The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

The Emperor was furious, and the concubines all knelt down. Lin Daying also knelt down with a pale face.

”Let’s call it a day,” Tianmiao stood up and said.

The flower appreciation banquet ended in such a manner, and when quite a few concubines got up to leave, they cast mocking and sneering glances at Lin Daying. Lin Daying left in utter dejection.

Once all the concubines had left, the Emperor and Tianmiao entered the inner hall, ordered everyone else out and watched the door. Only then did he excitedly say to Tianmiao, ”Mother, Mother, I’ve discovered that these ball-like objects are rather dull. Lin Daying made such a mistake, and the balls didn’t even warn her. I think these balls are nothing to fear.”

”Indeed, these balls seem quite rigid and lack spirit. You need not fear them, my son,” Tianmiao affirmed the Emperor’s words and reassured him.

”Indeed, Mother, I also find some things quite strange. There are four balls in total, and then there’s Consort Shu, who’s different from the others. I seem to be able to see what these people are thinking,” the Emperor recalled, ”For instance, Lin Daying always talks about ancient people and constantly puts on an aloof demeanor. And as for Consort Shu, her peculiarity is not in carrying a ball. Rather, it seems her body is connected to a place that has water and other things, like fruits and vegetables.”

”Since you can now see what they’re thinking, they’re even less of a threat. You’ll know immediately if they have any ill intentions. As for the rest, just observe gradually; you’ll figure it out over time,” Tianmiao understood exactly what the Emperor meant by being connected to a place. That was Consort Shu’s external blessing, a space, created by a low-quality Spiritual Artifact as its foundation. Although this artifact contained Spiritual Energy to nourish the space, the things Consort Shu planted and the Spiritual Spring water she used came at a price. This space thrived on her as its sustenance, first depleting her life, fortune, and eventually her soul, leaving her no chance for reincarnation.

”Okay, Mother, forget about them for now. What shall we eat tonight? Mother’s small kitchen makes such delicious food,” the Emperor asked with eyes wide with expectation.

”You’ll know tonight. Now you should go back for a nap, and then look through some books and handle the documents,” Tianmiao said with a smile.

”Alright, then I’ll come over in the evening,” the Emperor said somewhat reluctantly.

”By the way, all the concubines were present today. Did any of them catch your eye?” Tianmiao asked.

”Ah...” The Emperor thought for a moment, ”There were a couple that were pleasing to the eye.”

”And the Empress?” Tianmiao remembered the Empress, daughter of the Prime Minister. Although young, she was very composed. She had received strict education since childhood, and now as the Empress, she was even more reserved with her emotions. Such a woman wouldn’t be to the Emperor’s liking. For on the day she was established as the Empress, the Emperor visited her palace but never returned since. At other times, the Emperor spent the night in his own palace.

”Like a piece of wood, always so reserved, it’s boring.” The Emperor pursed his lips, but seeing Tianmiao frown slightly, he quickly grinned and said, ”Don’t worry, Mother, I will act appropriately. She is the Empress, and I’ll give her the respect she deserves. I’ll also try to talk to her more and understand her.”

”I trust you know the proper way to handle things,” Tianmiao laughed, ”You can also take a walk in the harem when you have no obligations. Since they’re in the palace as your concubines, do show them some tenderness.”

”Of course, I’ll listen to Mother,” the Emperor nodded obediently, ”Rest assured, Mother.”

If Tianmiao didn’t see the Emperor wearing the imperial crown, she would have reached out to pat his head. Such an obedient son.
