Myths Reawakened

Ostarrichi.

In a library five hundred meters away from the Wien Airport, Wayne was reading Mein Kampf while speaking Prussian with such clear intonation that even Francan people could understand him. He easily blended into the environment.

Ostarrichi had become part of Prussia, now flying black flags on the streets with avid fans of the speech fanatic.

What? Are you not an avid fan? You’re not loyal!

Wayne only brought two vengeful spirits with him, Ottilia and Regina. They had once attended the Holy Maiden selection of the Church of Nature on behalf of Prussia, so they would be of some use.

The scholarly Ottilia was reading the book with Wayne. Regina glanced at the stairs to the library every once in a while with anticipation in her eyes. Before heading out, Wayne had notified Regina, and she requested a meeting with her older sister once arriving in Wien. She missed her.

After what he experienced in the inner world, Wayne agreed readily.

Regina had chosen to meet her twin sister at the library. Wayne contacted Senna with his thoughts and waited for her to arrive.

Hearing the quickly approaching footsteps, Regina perked up with bright eyes. The sisters threw their arms around each other.

“Nilsson!”

Regina wrapped her arms around her older sister and hopped around. Nilsson also looked overjoyed. Their almost identical faces pressed together, blurring the line between the older twin and the younger twin.

Wayne would’ve been unable to differentiate between them by looks alone since, according to him, he didn’t care about the face and couldn’t tell if someone was beautiful. What he cared about was the soul.

Nevertheless, Regina was a vengeful spirit, so her soul was different from Nilsson’s. That was why he could immediately tell them apart.

“Regina, how are you doing in Londan?” Nilsson was worried about her younger sister. She pulled her to the side and asked a lot of questions.

They were sisters in the truest sense.

Nilsson had represented the Prussia District and would attend the Holy Maiden selection along with Regina, but with Wayne and Veronica representing Londan, Flora, the former Holy Maiden, had no choice but to return to Ludwig’s faction. Utilizing his influence, Ludwig replaced Nilsson with Ottilia.

Later, Ludwig ordered Flora to erase the traces and killed both Ottilia and Regina. Wayne, as a good Windsorian, turned them into his vengeful spirits.

Nilsson didn’t know that her younger sister was now a walking dead. She didn’t seem like one with a warm body and a heartbeat. Nilsson only knew that Regina had gotten dragged into the overt and under-the-table conflicts between the higher-ups of the church. Her name was put on the wanted list before being struck out. In the end, she was excommunicated, no longer a member of the Church of Nature.

Regina later traveled to the distant land of Londan, working at a library and no longer leading the life of a mage.

Since the Holy Maiden selection, the sisters had met twice. Nilsson was worried that her younger sister would be taken advantage of, so after asking after her, Nilsson suggested that she return to Prussia and seek a new job.

“The world is chaotic. Only Prussia is safe, while all other countries are punching bags. Listen to me and stay here instead of returning to Londan. What if war spreads to Windsor?”

“Then I’ll effectively be in Prussia.”

...Makes sense!

Nilsson felt her temple throb. She didn’t know how she should change her sister’s mind. From the corner of her eye, she saw Wayne and Ottilia reading a book together. Her light purple eyes glinted.

Nilsson was dissatisfied with Ottilia, the bespectacled girl. She had replaced her as a Holy Maiden candidate and rendered over a decade of hard work obsolete. It would be fine if that were it, but then Ottilia and Regina had both been wanted and excommunicated by the church. Both headed to Londan and were working at the same library.

How dare you take my younger sister from me and refuse to let go?!

Nilsson shot Ottilia a glare. When Ottilia said nothing, she huffed triumphantly and said, “Who is that guy? Ottilia’s boyfriend? They look like a good match.”

Ottilia looked up and caught the keywords. She cracked a smile, taking an instant liking to Nilsson.

I like the sound of that. Keep going.

“Yes, Boss is her boyfriend.” Regina nodded. She knew Ottilia’s situation well. She could’ve gotten together with Wayne and become part of his large harem, but due to her becoming a vengeful spirit and Wayne becoming her undeniable superior, they could never be lovers of equal standing.

What a tragedy!

Although Wayne had been treating Ottilia well, always sharing with her as soon as he found something fun or delicious, as well as going to the cinema with her and spending time with her at the library, it was out of a superior’s pity for their subordinate. They could never interact as they had before. There was no turning back.

Regina knew about Ottilia’s concern, so she always spoke up for her. Today was no exception.

“Your boss?”

“Yes, the library is his. I’m working for him,” Regina said with a nod. When her older sister looked suspicious, she hurriedly explained, “Boss is a good person. He takes good care of me. Not only did he make me his secretary with double the salary, but he also gives me bonuses regularly and goes shopping with me to buy me clothes, accessories, and bags. What I’m wearing now is his gift.”

(는_는)

Are you hearing yourself, Little Sis?

“Regina, our family has money. You don’t need to work for someone else to lead a good life,” Nilsson said seriously.

She finally realized that Ottilia wasn’t the one who had stolen her younger sister from her, but Ottilia’s boyfriend, Wayne, which was worse. She would rather Ottilia be the thief!

Wayne’s image in Nilsson’s mind immediately worsened. She was quite certain that he was a scumbag.

Seeing the look of disapproval on her sister’s face, Regina hurriedly tried to improve her boss’s image. “I’m untouched. Why should I live off our family’s money? As my boss said, everyone should rely on themselves. Money I’ve earned with my own hands is money I can spend without guilt.”

“But you rely on him for food and other needs in life,” Nilsson said.

You’re right! Regina cocked her head. Even her life was a gift from Wayne. She agreed, “Yes, I owe Boss a lot.”

“Open your eyes. That’s not what I mean.”

Realizing that her words had the opposite effect she wanted, Nilsson quickly interrupted Regina’s devoted declaration. She had to wonder what Wayne had been feeding her sister, turning the bright girl into an idiot.

She fake-coughed into her fist and leaned in to whisper, “I mean that your boss is a scumbag and a pervert. Do you understand?”

She was surprised when Regina didn’t seem bothered.

“Say something, Regina!”

“I have nothing to say. That’s what Boss says about himself.”

“Then why wouldn’t you leave?”

“Because he treats me well.”

“Silly girl. He’s doing it for a reason.” Nilsson was beyond frustrated by her naive sister. She whispered, “I’ll spell it out for you. Is he an important, rich noble in Londan with a lot of women orbiting him?”

“Whoa, you’re a hundred percent right!” Regina exclaimed.

That’s not the point!

Nilsson had to suppress the urge to wake her naive sister with a punch. She had been a smart girl. She must have inhaled too much of the smog in Londan.

“Don’t you get it? He’s only treating you nicely because he covets your body. He wants to do that with you.”

“Um, I don’t think so. He’s usually quite busy...” Regina waved her hand in denial. The girls at the library had tried to tempt Wayne many times right before Regina, even using Flora’s body to market a taboo threesome with the master and her student. None had ever succeeded. Wayne had kicked them out with a smile every time.

Not only was Flora’s empty body untouched, but even Ottilia, Wayne’s girlfriend in name only, remained in her original packaging.

Her older sister was worried for nothing. While her boss was a scumbag with a messy private life, with no shortage of beautiful women surrounding him, she knew that he was a good person and had been taking good care of the unfortunate victims.

Even if Wayne truly wanted her, he only had to beckon to her, and she would go to him.

She couldn’t resist!

Nilsson had tried the soft touch and the harsh warning. When her younger sister insisted on following the scumbag, she angrily clutched her wrists. She would take Regina back today even if she had to kidnap her.

Regina smiled. Out of a cat-like instinct to keep her hand above others’, she broke out of Nilsson’s grip and caught her wrist instead. She smirked, “If you’re so worried about me, why don’t you come to Londan to work with me?”

Nilsson looked at Regina in surprise. It had only been half a year since they last met, yet her sister’s life essence had already far surpassed hers. She was able to easily restrain and overpower her.

Did Londan’s smog improve one’s physique? In exchange for intelligence?

Nilsson refused to accept defeat. Grunting, she tried several times to break out of Regina’s grip, but couldn’t. Regina’s self-satisfied, composed look infuriated her.

The older sister should be the one to bully the younger sister. Since when was the younger sister able to walk all over the older sister?

She refused to accept defeat!

Soon, Nilsson collapsed at the table in exhaustion. Regina ruffled her hair, envying her freedom. “Don’t worry. I’m leading a good life with many girls around me. I’ve been happy every day.”

“I’m even more worried...”

Nilsson looked up. She was about to say something when she heard light footsteps coming from behind her.

The fragrant wind blew past her in an instant. The newcomer moved so fast that Nilsson couldn’t react at all, not even capture her afterimage.

Amazing. Who was she, and how was she so powerful?

Nilsson looked over, her shock quickly morphing into a blank look of speechlessness. “Look, your boss is kissing another woman right in front of his girlfriend, and you call him a good person?”

Senna had sat down on Wayne’s lap like it was the natural thing to do. Glancing at Ottilia, Senna glided her finger along Wayne’s neck and lifted his chin, parting her thin lips for a deep kiss. While kissing, they also started touching each other, like they were going to get exhibitionist in broad daylight.

Nilsson covered her eyes with her hands, keeping her fingers parted. Senna’s beauty required no further description, and Wayne was quite a pretty boy, too. Both were tall and slim, standing on long legs[1]. Watching them make out left her heart racing. She wanted the paid program.

But then she remembered that her younger sister was still around. She quickly covered Regina’s eyes.

“You’re too young for this. Curiosity will lead you to making mistakes!”

“We were born on the same day.”

“I was born five minutes earlier!” Nilsson said with the authority of the older sister. While telling her sister not to look with a blush and a racing heart, she watched the live show with wide eyes.

“Enough already. You’re being a bad influence on the children.” Wayne patted Senna on the bottom and pulled his other hand out of her collar. Her sweetness lingered in his mouth, and her eyes were dazed and slightly moist, making his heart pound.

She was too beautiful!

1. The original is literally, “The man’s eggs are high, and the woman’s lips are high.” It’s a vulgar double entendre. ‘Eggs (balls) high’ is pronounced the same as ‘cake (dan-gao)’. ‘Lips (labia) high’ is pronounced the same as ‘lipstick (chuen-gao)’. Basically, they have long legs. ☜
