I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 185: Chapter 99: In a Flurry, Soul Painter (6k)

In just a few days, all the missing furniture and appliances, every last thing, every bit of maintenance, had been taken care of by Wu Tingsheng.

This guy didn’t even give Wen Yan a chance to refuse—he’d already given him the house, so what’s a bit of extra furniture and appliances? His motto was, if you’re going to do something, do it beautifully and make sure everyone’s totally satisfied.

Those appliances and furniture were better than the ones Wen Yan had at his own place.

And everything here wasn’t in one of those gaudy, blinged-out styles—at least it looked super comfortable, nothing flashy on the outside, but you could tell he’d splurged on the good stuff.

Pei Tugou felt a bit awkward. He’d worked construction before, so he definitely knew how much this set cost—anyway, it was no way something he could afford.

Even without rent, the monthly management fees, utilities, and so on would already be a significant expense.

”Bro, just live here, don’t worry about it. I’m doing someone a favor, they gave this to me, you don’t need to worry about anything.”

”Besides, honestly, this place isn’t that great. Soon, you’ll probably be hearing all sorts of rumors.”

”Anyway, just make do for now. As for the management fees and utilities and stuff, don’t worry about a thing.”

”Get your mom settled in first and let her adapt. I’ll find you a job later.”

”Do you have any ID photos? Give me a few. Also, give me your bank card number, write it all down for me.”

”Yup, yup, I’ll go get them.”

Wen Yan grabbed some ID photos, picked up the little rascal, and left—time to show the little guy around their new place.

He carried the kid to their little courtyard, lifted him up, supporting his head, so he could get a good look around.

”Got a good look? This is your dad’s house, remember what it looks like.”

The little rascal stared wide-eyed, mouth slightly open, looking totally lost.

Wen Yan didn’t worry about whether the kid could understand him or not—he just stepped inside.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Sparrow Cat zoning out with a phone on the sofa, absolutely glued to the screen, while Little Zombie was sprawled out on the coffee table, snoring away.

As soon as Little Zombie sensed Wen Yan was back, he immediately opened his eyes and tried to jump into Wen Yan’s arms.

But halfway there, he saw Wen Yan already holding a little kid, so he suddenly dropped straight down, landing on the floor.

Little Zombie looked confused, stretched out his neck trying to see what was up.

Wen Yan sat down on the sofa, butt-first bumping Sparrow Cat aside, then brought the little rascal right up to Little Zombie.

”This is my son. From now on, we’re all family, got it?”

Little Zombie scooted up to the little rascal, sniffed at him, face scrunched up like he was smelling something nasty.

”What’s wrong?”

Sparrow Cat poked his head over, his cat face full of disdain.

”Your kid just pooped his pants.”

Wen Yan scrambled, trying to change the diaper, but after getting everything off, he realized—he didn’t have any supplies at all.

Thinking quickly, he bundled the baby back up and rushed over to Pei Tugou’s place, handing the kid off to Jia Jinfeng, who cleaned the kid’s butt with practiced skill, wiped him dry, and changed him into a new diaper.

Then she used the back of her hand to check the temperature of the prepared formula, and bottle-fed the little rascal.

Wen Yan sighed to himself—raising a little kid was seriously a hassle.

If he had to do it alone, he probably couldn’t manage; little kids are just too soft, so soft that when he held him, he felt like a careless move would hurt the kid.

It was just that this little brat was tough—he was looking rosier and healthier every day. Wen Yan wondered if the attributes from the Soul Devouring Beast were being transferred to the little guy, bit by bit.

Anyway, according to the hospital, the kid was recovering incredibly fast. He was sturdier and stronger every day, eating and drinking and pooping like a champ, changing before your very eyes—the kind of kid who makes everyone happy to see him.

The pediatricians and nurses love these kinds of babies. Little kids can’t say what’s wrong, so treating them can be such a chore, leaving everyone exhausted at work.

It would be great if every kid was like this one—eats well, drinks well, bounces right back, and is out of the hospital in a flash.

Wen Yan chatted a bit more with the old lady, passing on some safety tips—stuff about the stove, taking baths, and so on. The rest, he’d leave them to figure out.

He headed home to find Zhang Laoxi and Feng Yao each sitting in a chair, brewing tea together.

”Alright, Feng Yao, let’s take care of business.”

”Sparrow Cat, come here, time for a photo.”

As soon as Sparrow Cat heard this, his ears shot up. He stood on the coffee table, cat face serious like he was about to hunt a mouse.

”Open your eyes wide, dilate your pupils a bit, look good for the camera.”

”No, I look more powerful like this.” Sparrow Cat clenched his face like he was straining on the toilet.

Feng Yao snapped a picture, and everyone who saw it had to look away—it really looked like that idiot cat from next door.

Sparrow Cat looked at it and was super pleased—he thought he looked fierce, definitely tough.

Feng Yao opened his laptop and started typing away, entering info to get Sparrow Cat registered as Demon Kin, though really, it was more like a small monthly allowance—basically, here’s some money, don’t go making trouble.

All the info Feng Yao filled in made him look completely ordinary, no special powers, totally harmless.

The daily meal allowance? He bumped it up a notch—to a hundred a day.

He got Sparrow Cat an ID and even a bank card, opened an account and everything.

If Sparrow Cat were in Scorching Sun Department, that kind of allowance would be super high—a feast every meal, no problem.

But since he wasn’t in Scorching Sun Department, the hundred just came as cash—one hundred a day.

Sparrow Cat beamed from ear to ear, immediately announcing he was treating everyone to dinner tonight.

Once Sparrow Cat’s stuff was all sorted, Wen Yan handed Feng Yao two of Pei Tugou’s ID photos.

”Huh, it’s this guy?”

”That’s him,” Wen Yan said, offering no further explanation.
