I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 452: Chapter 187: Spoils of War, The First Night Parade of One Hundred Demons (5k)

This mass of flame had just begun to transform into the Demon of Fire, but after losing support, it had fallen back again.

Wen Yan of course knew that by using other methods and bestowing a Blessing of other powers, he could influence the evolutionary direction of the flame.

But he feared it might fall back again and ultimately leave behind some hidden danger.

This seedling obviously had a bit of Spiritual Intelligence, but not much; it was like a developmentally challenged premature baby.

If it could understand Wen Yan’s intentions, it would be controllable and could be kept.

If it couldn’t understand or make its own choices, being too uncontrollable, Wen Yan would not keep such a ticking time bomb.

Auntie hadn’t done much just now; she merely let him proceed according to his own thoughts.

Otherwise, a seedling, even transformed into a Demon of Fire capable of igniting an entire city, could be snuffed out with just one hand by Auntie.

On either side of the Flame Seedling, the flames formed what looked like little hands, waving. After hearing Wen Yan’s words, it took quite a while to respond.

Just as Wen Yan sighed, ready to give up, the flame began to change; the scorching heat gradually weakened, the core of the flame slowly became transparent, and strands of black qi inside the outer flame progressively dissipated.

As it weakened, the flame shrunk to the size of a fist, and the prompt in Wen Yan’s eyes underwent a change.

”Spirit of Fire (In Transition)

”The Spiritual Intelligence of the little sapling isn’t very high, temporarily incapable of understanding complex things.

”But it does have a basic sense of seeking good fortune and avoiding disaster, and it has a long memory.

”It remembers that transforming into a Demon of Fire would immediately bring it a unique beating.

”Therefore, it made a choice at the risk of possibly extinguishing itself.

”It gave up the pursuit of power, the destructive strength of the Demon of Fire.

”Instead, it began to transform towards the Spirit of Fire in pursuit of spirituality.

”It really likes the Yang Energy in you. The first time it sensed your Yang Energy, it was waving at you.

”With some Spiritual Intelligence, though not high, pursuing Spiritual Intelligence is the first choice for an intelligent Creature.”

”Temporary Ability:

1. Jade Pivot Fire Mansion Authentic Talisman.

2. True Seal.”

The effects of the Jade Pivot Fire Mansion Authentic Talisman were known to Wen Yan, but he had not yet tried the True Seal.

Moreover, this time, the Cold Ice Qi had also vanished.

He switched to the True Seal and immediately accessed the detailed information.

”True Seal, a method to imprint core marks, to build connections with certain spiritual objects, commonly used for Magic Artifacts, such as Flying Swords.”

Reading the first part, Wen Yan didn’t quite understand, but with an example, he immediately got it.

He extended a hand, feeling the warmth, and then reached into the bottom of the flame, making contact with the core. The scorching sensation instantly decreased by more than half.

He attempted to leave a True Seal, and the Little Fire Seed showed no resistance, easily accepting the imprint which was an odd overlapping of many characters.

Wen Yan himself could not clearly discern what it was; it seemed unrelated to the Natural Enemy Profession, unrelated to his abilities.

The imprint gradually disappeared into the flame, and Wen Yan felt the scorching sensation fading away, leaving only a warm feeling.

As the Little Fire Seed shrank from the size of a fist and was about to extinguish, now only half a fist in size, Wen Yan tentatively tried to apply a Blessing of Yang Energy.

With a little Blessing of Yang Energy, the Little Fire Seed recovered to the size of a fist. The two little hands that had retracted came back out again and embraced Wen Yan’s finger.

Wen Yan lifted his hand, and atop his fingertip was a flame, holding onto his hand.

It’s certainly enthusiastic about eating.

Being able to apply a Blessing of Yang Energy was enough; at least it wouldn’t starve temporarily.

Wen Yan placed the Little Fire Seed on his shoulder, and it reached out with two little hands, shifting a bit to move itself inside Wen Yan’s collar, clinging tightly to him. Then, grasping Wen Yan’s collar with one little hand, it gradually became motionless as the flame’s flickering also steadily weakened.

Wen Yan turned his head to look. Good heavens, has it fallen asleep already?

A mass of fire, and it still needs to sleep?

Wen Yan ignored the Little Fire Seed and began to wander around the city. All that remained were ruins, and he couldn’t find a single Ghost.

After wandering for quite a while and finding nothing valuable, the only valuable thing he found was a broken scepter on the shattered altar.

This scepter looked like a dried-up tree branch, refined by sanding and appeared just like an ordinary walking stick. Had it not been for the shattered Cat’s Eye Gem embedded in it, he would have overlooked it completely.

He picked it up and observed it repeatedly but failed to discern anything special; he could only store it away for now.

After searching for a long time more, under the altar, he found a passage that had mostly collapsed. He crawled in to take a look but found nothing. This place might have once been a library, but now only ashes remained.

All the books were gone, even the murals had been destroyed. Only tiny fragments of the murals left hints that they had depicted strange things.

It must have been deliberately destroyed.

After all that effort and finding nothing, as Wen Yan was about to leave, he noticed the brazier a few meters in diameter.

Circling the brazier twice, he searched throughout the city but couldn’t find even a single intact rope. Finally, an idea struck him. He left the city and signaled to the warhorse waiting outside.

The warhorse neighed joyously and trotted over, its large head nuzzling into Wen Yan’s embrace.
