Myths Reawakened

The heart of Saint George’s Church was connected to the Grey Space. Throughout Londan, three locations were connected to it: the headquarters of the Ministry of Magic, Buckingham Palace, and Saint George’s Church.

Among them, the church was the original passage connecting to the Grey Space. George, a dragonslayer, had the Blood of Heaven, or rather, he was an angel who had descended to the mortal realm.

Once upon a time, angels and demons could enter the Chosen Land.

Wayne had obtained the Holy Shroud, which had been stored in Saint Dominic’s Cathedral. However, Saint Dominic was neither human nor angel; instead, the blood of Hell flowed through his veins. He was a descendant of demons who gained entry to Heaven after being bathed in Holy Light.

Demons had descendants in the human world, and the Windsor royal family possessed heavenly blood. Both were powerful evidence that demons and angels once freely roamed the mortal realm.

The Grey Space was once the Divine Realm of a fallen great dragon, and because it was a great dragon, it was referred to as the Draconic Realm.

Unlike what Wayne had speculated, the Draconic Realm that Windsor had captured had nothing to do with the knight order of the Goddess of Sun. Saint George had shattered it with his dragon-slaying blade before placing it beside his descendants.

Windsor’s ancestors had been powerful, but each generation was more useless than the last, and they ended up in a constant decline.

In Sophelia’s generation, to ensure the continuation of the royal bloodline and to keep Windsor as theirs, she had no choice but to put on stockings and work overtime late into the night. Even then, her ex-boyfriend remained indifferent.

The Grey Space left by Saint George was more than met the eye. He had hidden materials in a sacred tome stored at the Church of Heavenly Father, which, after being circulated, ended up in the Papal State’s collection.

The Windsor royal family didn’t know the secrets.

Now, Archibald had followed the trail of secrets right to the church. He didn’t know how much Wayne had obtained and no longer hoped for finding the divine blood, but he believed Wayne most likely hadn’t acquired the treasure recorded in the sacred tome.

“Treasure belongs to the virtuous!”

Those weren’t Archibald’s exact words, but that summarized what he meant.

He ventured alone to the edge of the Grey Space. Looking at the devastation and the repeatedly exploited Grey Space, he couldn’t help but marvel at his colleague’s ruthless method. If things continued like this, the Grey Space would disappear entirely.

Good thing Archibald had arrived early, or the treasure would’ve vanished along with the space.

With a swing of his hand, he retrieved a hand-copied parchment sacred tome from his personal storage. The text on it was too old for modern people to understand. Only scholars who specialized in ancient languages could comprehend it.

Archibald softly recited the sacred tome and walked around the edge of the Grey Space for quite a while before finding the right place. A hazy cross appeared before him, in response to his incantation.

“It’s still here.”

Archibald was deeply relieved. Pressing his fingers to the phantom cross, he rotated it a few times before pushing it forward.

All of a sudden, the empty Grey Space rippled with visible undulations that spread in all directions, and a brand new world slowly unveiled itself.

The sky was covered in roaring flames above the endless mountain ranges, permeated with mist. Everywhere, the air was humid. There were no forests of green trees in the mountains, but there were tangible soil and flowers.

Within the swirling mist, countless white phantoms seemed to dance in the air, gathering and scattering in turns. Scorched by the intense flames in the sky, the mist slowly evaporated and rose before condensing into raindrops and falling back down.

The mist could not extinguish the flames, and the flames could not evaporate all the moisture. The magical cycle reached a balance in this world.

“Great dragon’s life!”

Archibald tossed the parchment sacred tome into the air. It radiated golden light, pointing a path.

With a flick of his fingers, the sacred tome parted the mist and flew straight ahead into the distance. Archibald followed close behind, delving deep into the mysterious fog. The ground beneath his feet was moist and soft, accompanied by rustling noises. The vitality expressed was astounding.

The world born out of a great dragon’s flesh and blood recorded the dragon’s information. Under the Law of fire, energy was converted into matter, creating this peculiar magical space.

Archibald moved with incredible speed and soon arrived at a white mountain range—the great dragon’s bones!

Underneath the thick mist, a towering mountain of dragon bones stood silently. The head was visible, but not the tail. Every piece of massive bone embodied the weathering flow of time.

Mist wove between the dragon bones, sometimes gathering into milky-white silky ribbons, other times transforming into threads. It wrapped around the great dragon’s skeleton, making it seem as if the great dragon was breathing.

Occasionally, a cold draft swept across the ground and stirred the mist. The mountain of bones would make deep, awe-inspiring roars as if the great dragon had come alive. The ancient sounds echoed in the mist, instilling endless fear and awe for a powerful life.

Unfortunately, the dragon’s wings were lowered, and its head remained bowed; its glory had long since passed, so the roars of wind only added a touch of melancholy to the mystery.

Archibald saw the dragon’s past glory in its massive bones. This had been an adult dragon with exceptional power. But the moss attached to the bones and the smell of decay permeating the air gave him a sense of desolation.

Despite its great power, the dragon ultimately became white bones.

Archibald levitated and extended his thoughts, detecting a metallic glint above the dragon’s head. It was Dragonslayer George’s sworn sword!

A divine weapon from Heaven and a great dragon’s malleable vitality more than made the trip worthwhile.

Archibald smiled. He didn’t waste time on sentimentality since delays would breed trouble; this was Wayne’s territory after all, and he didn’t want to confront Wayne. Grabbing the treasure and making a run for it was the optimal course of action.

With a wave, the parchment sacred tome hovering in the air glowed with golden light.

The next second, the sound of the bowstring rippled through the layers of mist. A streak of white light shot through the air, piercing through the sacred tome and sending it flying to the edge of the world.

“Who’s there?” Archibald whirled around, raising his hands and transforming his fingers into claws, unfurling a pair of black wings from his back. His entire body radiated the evil energy of Hell.

“Demon...” Darienne, clad in Moonlight Armor and armed with White Night Creed, took in Archibald’s wary stance, her frosty face breaking with a trace of joy. “Thank you for leading the way here.”

“...”

Archibald’s eyes twitched as he recognized the one and only White Night Creed. With his current power, he stood no chance against the Moonlight Knight. Moreover, he had to hide his identity and couldn’t use the Golden Law of Angels. The restriction of the demonic disguise further lowered his chance.

What terrible timing!

The Moonlight Knight just had to come at this moment. Archibald couldn’t help but suspect that the knight had been tracking him from the moment he arrived in Londan, leading to this ‘chance’ meeting.

“Little Demon, where did you come from? Those are some unusual wings. Whose familiar are you? This isn’t your true appearance, is it?”

Darienne immediately saw through Archibald’s disguise. The Moonlight Knight had seen everything under the moonlight. Even with limited knowledge of demons, she could tell that he was hiding his identity.

“Show your face. If you’re ugly, I’ll give you a swift death.”

Darienne pulled the bowstring, her eyes glinting with delight. The mountain of dragon bones could be reshaped and was extremely well preserved. What a coincidence. She had a drake that might be able to evolve with this.

It had to be the goddess’s guidance that led her to such a wonderful find on an errand.

“If you want my life, let your bow do the talking!”

Archibald raised his arms and shouted. Surging hellish energy spread and roared, condensed into vortexes of dark clouds in the sky. The energy field weighed down space, rumbling as flames filled the sky.

He was powerful!

But how powerful he was depended on whom he was compared to.

The three familiars that had infiltrated Londan were nothing compared to Archibald’s demon disguise. The demons had paled in comparison to a reincarnated angel in being demons. When Archibald was compared to Darienne, though...

He wasn’t bad, at least not in the visual effect department.

Whoosh!

A white arrow pierced through the swirling clouds. The terrifying energy field instantly collapsed, and the mass of black clouds froze over, shattering and falling as hailstones.

When facing a powerful energy attack, destroy it with even more powerful energy. The chosen knights had always been good at meeting brute force with greater brute force.

As hail rained down, the hazy figure wrapped in black mist flew down, reaching Darienne in a flash. He swung a strange weapon of twisted darkness toward the Moonlight Knight’s frosty face.

“I’ll play.”

Darienne raised her longbow to block the black blade. Drawing a thin blade of cold moonlight, she slashed at the face covered in roaring darkness. The energy of death and life, Heaven and Hell clashed violently at this moment.

“What is this?”

“What is this?”

Hiding behind a protruding rock, Wayne looked at the new breed of demon with pitch-black wings and swirling black mist. He learned something new again.

“So there are more than demons in Hell. There are also fallen angels...”

“I didn’t know that!”

Wayne muttered to himself, fixing his gaze on the crucifix greatsword the demon was wielding. The white blade was double-edged, adorned with golden patterns. The magnificent and overpowering design was clearly meant for the strong—Wayne was certain that it was the fruit knife he had lost years ago.

“Heaven rewards the virtuous. God favors an honest-to-god honest man like me...”

“I’ll take the gift!”
