bet?” He showed his true intention.

“What’s the stake?”

Senna perked up. She had no reason to turn Wayne down when he was offering her leverage against him.

“If you win, you can do whatever you want. If I win...”

Wayne leaned into Senna’s ear and told her about the cruel reality of the ranking matches. One-on-one matches were out of fashion, and group matches, relay matches, and arena matches were the new trend. If he won, Senna would have to adopt the new norm.

Senna rolled her eyes at him. “I killed her father in the inner world. Aren’t you worried that she would get mad at you for the arrangement?”

“Just tell me if you’d do it!”

“I’m fine with it since I’m going to win,” Senna said calmly. She couldn’t think of a reason she would lose.

“Good. You’re decisive. That’s my condition. If you win... just name your price.”

“My demand is simple...” Senna leaned over and bit Wayne’s ear first before whispering to him, her breath tickling his ear.

Wayne was exasperated by her demand. “Miss Senna, monopoly is wrong. You’re going to leave yourself with no friends, and no one would be willing to do ranked matches with you.”

“Just tell me if you’d accept it!”

“I’m fine with it since I’m going to win.” Wayne wasn’t worried at all since there was no way he would lose.

They shook hands on it. Both believed that they had already won the bet.
