Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Yan Xiaoxi wanted to help, but Jin Bo refused.

She stood at the kitchen door watching.

Jin Bo glanced back, ”There will be fumes later, and you’ve been busy shooting all morning. Go lie down for a while; it will be ready soon.”

Yan Xiaoxi was indeed a bit tired. She wasn’t so afraid for herself, but there was another inside her, so she returned to the bedroom to rest.

An hour later, Jin Bo finished making lunch, set the table, served the soup, and looked at the four dishes, one soup, and fruit platter on the table with satisfaction. He took off the apron, washed his hands, ”Xiaoxi, lunch is ready.”

As soon as he spoke, there was no response. He glanced towards the bedroom, walked over, and just as he reached the door, he heard her gentle breathing.

She was asleep!

Jin Bo entered the bedroom, sat at the bedside, and looked at Yan Xiaoxi. The sunlight streamed through the balcony, enveloping her in a peculiar warmth.

He raised his hand and gently stroked her cheek.

Yan Xiaoxi woke with a start, opened her eyes, and saw him.

Jin Bo, ”Lunch is ready.”

Yan Xiaoxi murmured an ”mm” and started to get up, but the voice of the old man came to her ears.

Jin Bo, ”Don’t move, I’ll carry you downstairs.”

Yan Xiaoxi, ”...”

She looked at Jin Bo.

Jin Bo leaned over, lifting her up with his long arms, placing her on his lap.

Yan Xiaoxi kissed the collar of his shirt.

Jin Bo put the little far-off slippers near her feet.

Yan Xiaoxi put on the slippers and went to the living room with him, where she saw the exquisite dishes, and suddenly found her appetite, picking up the chopsticks.

Jin Bo watched her eat well, seemingly having gotten her appetite back, ”Feeling better?”

Yan Xiaoxi looked at Jin Bo, nodded, ”Yes.”

Jin Bo patted her hair, ”Good, it’s been hard on you. Once he’s born and grown up, I’ll deal with him.”

Yan Xiaoxi glanced at Jin Bo, remembering how much he adored Xiaoqi. If it’s a girl, he wouldn’t turn into a doting father instantly—just not letting the daughter deal with him would be good.

If it’s a boy, he probably couldn’t bear to deal with him.

In the Huo Family, she saw him love children very much.

Jin Bo, ”What? Don’t believe me?”

Yan Xiaoxi smiled, ”Believing you isn’t enough?”

Jin Bo smiled, no further words, picked some dishes for her.

...

After lunch, Jin Bo called Huo Jinnan to confirm the time. Hearing Huo Jinnan say three o’clock, he responded with a hum, nodded, and went to nap with Yan Xiaoxi.

Yan Xiaoxi lay in bed, eyes closed, then opened them when she heard him come up, looking at him, ”When are we shooting this afternoon?”

Jin Bo looked at her, softly saying, ”Three o’clock.”

Yan Xiaoxi smiled.

Jin Bo’s voice was low and magnetic, ”Let’s nap for an hour.”

Yan Xiaoxi uttered a soft ”mm” and closed her eyes.

Jin Bo looked at her, kissed her eyelids, and pulled her into his embrace, facing her, letting her rest on his arm, nestled close.

Yan Xiaoxi leaned against him, breathed in his scent, and quickly fell into a peaceful sleep.

At ten past two, the alarm clock rang.

Jin Bo heard it, woke up, glanced at Yan Xiaoxi, and seeing she hadn’t awoken, went outside first to tidy up.

Once done, he returned to the bedroom, saw she was awake too, carried her downstairs, and headed straight to the agreed place.

When they arrived, Huo Jinnan had just gotten there as well.

Only Jian Jun’s car had arrived much earlier, waiting for a good half hour.

He glanced at Huo Jinnan, then at Jin Bo, noting the agreed time was three o’clock, and they both arrived exactly at two fifty-nine.

Striking the timing right, must they be so precise?
