MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 895  Four Pillars: Reunion

Not expecting a couple of notifications to pop out just as he was about to return to Veldanyr, a slight frown appeared on Valyrʼs face as he took a look at it.

Though, as he continued reading through the notifications heʼd received, the frown on his face gradually disappeared.

Instead, a bitter smile took its place.

ʼHaving gone through a lot of things after entering the Gates of Transcendence, it seems Iʼve gradually begun to overlook this quest.ʼ

As this thought came to mind, a faint sigh escaped his lips as he closed the rift heʼd just opened.

Whoosh!

”Hmm?” Unsurprisingly, Vaughn took note of this, looking at Valyr with slight confusion. ”I thought you were leaving?”

Valyr let out a wry chuckle in response. ”I thought so as well. However, I just remembered that thereʼs one more thing I need to do in this place before I leave.”

”Mind coming with me for a bit?” asked the young man, prompting Vaughn to raise his eyebrow in curiosity.

”Would coming with you deduct one of the three requests Iʼve given you to use?” replied Vaughn back.

”Who knew youʼd be this stingy?” said the young man as he let out a bit of laughter in response. ”In any case, letʼs just say it does for now.”

”Well, if thatʼs the case, then I have no choice but to come along,” said Vaughn, to which Valyr nodded in response.

Whoosh!

Closing his eyes for a bit, Valyr sensed the authority he had over the entire inheritance, familiarizing himself with the various features he had just gained access to.

Swoosh!

After going through the various features in his mind for a bit, the young man felt like he had gotten the gist of how to make use of it, prompting a rift leading back to the inheritance proper to appear before the two.

With the appearance of the rift, Valyr looked at Vaughn, urging him with his gaze to cross it.

Seeing as it involved using one of the requests heʼd given him, the man did what he was told, with the young man following behind him.

Swoosh!

Crossing through the rift, the two ended up arriving at the middle of the plains surrounding the city ruins, prompting a wry smile to appear on Valyrʼs face.

ʼI intended for us to appear at the city ruins,ʼ thought the young man to himself, inwardly making a note after that to become more used with controlling the inheritance.

Looking at the aberrations that roamed the plains for a bit, a faint smile adorned Valyrʼs face as he soon activated [Flight of the Azure Dragon].

Whoosh!

Conjuring an azure dragon that he could ride on, the young man offered Vaughn to ride with him.

Of course, with it being Valyrʼs request, there was no need for the man to decline. ”Youʼve gained a lot more from Sellifer than I thought.”

Valyr smiled at that. ”Though she allowed me to comprehend Azure Energy, you could say that the inheritance is the main reason why Iʼve gained so much.”

With banter out of the way, the two then zoomed through the skies of the inheritance proper, crossing through the vast plains and the periphery of the city ruins within minutes.

Eventually, the two of them found themselves near the center of the west quadrant, landing near a hole that had expanded to cover a great portion of the streets.

Thud.

Thud.

Landing on the ground through their own means, Valyr glanced at the primitive humanoids surrounding them, noticing that they were radiating a murderous intent towards them.

In response, the young man flared out his aura in its entirety, even going so far as to activate [Hunterʼs Aura] in the process.

Fwoosh!

Unsurprisingly, with the great disparity that now existed between his and the primitive humanoidsʼ stats, all of the primitive humanoids were petrified in their current states, looking at the young man with immense fear.

With that, it was no surprise that all of them ran away the moment Valyr deactivated [Hunterʼs Aura], causing him to chuckle as he soon jumped down into the hole.

”Follow me.” Hearing those words from Valyr before he jumped down, Vaughn was left without much choice but to follow suit.

Thud. Thud.

”The underground complex.” Once the two of them had arrived safely underground, Vaughn began to look around as memories of the past began surfacing in his mind.

”While the two Arbiters were wreaking havoc on Veldanyr, we evacuated a great number of civilians down underground, hoping that the two wouldnʼt take notice.”

”Unfortunately, the Arbiters were thorough, even going so far as to kill all of the civilians that volunteered to be pushed into the underground complexes.”

”Even if there were survivors, they wouldʼve probably died a long time ago,” said the man, letting out a sigh as he shook his head.

”Anyways, why did you bring me here?” asked Vaughn after that, looking at Valyr with slight curiosity.

”Well…” Scratching his cheek for a bit, the young man looked at him with an awkward smile. ”What if I told you there were still a few that survived?”

Mulling over Valyrʼs words, Vaughn soon frowned. ”Impossible. Over two hundred thousand years had passed since then. At most, the survivors are the descendants of those people.”

”Thatʼs mostly the case,” said the young man as he nodded in agreement. ”However, what if I told you there was a being among them who inherited the memories of someone from that time?”

”What do you mean by inherit?” At those words, Vaughn looked at Valyr with slight confusion.

”Wait… I think inherit wouldnʼt be the right term.” Of course, Valyr understood why Vaughn was confused. ”Itʼs more accurate to say that this being reincarnated hundreds of times, surviving up to this very day.”

”Reincarnated hundreds of times…” Muttering those words a couple of times to himself, Vaughnʼs eyes soon widened in disbelief.

To no surprise, the manʼs expression turned serious after that. ”Forget what weʼve talked about earlier with this using up one of your requests.”

”Lead me to that being you talked about.”

”With pleasure.” Seeing the abrupt shift in Vaughnʼs reaction, Valyr merely smiled as they soon made their way through the various corridors of Ecalos.

From the widest corridors of the area, the two of them eventually found themselves in one of the many narrow corridors the underground area offered, surprisingly stumbling across a being that Valyr had interacted with in the past.

”Valyr! Is that really you?!”

Standing in front of them was a being that looked similar to the primitive humanoids on the surface. However, unlike the primitive humanoids, they had no lacking parts and had pale complexions due to the lack of sunlight.

Taking note of the beingʼs long fingernails, a smile adorned Valyrʼs face as a screen appeared before him.

”Itʼs nice to see you again, Vlrvadh,” replied Valyr as he responded back through the chat screen. ”Though itʼd be nice to talk with you about what Iʼve been doing since Iʼve last entered this place, I need your help on something important.”

”Since itʼs you, I donʼt mind,” said Vlrvadh after fiddling around with his screen for a bit. ”So, what do you need help with?”

”Take me to the Sapient One,” said Valyr through his response, prompting Vlrvadh to go silent for a bit.

Looking back at Valyr, Vlrvadh soon noticed that the young man was pointed to the man beside him.

Faintly surprised that he hadnʼt noticed the manʼs existence till now, Vlrvadh returned his attention to the screen after Valyr sent a message. ”This person that came along with me is someone the Sapient One needs to meet.”

”…” Reading Valyrʼs response, Vlrvadh remained silent once more, looking back and forth between Valyr and the man he brought for a bit.

After some time, Vlrvadh eventually looked at Valyr and nodded, sending the young man a message before turning around.

”Well… Iʼm not sure whether the being that came along with you bears any ill will towards us or the Sapient One, but Iʼll let it be for now since you brought the being here.”

”Follow me.”

…

”Where are we heading?” While the two of them were following Vlrvadh from behind, Vaughn struck up a conversation with the young man.

”Their community,” replied Valyr, faintly smiling as he thought about what would happen when the two of them would meet. ”Anyways, how are you feeling?”

”What do you want me to feel?” said Vaughn as he looked at Valyr with a raised eyebrow.

Noticing that the young manʼs gaze was leading him towards Vlrvadh, Vaughn soon looked back at the former and slightly shrugged his shoulders. ”Well, Iʼm slightly surprised that the descendants of my generation have turned out that way, but itʼs not too surprising,” said the man. ”After all, evolution is not only based on oneʼs genes, but on oneʼs environment as well.”

”Then again, I must say itʼs quite surprising that the blood of the old humans still exist in this place,” the man continued, his gaze towards Valyr now that of slight gratitude. ”If you didnʼt inform of this place, I probably wouldnʼt have known even after I transferred the ownership of you.”

”Did you really not know of this place?” Valyr looked back at Vaughn with slight incredulity. ”With you having authority over the entire inheritance, wouldnʼt you have known of this place a long time ago?”

At those words, Vaughn wryly smiled. ”I may be a Greater God, but this memory extension can only exert the strength of a Myth-level being. Thereʼs only so much I can do, you know?”

”But if your main body were have to used this authority, would you have noticed it?” asked Valyr once more, prompting the smile on Vaughn to turn bitter.

”Yeah,” replied Vaughn, only to sigh soon after. ”And Iʼm disappointed in myself for not noticing earlier.”

After walking through the narrow corridors of the underground for a bit more, Vlrvadh and the two eventually found themselves in Dnal fo Nigiro, the place where the Forgotten Ones thrived.

Unsurprisingly, the two had attracted the attention of many as they roamed through the streets. After all, the two looked vastly different from them.

Though, with the people having seen Valyr back then, and with Vlrvadh leading the way, many of the people merely looked at the two from afar.

With that, it did not take long for the three to arrive at the place where they needed to be, with Vlrvadh sending Valyr a message once they arrived.

”Since youʼve already come here in the past, thereʼs no need for me to accompany you this time around,” said Vlrvadh through the system as he stood guard near the entrance. ”Iʼll just stand guard here for the meantime.”

”Anyways, Iʼve already sent a message beforehand.”

”The Sapient One is expecting you.”
