Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 540: 540: Spent quite a lot of effort

In just a short while, the steaming dishes were ready.

Set on the table, they gave an impression of being exquisite and delectable, with a fragrance that was mouth-watering and appetizing.

Gu Qing’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he stared unbelievingly at the delicious food on the table.

He couldn’t believe that it was actually the handiwork of Gu Tong...

”So, how does it look? Not bad, right!”

Gu Tong was somewhat smug, fully confident in her cooking skills.

She could guarantee that even with her brother’s picky taste buds, her dishes would surely win him over.

”Well, give it a taste then!”

Gu Qing acted as if he was doing her a favor, then leisurely sat down, ready to relish the delicious food on the table.

Gu Tong almost smacked him across the face, thinking, would it kill you to compliment me...

After all, it was a meal made by his sister; did he have to be so indifferent...

Li Yan watched their movements, then found a chair and sat down, his deep eyes gazing at them thoughtfully.

”Damn... Steak and tomato pasta!! Cheese mashed potatoes!! Filet steak!!”

Gu Qing recognized the quality and was a true foodie at heart.

Moreover, he shared the same hobby as Gu Tong, which was a fondness for Western cuisine.

The dishes in front of him were all his favorites! So naturally, he understood the intricacies involved.

Actually, the first two dishes were relatively easy to make, but the last one was quite challenging...

To achieve an authentic taste without formal professional training was especially difficult.

Gu Tong slightly curled her lips, seeing Gu Qing like this.

She felt satisfied too!

According to theory, these dishes were specially made for Gu Qing to eat.

It was a kind of emotional compensation...

After all, in her past life, she was quite a failure as a sister...

Authentic Western cuisine couldn’t be complete without red wine.

Fortunately, Gu Tong had saved a bottle back then, the very one intended for a candlelit dinner with Li Yan.

Now it had a purpose, so she opened it directly.

But unfortunately, they had red wine but no wine glasses, so they had to make do with teacups from the house.

Li Yan lowered his gaze, glancing at the red liquid in the cup, and said, ”When Gu Tong was at the Royal Medical College, she learned Western cooking! After graduating, she must often cook for her big brother-in-law, right?”

The words fell.

Gu Tong’s heart skipped a beat!

She hadn’t forgotten the lies she had told Li Yan before.

Including this one...

Now, with him asking such a question! It proved one thing, Li Yan hadn’t completely believed her story back then.

Gu Tong felt a bit anxious inside! Nervously watching her brother’s reaction...

Afraid he might say the wrong thing...

Gu Qing was biting into the steak but nearly snapped the skewer.

He muttered through clenched teeth, ”Of course, my sister makes this for me every few days!”

As the words fell...

Both Li Yan and Gu Tong were slightly taken aback.

This response was beyond their expectations...

”Filet steak! And steak tomato pasta!! They’re my favorites!! Back then, Gu Tong spent a lot of effort learning to make these two dishes!!”

Clearly, Gu Qing took Li Yan’s words as a provocation!

So he decisively and absolutely counterattacked!

After speaking, he looked at Gu Tong fiercely, as if saying, ’You better play along and continue,’ ’If you mess this up, you’re dead.’
