Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 509: 509: There’s still someone in the well

Her hands alternated, using all of her strength.

Unknowingly, she had already climbed more than halfway!

Just a fraction more, and she would reach the edge of the well―――

At this moment.

The mouth of the well suddenly darkened, covering half of the light.

A lady of the Lord suddenly remembered Gu Tong, who was still at the bottom of the well, hurriedly came to check, only to find herself face-to-face with Gu Tong, who was climbing halfway up!

”Hurry, rescue her... There’s still someone in the well...”

Almost simultaneously, the lady of the Lord let out a startled shout.

This awakened the other ladies of the Lord who were looking after the children.

Only then did they realize that Gu Tong had jumped into the well to save the children. In unison, they all rushed over at the first moment.

Then, maintaining their previous posture, they started the rescue...

The lady of the Lord who initially wanted to embarrass Gu Tong couldn’t help but feel ashamed. None of the ladies were fools; they naturally understood that Gu Tong’s jump into the well was an act of self-sacrifice!

Because of this, they couldn’t help but feel a bit more goodwill toward Gu Tong...

The ladies of the Lord came to help, solving many of Gu Tong’s problems.

It was not as strenuous as before.

She held the rope tightly.

Using her arm strength for support, her upper body had already touched the edge of the well.

”Sister... reach out...”

The ladies of the Lord all extended a hand, proactively trying to pull Gu Tong up.

Gu Tong did not doubt them! Instead, she directly latched her hand onto theirs.

The ladies exerted force, pulling Gu Tong with all their might.

With their concerted effort, it took a great deal of strength to pull Gu Tong up from the well.

...

”Huff, huff...”

Gu Tong was drenched, looking like a water ghost, completely drained of energy.

She collapsed to the ground, gasping heavily...

...

”My back... I’m exhausted...”

The ladies of the Lord beside her weren’t faring much better; they looked like the losing team in a tug of war, releasing their grip and plopping down onto the ground.

Pulling a child and pulling an adult require different amounts of force.

They were all women and didn’t have much strength, let alone still in a state of panic.

Just being able to pull Gu Tong out was already a remarkable feat...

They tacitly stayed in place, recuperating their strength.

Until a sudden voice broke the silence―――

”It’s over... The child isn’t breathing...”

The voice, laden with tears, echoed in everyone’s ears.

In nearly the same instant, everyone’s hearts wrenched.

It felt like a massive hand had squeezed them!

No breath...

What are we going to do...

The ladies of the Lord were utterly flustered, scrambling to their feet and rushing toward the child.

Yet, just then―――

They felt a flash before their eyes.

All they felt was a gust of wind rush past and land directly on the child.

”Move aside! He needs air.”

Gu Tong, being a doctor, was well aware of the child’s condition.

He was severely waterlogged and needed emergency treatment!

No delay was possible, not even for a minute!

As soon as the ladies heard these words, they dispersed almost immediately.

Initially leaderless and without a focal point, with Gu Tong now taking charge, they fared much better.

”Why don’t we... take him to the hospital...”

One lady suggested as she backed away, ”Drowning is a serious matter... We can’t afford any delays...”

Little Bao’s parents were not at home.

If anything happened, they wouldn’t know how to explain themselves.

Of course, this was not just her opinion; the other ladies of the Lord thought the same. Who doesn’t have children to raise? Isn’t it hard enough to bring them up?

This wasn’t shirking responsibility...

But rather an inability to bear it. If they could save the child, they were willing to take any responsibility...

”His trachea has inhaled a large amount of water! It’s obstructing his breathing, causing intense laryngeal spasms! If the airway closes, there’s the imminent risk of suffocating to death.”
