Myths Reawakened

Without a doubt, the divine blood came from Saint George, an angel who had descended to the mortal realm in his original form, rather than a reincarnated angel who had been reborn as a human and lost their memories!

Saint George had left behind his divine blood and the Oath Sword, which had been used to slay dragons. He even preserved the dragon’s vitality and hid it beyond the Grey Space, placed near his descendants.

That proved that angels were not emotionless beings. At the very least, this angel in particular cared deeply for his descendants and left behind a great treasure trove before returning to Heaven. The inexhaustible trove was enough for the Windsor family to dominate the Chosen Land and strike down anyone who displeased them.

“How touching.”

While Darienne was lost in thought, Wayne created a glass vial and collected several drops of the divine blood. It was untainted and undiluted, purer than the blood that flowed in Sophelia, Edward, and Juno. The divine blood of the three royals would need to be cleansed by Laws to restore its former might, while these few drops were ready to awaken immediately.

“What do you want to do with that? Let me be clear with you. This is Heaven’s blood. It’ll alter your life form and make you evolve into an angel in the end,” Darienne warned. “Your thoughts will transform along with your body, and you’ll come to worship the Holy Light whether you want it or not. You’ll be unable to wield White Night Creed. That’s an act of betrayal of the goddess, and I won’t ignore the transgression.”

“Really? So I’m not betraying the goddess by picking up the White Night Creed, Elemental Mantra, and Dawn Doctrine?”

“That’s different. The goddesses chose you at the same time. Special circumstances call for special measures. The two cases are not the same.”

...So at the end of the day, the goddesses still have the final say.

Wayne shrugged, putting the divine blood away in his personal storage. “Don’t worry. I’m not interested in angels’ evolution. I’m keeping the divine blood as part of my collection. Who knows, it might come in handy someday!”

“I see. You want to use it on the Windsor royal family.” Darienne looked at him derisively. “Let me guess: is it the Queen or the Princess? Or maybe both? Don’t tell me you’ve already gotten involved with the mother and daughter?”

(눈_눈)

Promise me. Don’t ever speak such vulgar words with that aloof, beautiful face of yours. No, just stop talking altogether!

Wayne rolled his eyes. “What are you thinking? The Queen and my father, Auston, are lovers. The Princess is Auston’s daughter. One is practically my stepmother, while the other is my sister. How could I possibly get involved with them?”

“Is that really impossible?”

“Objection! That’s a stereotype of nobles!”

“Objection denied. I’m speaking based on facts.” Darienne counted on her fingers. “See, you’re Auston’s son and Silvia’s student. Auston and Silvia have a daughter named Veronica. For the sake of passing down the family bloodline, you’re engaged with your younger sister. If a younger sister is acceptable, an older sister is, too. That’s just the noble way.”

“Wait. Where did you hear that version of the story? Didn’t I tell you the truth last time?”

“Filomina told me,” Darienne said, fully convinced. “Veronica isn’t adopted. Auston himself said so!”

While playing cards with Wayne’s harem the past few days, Darienne had heard two different versions of the story from Filomina and Kristen, respectively. Unable to figure out the Lando family’s complicated family tree, she simply went with the flow and believed the version that was most popular.

Wayne fell silent. He wanted to say that the version was outdated, but the words died in his throat.

The rumors became increasingly outrageous thanks to the embellishments of the gleeful gossipers. It was beyond his control now. Even Auston had given up on resisting, so what point was there in struggling? Whatever. It didn’t matter.

Besides, Veronica should be the one resisting the rumors. She had been flip-flopping between being a biological daughter and an adopted one until even she wasn’t sure about her lineage anymore. Perhaps in the next version, she would’ve become Megan’s daughter instead.

With the divine blood collected and the great dragon’s vitality continuously exhausted and converted into dragon blood, only the mountain of dragon bones, drifting flames, and the Law of Death remained.

Seeing that the space could no longer stay stable, Darienne dismantled the alchemy circle and moved the dragon’s remains to the Grey Space.

“The dragon bones are extremely sturdy, so it’ll take a long time to forge them. How many Dragontooth Swords do you want?”

“Do you mean I can specify the quantity?” Wayne asked.

“Yes. The longer it takes, the higher the quality of the finished swords, but the fewer swords there will be.”

“Then go with the longest duration.”

When it came to magic, he had always held onto the same principle: he would have the best or nothing at all.

“But I want to play cards...” Darienne said gloomily, bargaining for a greater price.

“Enough with that!” Wayne gritted his teeth. “After you’re done with the swords, I’ll play all the card games you want.”

He activated the portal in the Grey Space and opened a passage to the headquarters of the Ministry of Magic, preparing to discuss things with Auston. He had collected too much dragon blood today. The procedures for Silvia and Veronica would need to be adjusted.

Also, the fallen dragon had nothing to do with the Goddess of Sun’s knights. It was an inheritance that Saint George had left for his descendants. Megan’s birth concerned something else. They had to find out more about it.

Wayne imagined Queen Sophelia drawing the Oath Sword in Windsor’s hour of need, awakening her Blood of Heaven, and riding on the mount left by her ancestor. The mount then reincarnated into Megan.

That was too far-fetched and required too much imagination, so he wanted Auston’s opinions.

Bam!

Wayne kicked open the door to the office, immediately seeing Auston buried in work and Queen Sophelia desperately pulling down the hem of her skirt.

A miniskirt with black stockings. How scandalous!

Queen Sophelia’s ill intent is known to everyone[1]. As a representative of everyone, Wayne wanted nothing more than to photograph this moment and print it out for Master Silvia.

It didn’t matter that Auston hadn’t done anything. He had definitely seen the Queen in this improper state.

Master, he’s looking at other women!

That alone would send Auston flying into the sky.

Wayne approached Auston with a look of disgust and contempt, as if he had caught them in the act. Auston understood it but didn’t bother defending himself; why waste his breath when Wayne was adamant in framing him?

“How did it go? Was the demon handled?”

“The Moonlight Knight stepped in and poof! The demon was gone.”

“She... doesn’t seem trustworthy... does she?”

Auston wasn’t sure, but he suspected that Darienne and Wayne had already done it. Though it would be absurd, this was Wayne after all!

“No worries. The knight doesn’t care about trivial matters. She has high moral standards, just like me. As for why the demon entered Saint George’s Church...”

Wayne noticed from the corner of his eye that Sophelia was listening intently. He coughed into his fist and continued, “It’s late. Let’s leave it at that for today. We’ll talk at home tomorrow.”

If you want to know the full story, I won’t tell you next time!

Wayne stalked out of the office, leaving Sophelia infuriated. Starting a story without finishing it this late at night would keep her awake. How was she going to sleep?

She watched Wayne go with a faint smile. The moment the door closed, she gritted her teeth and lifted her skirt a little, picking up the teapot from the table to refill Auston’s cup with black tea until half full.

Look at me already! If you don’t, I’m going after your son. He’ll definitely look!

Sophelia wanted to say that, but ultimately didn’t. She stood beside Auston with a gentle smile and stayed quiet.

Auston remained buried in his work, indifferent to his surroundings.

Wayne, on the other hand, returned to his secretary’s home and picked up where they had left off. The sounds of waves lapping at the shore continued, and both the host and the guest enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Meanwhile, Archibald walked on the Londan streets after suffering a great loss, his pale face stuck in a bitter smile. He had lost a Philosopher’s Stone and his Hell disguise. Not being able to transform into a demon anymore to frame Hell, he would have trouble doing what he wanted to do in the future.

In addition to the Philosopher’s Stone, he had also used up a magic crystal to substitute himself in lethal danger. It was a single-use treasure from the Papal State. Now he’d have to complete more tasks for the Pope for free to acquire another.

The crystal was precious, but more so the Philosopher’s Stone, even though it was a half-complete one. It wasn’t easy to find a legendary mage who practiced hellish faiths. Time had changed. The Papal State had captured only a handful all these years.

Thinking of his loss, Archibald’s face twisted with misery, which threatened to push him to the verge of transcendence. Not only had tonight’s losses been devastating, but he’d also given Wayne a great gift. Seeing a colleague get wealthy hurt more than losing money himself.

The worst part was that he had also lost money.

Fortunately, he still had Titus’s warm bosom to lean on, or he didn’t know where he could seek comfort.

Archibald staggered through the streets. He had paid dearly for the escape, leaving him extremely weak. If Titus wanted, she could humiliate him thoroughly tonight.

A black luxury car drove past. In the back seat, Forest had his arms around two attractive secretaries, a cigar in his mouth. He grinned like he had won in life.

When he looked out and saw Archibald moving with difficulty like he had been pummelled, he smiled even wider.

Forest didn’t intend to do anything to Archibald. He had only come to check whether the angel had succeeded. Clearly, Archibald hadn’t gotten what he wanted and had instead received quite a harsh lesson.

“Two reincarnated angels. There’s another one...”

“Wayne isn’t a reincarnated angel, so the Pope will fail to find another reincarnated angel through him and the Sacred Tome. If Wayne fails, the preparations will be wasted...”

“I should help him out.”

“Let’s see who the second reincarnated angel is!”

The car drove away, leaving a dejected Archibald behind. Since he was wandering around Londan at night with that handsome face of his, he was soon targeted by several burly men.

This was Londan. The local thugs not only went for wealth, but also for pretty faces.

1. A play on “Sima Zhao’s ill intent is known to all,” referring to the well-known general in the Three Kingdoms period. It’s said that his intent to rebel was an open secret. The phrase is then widely used when someone’s ulterior motives/ill intentions are obvious. ☜
