MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1491: Myriad Prodigies: Final Round (2)

Whoosh!

After moving to a position where his opponent was open, Valyr imbued his spear with the element of Wind before thrusting it forward, activating one of his ultimate skills as he aimed for the manʼs head.

”Hup!” Feeling a great sense of danger from the spear, Zabek hastily ducked under it and moved to the side, immediately rendering Valyrʼs attack useless.

Nevertheless, the might contained within that spear still caused the manʼs back to be covered in cold sweat, only now realizing why the young man before him had been given such a moniker.

”It was my mistake to underestimate you,” said Zabek with a smile, clenching his fists even tighter than before.

”From now on, Iʼll fight you on the level worthy of your respect.”

”[Land of the Fleeting Pugilist].”

Whoosh!

Imbuing both fists with energy, the man proceeded to conjure a domain that enveloped the entire platform, causing Valyr to feel like he had lost a bit of the strength in his body.

Gazing at the cause behind this slight decrease in strength, the young manʼs expression briefly turned solemn, noticing that the manʼs strength had increased in contrast.

”That kind of domain, huh?” murmured Valyr to himself, only to then let out a chuckle as he released Mystic Energy into his surroundings.

”Domain.”

Whoosh!

Infusing with the thought of reversing the effects of his opponentʼs domain, a pure white domain soon manifested on the same platform, swiftly overlapping with the slightly gray domain that Zabek conjured earlier.

Thinking that the domain Valyr conjured was a domain that would only return the formerʼs strength to before, the man was instead confounded after he noticed that the boost he got from his domain disappeared all of a sudden.

On the other hand, Valyrʼs strength significantly rose after the appearance of the domain, causing him to feel as if he were looking at the rightful owner of the platform he was on.

With the advantage his trump card brought him nullified, Zabek gritted his teeth as he tried to attack Valyr head-on once more.

Whoosh!

”[Pugilistʼs Wrath]!”

Charging towards his opponent, the man proceeded to send a flurry of fists at Valyr, imbuing it with all the strength he had retained after his domainʼs nullification.

”[Refined Mana Barrier].”

In response, Valyr calmly looked at the vast amount of fists coming for him, dispelling a decent portion of it with his spear before conjuring a barrier around him.

Swoosh!

Ting! Ting! Ting!

Making sure to add a couple layers to the barrier he conjured, the young man soon nodded in satisfaction after seeing his barrier easily hold up against the onslaught of his opponent.

Just as he was wondering his plan of action once Zabekʼs barrage of fists was over, the latter decided to double down on the barrage, imbuing it with more energy in the hopes that it would cause the young manʼs barrier to shatter at some point.

Ting! Ting! Ting!

With that, the fight between Valyr and Zabek briefly turned one-sided, the latter continuing to keep up the pressure as he conjured more and more fists to strike the barrier.

Yet, as time gradually passed, he began to doubt whether his plan would work.

”It… doesnʼt seem like itʼs breaking,” murmured Zabek to himself, feeling a slight hint of dread at the fact that not even a crack could be seen on Valyrʼs barrier, even though heʼd already been battering it with fists for over a minute.

Fortunately, after another minute of continuous battering, the barrier began to show signs of weakening, with cracks starting to form in areas where the fists were more condensed.

Crash!

Eventually, Valyrʼs barrier succumbed to the pressure of the fights, prompting Zabek to make use of the opportunity to land a strike that would shift the tides of battle to his favor.

Though, just as heʼd closed the gap between them once more…

”Where did he go…?”

Swoosh!

”…Were you looking for me?”

Feeling the sharp edge of a spear tip placed on his throat, Zabek immediately froze in place as he did not want to risk getting cut by it just because he made any sudden movement.

At the same time, he slowly turned around to look behind him to check if his earlier suspicions were true, only to feel more dread the moment he did.

”…How…?”

Hearing the word that faintly left his opponentʼs mouth, Valyr could only flash a slightly apologetic smile in response, continuing to hold his spear near Zabekʼs neck in the process.

Although he wouldʼve probably won either way if he just allowed his barrier to keep protecting him against Zabekʼs attacks, the young man knew that neither he nor his opponent would be satisfied if it would end that way.

Naturally, the same could be said for the audience, who wanted both sides to go all-out while fighting their opponents.

With that, he pondered over what he could do to end the fight as swiftly as possible without showing any of the more important trump cards he had under his belt.

At that moment, he recalled the stealth skill both he and Ataraxia learned in preparation for the request Lunarossa gave them.

Remembering how well it hid their presence among the masses, the young man hastily came up with a plan where the stealth skill was the basis, causing him to seem like he had disappeared all of a sudden in front of Zabekʼs eyes.

Even though he was actually still standing there, just with the stealth skill activated.

Slowly inching his way closer towards his befuddled opponent, he then pulled off a maneuver that would more or less guarantee his victory… which was pretty much a barefaced threat towards Zabekʼs life.

”Itʼs either you forfeit, or we keep fighting,” said Valyr to the man, his tone slightly cold. ”Whatever you end up choosing, Iʼll respect it.”

”But do keep in mind that I can easily put you in this situation again if I wanted to.”

”…Iʼll forfeit.” Feeling immense shivers from the words he heard from the young man, Zabek understood that there was no point in continuing the fight any further, especially if it meant that all his attacks could be seen through by the young man.

And thus, with the man officially admitting his defeat to Valyr, the latter secured his first victory on the tournamentʼs final round.
