MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1497: Myriad Prodigies: Final Round (8)

”…For our 38th fight for a spot at the top 128, these two participants are definitely someone most of you would recognize thanks to this tournament.”

Although an entire day had already passed since the fights for the top 128 began, Schubert continued to hype up each participant that fought with great enthusiasm, which made the crowd anticipate the appearance of each participant themselves.

”Previously known as the Dark Horse of Astella, this participant has immediately made a name for himself the moment his skills were shown during the first round.”

Saying these words to start off his introduction, the man could not help but smile the moment he noticed the crowd beginning to clamor in response to his words.

”With his skills a stark contrast to his teacher, this participant has shown immense aptitude in the art of magic, which prompted many to agree that this person was the most apt to be called a true mage.”

”Not only that, but heʼs shown a level of strength during his fights that make him hard to ignore, especially considering that each spell he casts is enough to catch the attention of the entire amphitheater.”

”Although heʼs known by others as the leader of the Azure Coalition, the tournament has allowed him to be known by many other names such as Paragon Mage, Archmage of Algerie, Disciple of the Mythslayer…”

”…And the most recent one, Rising Star.”

”However, with the third and final round giving us a glimpse at how he truly fights, I must say that this new moniker probably fits this participant the best.”

”With that being said, let me now introduce you to the Arcane Lord of Destruction…”

”Ataraxia!”

Woooo!!!

At the very moment Ataraxiaʼs name was called, the crowd immediately burst into cheers, the noise they made reaching a similar level to what they showed back when Valyr made an appearance over a dozen fights earlier.

Unsurprisingly, the noise the crowd made reached an all-time high the moment Valyrʼs other identity appeared on the surface, a calm smile adorning his face as he made his way to the main platform.

Once there, the crowd gradually quietened down, prompting the young man to look at Schubert as he intently listened to the introduction of his soon-to-be opponent.

”As for the one fighting the Arcane Lord of Destruction… Iʼm sure some of you know of the recent ambush a few months ago at the south defensive line.”

Listening to the words that left Schubertʼs mouth, part of the crowd nodded in response, understanding where he was coming from. However, the majority showed confusion towards it instead.

Of course, with the man expecting more of the latter, he went ahead and elaborated on what he meant by his earlier words. ”At that time, the south defensive line was considered to be at its weakest state.”

”Having defended against a consecutive number of skirmishes from both the orcs and elves, our forces at the south defensive line were stretched incredibly thin.”

”For a while, the higher-ups at that defensive line wondered why the two races sent their troops to attack them without abandon… only to obtain the answer to that same question the moment they were ambushed.”

”1,000,” said Schubert, his tone solemn. ”Thatʼs the number of orcs and elves that were able to get past the main portion of the south defensive line.”

”Though such a number is only a drop in the bucket out in the frontlines, that number is more than enough to cause chaos behind the defensive line.”

”Especially if their aim was the base of operations of the defensive line itself.”

Hearing those words, almost everyone in the crowd shuddered.

Seeing his words have the impact he thought it did, Schubert inwardly nodded as he continued, ”Without showing any care for their own lives, those orcs and elves caused the energy in their bodies to go berserk, turning themselves into walking bombs of destruction for the sake of their race.”

”However, rather than succeed in taking down the south defensive line, the ambush was only able to destroy half of its base of operations at most.”

”Now, why do you think that was the case?” he asked, smiling mysteriously as he answered that same question a few seconds later.

”Most of it was due to the quick reactions of the people at the defensive line, deciding to contain the 1,000 in a separate space before letting them explode out of their own accord.”

”Yet, that would not be possible if not for the aid of a certain person at that time, a person that had become known throughout the battlefield as the toughest enemy the orcs and elves could fight against.”

At that point, everyone in the crowd immediately understood who Schubert was talking about, causing the crowd to become slightly raucous as they waited for the man to finish his introduction.

Thankfully, after letting his introduction simmer amongst the crowd for a bit more, the man eventually did just that.

”Thereʼs no need to go into detail in what he did during this tournament.”

”In all his fights, heʼs only shown us one thing.”

”That is… the pinnacle of defense.”

”Now, let me introduce you to the Resilient Human Fortress…!”

”Yarkov Leidanus!”

Wooooo!!!

Whilst the crowd erupted into cheers the moment Valyrʼs opponent was fully introduced, the young manʼs attention shifted towards the large and tall man that stepped onto the platform, causing him to recall Jameson from his first fight of the final round.

Though the man before him also wore a set of heavy plate armor, the manʼs armor was a mix of white and gold, causing one to assume that he was more of a paladin than a guardian that went all in on defense.

”Pleased to meet you,” said Ataraxia once the man stood a few steps away from him, extending his hand out for a handshake. ”Nameʼs Ataraxia.”

”…Hmph.” In response, the man swatted Valyrʼs hand away, looking at the young man in disdain. ”You think sowing goodwill with me would make me go easy on you during this fight?”

”Think again, bucko.”

Shaking his head for a bit, the man then began to distance himself from Ataraxia, leaving the latter slightly speechless as he left the young man a few parting words.

”Let your might do the talking.”

”If youʼre able to break through my defense… then perhaps I might be willing to talk you for just a little bit.”

”…” Taking some time to recover from the shock and confusion Yarkovʼs words gave him, Valyr slowly made his way to his side of the platform after that, giving the former a few glances here and there.

Yet, even though he had done nothing to antagonize his opponent, the man continued to look at him with disgust and disdain, which stoked the flames of indignation within the young man.

”Let my might do the talking, huh…?” muttered Valyr to himself, recalling the conversation he had between both identities not long after his original identityʼs fight.

”If thatʼs what you want…”

”…Then thatʼs what youʼll get.”
