African Entrepreneurship Record

Chapter 577: Chapter 255 Noble Person

”Brother Wang, is this true? Can we really go to East Africa and have a successful life like you?”

Upon hearing this, Andre felt a bit flattered. He naturally appeared distinguished, fresh, and unique. However, he was aware of his own limitations, so he said, ”I wouldn’t call it successful. I’m just an average person in East Africa, leading a fairly carefree life in the Far East for the past year. But honestly, in East Africa, I’m nothing special.”

”Brother Wang, we don’t have high aspirations. We just want to eat well, drink well, and marry a wife. That would make life complete. Unlike you, who is capable and has become an official. As the saying goes, there’s a distinction between officials and civilians, so you don’t need to be modest. We genuinely admire you.”

Hehe, if people under Andre’s command heard this, they would surely dismiss it disdainfully. It’s just a platoon leader! They might think he’s the commander of a military district. However, the flattery from these Far East workers truly touched Andre’s heart.

He boldly said, ”Rest assured, going to East Africa won’t be a letdown. I can’t promise anything else, but you definitely won’t have to worry about food, clothing, and shelter. We are all laborers, and East Africa has always been generous in this regard.”

”On this point, we absolutely trust you. We’ve been working here for so many days, and the food is even more sumptuous than during past New Year’s. Your soldiers are all strong and robust, clearly not lacking in nutrition.”

Andre: ”Haha, that’s natural. I’ve mentioned before, the treatment for the military in East Africa is absolutely top-notch. Have you heard of ranches? It’s a large piece of land where crops aren’t grown, but grass is planted, and a lot of cattle and other livestock are raised. My former units had several ranches supplying meat to the troops.”

”Wow, planting only grass on such land without growing crops? Surely no one would sacrifice fertile land for livestock unless they are wealthy and own plenty of land.”

Andre shook his head and explained, ”The land is good. In my opinion, the ranches’ land is as good as, if not better than, the Far East. But East Africa has plenty of land, so not all of it needs to be used for growing crops. It’s just fine for raising livestock.”

As they spoke, it was time to eat. The canned fish stew on this island was abundant with seafood. However, eating it as a meal every day became tiresome. After three months of the same fare, everyone lost interest in seafood.

Of course, this was only true for the East African military stationed there. The laborers, however, felt content. Many came from the mainland, where seafood was still meat, and paired with East African processed rice and noodles, life was much better than eating bran. In the Far East, many didn’t even have the privilege of eating bran. Having lived through hard times, they were now incredibly satisfied.

Watching the workers beside him devouring their food, Andre originally found the meal a bit bland, but seeing others eat with such relish piqued his appetite, and he dug into his army rations.

After eating, there was some time to digest. Andre seized the opportunity to share his thoughts with the workers: ”If you truly intend to develop in East Africa, as someone who’s been through it, I’d like to offer a suggestion. Once this project is completed, you should have saved a bit of money. It’s best to return to the Far East first and make arrangements. I assume many of you came here to work due to family difficulties, and you probably haven’t married yet. Why not use the wages you’ve earned here to go back and get married? After establishing a family, reach out to me, and then you can move to East Africa together.”

East Africa’s reputation in the Far East is excellent. Naturally, they don’t withhold workers’ wages, and the benefits are much better than the local ones. After working under East African command for a few months, they’ve made a tidy sum, enough to marry. It’s especially important during chaotic times, where sometimes a mouthful of grain can secure a wife. This makes Andre’s suggestion quite practical.

”Brother Wang, can’t we find a wife in East Africa?”

”Of course, you can, but you’d have to wait. You’re not getting any younger. Can you afford to wait? Besides, women in East Africa are valuable, and unless you’re capable, who would take an interest in you? So I suggest getting married in the Far East first, and then developing in East Africa. Also, immigration thresholds have risen a lot now, and family immigration has a higher success rate.”

”Brother Wang, have you settled down in East Africa after all this time?”

Andre shook his head and said, ”Not yet.”

”Brother, even someone as capable as you hasn’t settled down? Is there a lot of competition in East Africa?”

Andre laughed, ”Haha, it’s not that I can’t get married; it’s just that after staying in East Africa for a while, my standards have risen. Another reason is I arrived in East Africa relatively late and missed the good times.”

”Brother Wang, what kind of wife are you looking for? I think my sister is quite nice, gentle, considerate, and hardworking. Would you be interested?”

Andre chuckled, ”I appreciate your goodwill, but I’m looking for a white wife. This choice would help me in the military or after retiring and transitioning to another career.”

With Andre’s explanation, everyone understood he wanted a foreign wife. However, his desire for a foreign spouse only made the workers admire him more.

”Of course, if you aim high and want a foreign wife, it’s not impossible. But East Africa isn’t the same as a few years ago. Opportunities are fewer, and by the time you get to East Africa, things might have changed a lot.”

East African policies support interracial marriage, which is why Andre wants a white wife. It’s common knowledge now that mixed-race children have advantages for the future in East Africa, especially regarding promotion and benefits, due to many implicit policies. Whether in military development or switching to a government or state-owned enterprise position after discharge, having a white wife makes the way smoother.

”Big brother, do you know what children of foreign wives look like? Have you seen any?”

”Haha, certainly, many new generations in East Africa are mixed-race. As for appearance, it’s a blend of both parents. The variation isn’t much! Those meant to be beautiful are beautiful, and the ugly ones remain ugly.”

”Can people in East Africa have multiple wives?”

Hmm! Andre looked surprised at the person asking and said, ”Li San, didn’t expect that from you. You’re usually not very capable, but you have quite an imagination. Are you planning to enjoy the blessings of multiple wives?”

”From what you’re saying, Brother Wang, I’m just curious. After all, isn’t that how wealthy people are?”

”Well, that’s in the Far East. Things are different in East Africa or any Western country. Polygamy isn’t allowed, and you can only marry one wife, even if you’re a king.”

”Aren’t they worried about having no descendants?”

”They don’t seem as concerned about that as we are in the Far East, but of course, some consider family continuity important. They have their own rules. Speaking of which, let me remind you, in other countries, especially in East Africa, always abide by the law and avoid wrongdoing. In East Africa, your record follows you for life and can affect your offspring’s future, so if you go to East Africa, be honest and straightforward.”

”Thank you, big brother, for the lesson. If we had drinks or tea, we would surely toast to you.”

The laborers were genuinely grateful to Andre. In other words, Andre was a benefactor they encountered, and with the help of a benefactor, coupled with seizing opportunities, their future would be much better.
