Chapter 572: Chapter 250: Framed

The mood of the Japanese nation is extraordinary; they employ almost all methods such as arson, robbery, and vandalism, but it falls short of murder. Initially, they intended to direct this at East Africa. Unfortunately, the East African National Defense Security Bureau led them astray, and after stirring up trouble, they promptly withdrew, leaving those caught behind to a miserable fate.

”Bang.”

The lively Russian embassy suddenly quieted down, everyone was stunned.

With one gunshot, a Russian soldier fired. A Japanese mobster was shot dead on the spot, making it impossible for the matter to be settled peacefully.

”You mobsters, we will certainly seek an explanation from your King for this insult to Great Russia!”

But before he could finish, the Japanese grew angrier, ”The German killed someone! The German killed someone!” Of course, there were also shouts that the Russian had killed someone, but the momentum of the former confusion was much greater, thoroughly mixing up the two.

At the entrance of the East African embassy, the crowd, mainly students, was dumbfounded. They also heard the gunshot and the cries of ”The German killed someone!” But wasn’t the gate of the East African embassy closed? How did the German kill anyone?

Of course, there was no rule stating that Germans are necessarily East Africans, nor that Germans have to stay inside the embassy.

Many people rushed towards the direction of the gunshot instead, driven by intense curiosity. Although there was potential danger, it didn’t scare the Japanese. No one stopped them, so naturally, some people went ahead to see the commotion.

The blame here should fall on the Japanese police who disappeared from the streets. Embassy areas are considered important places, so security is usually good, yet today the police had vanished.

The disappearance of Japanese police, of course, is not without reason; they have been waiting for an opportunity. When gunfire rang out in the embassy area, someone knew the situation had become serious.

At that moment, Japanese police rushing from all directions began to disperse the crowd in the embassy area, and as they arrived, they brushed past agents of the East African National Defense Security Bureau.

”Miscellaneous personnel leave immediately, do not stand on the outskirts causing trouble!”

The crowded people made it challenging for the Japanese police to enter the scene, so they had to clear part of those on the outskirts first.

They also wanted to know what had happened inside the embassy area. If East Africans had killed a Japanese citizen, it would be perfect, leading to international opinion favoring Japan.

Of course, these Japanese police were not involved at that level, but being suddenly transferred in the morning, they felt today’s affairs were not simple; surely something was happening at higher levels!

With the Japanese police’s baton education, naturally, no one dared to cause trouble. Arriving at the core of the conflict, they were dumbfounded.

”Is this... here the Russian embassy?” A policeman asked somewhat uncertainly.

At this moment, the Russian embassy was a mess; everywhere lay glass fragments, tables, chairs, and sofas scattered, initially meant to be taken away, but it was impossible to squeeze out, so they opted to grab small things to flee conveniently. Furniture leaned sideways, the floor was covered with footprints, and even the walls were blackened by fire set by unknown persons.

Moreover, crucially, inside the embassy lay a group of wounded, and in the hall lay a Japanese corpse, clearly pierced through the chest by a bullet.

”What happened here?” The Japanese police were somewhat shocked; suddenly, he realized something was wrong!

”Quick, we can’t let them escape, arrest everyone!”

”Chief, who should we arrest?”

”Of course the troublemakers! Now someone is dead, especially a Russian; this is a big deal!”

”Earlier, there were too many people unless we block the entire street, and many may have already run away; we don’t have enough manpower either.”

The Japanese policeman called chief said with an iron face, ”Get people to lock down the entire street; as many as we can catch, catch them! If the suspect runs away, you’ll bear the consequences.”

”I can’t bear it.”

”Then hurry up and grab people?” He said, kicking his subordinate’s butt.

”Yes.”

At this time, a Russian stood up from the ground, seeing the Japanese police disperse the danger, he stood and said, ”Who is in charge here!”

The little devil, who was just showing off to his underlings earlier, hurriedly stepped forward with an apologetic smile: ”It’s me.”

”Who are you?”

”Edo City, Roppongi District Police Chief Ainoda Tazuo.”

Hearing he was the police chief, the Russian slapped Ainoda Tazuo directly on the face and cursed: ”You bastards, hurry up and save Chersky the envoy. If anything happens to the envoy, none of you will escape unpunished!”

After being slapped, Ainoda Tazuo dared not speak his anger, bowing and scraping, said: ”It was our negligence, sorry, Your Excellency!”

He received another slap.

”I told you to save him, not to apologize; Chersky the envoy was knocked over by the mob just now and remains unconscious. Hurry up and escort him to the hospital!”

”Yes.”

Ignoring the swelling pain on his face, Ainoda Tazuo hurriedly commanded his men to assist Chersky.

”He’s still breathing, thankfully, thankfully.”

”Chief, there’s too much crowd outside, it’s hard to send him to the hospital.”

Ainoda Tazuo said with a darkened face, ”Right now, the envoy’s life is the most important, let the crowd squeeze out a passage like rice balls, those who obstruct must be struck hard!”

”Yes.”

After half a day of bustling, the Japanese police gathered most police from Edo and arrested more than fifty thousand people on the spot; prisons and detention centers are overcrowded.

The faces of the police authority’s high-ranking officials had turned so grim they seemed to drip water.

”Fools, why is there nothing wrong with the East African embassy, but the Russian embassy was breached? Can’t these idiots even differentiate flags? East African flags might be unfamiliar, but they should recognize the Russian flag!”

The subordinates dared not speak, listening to the lecture from the chief of Edo Police Department.

”What’s the current situation with Chersky the envoy?”

”No major issues, just bumped and trodden a bit, bruised on the face.”

With a crisp slap sound.

”Idiots, if Chersky the envoy were injured fatally, none here, including me, could escape punishment, and Chersky having facial injuries is already a severe diplomatic incident!”

”Chief, I believe it’s unjust to blame our police department. This was not delinquency on our part but instigated by the military and government; we were late when arriving, hence the blame shouldn’t fall on us.”

”Hmph, you think I don’t know? The problem started the moment they stormed the Russian embassy, and we’re implicated.”

The chief of Edo Police Department was furious as the orders were issued from above, but he knew he’d likely be the scapegoat since the Russians would blame Edo police, for the embassy area’s security was usually handled by the police. The Japanese government, even if for show, would set him up as an exemplary scapegoat.

”These damned students are all failures, can’t even distinguish East Africa from Russia. So, hurry up and find the ’culprits,’ or else...”

”Captain, the scene was too chaotic; it’s impossible to find culprits. Even if we could, finding them would take a long time, enough for the Russian government to make trouble!”

”If there’s no culprits, charge the instigators. Even if they’re not the culprits, they are now!”

”But, Chief, this time the instigators are from Edo First Boys’ High School, where students are either rich or powerful...”

”I don’t care, someone must share our burden; those privileged students are perfect, so gather more, as the law holds not the crowd accountable.”

This blatant framing, nonetheless, seemed proper to the chief of Edo Police Department. If he faced it alone, he’d truly become a scapegoat; involving many privileged students would ease the situation.
