Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor

Chapter 229: Chapter 228: Pill Formation

”Don’t rush. He still has to fuse with a Celestial Fire, doesn’t he?” Li Qinghou appeared perfectly calm.

”First, have Wang Haoran keep a close eye on Ling Fei’s movements,” Li Qinghou said, looking as if he had everything under control. ”I refuse to believe we won’t get a chance to deal with him.”

Clearly, he had already made his preparations to deal with Ling Fei.

...

”Ling Fei has already succeeded in Alchemy?” By now, even Mu Xue and Huang Xiaoman in the Outer Sect had heard the news.

”I’m so happy for him! How wonderful would it be if he could become an Alchemist?” Huang Xiaoman beamed. Only after coming to the Lingyun Sect did she realize how revered Alchemists were in the Martial Arts World. To become a Pill King was to become a legendary figure, admired by countless experts.

Ling Fei, meanwhile, had returned to his private residence.

’I gained a lot from studying Alchemy today. With a bit more practice, I should be able to start learning how to concoct Elixirs,’ Ling Fei thought, sitting cross-legged on his bed.

’It’s a shame I don’t have True Fire. Otherwise, I would learn much faster.’ Ling Fei sighed softly.

Controlling Earth Fire with Soul Power was too mentally taxing.

Even with his immense Soul Power, his mind would still grow weary.

It would be different if he had True Fire.

’Once I master Alchemy, I’ll have to find a way to search for a Celestial Fire,’ Ling Fei thought.

He then began to circulate the True Dragon Refining God Technique to temper his soul and replenish his Soul Power.

For the next while, Ling Fei went to Alchemy Peak every day to learn his craft. Master Yuan Lang went every day as well, personally pointing out any shortcomings in Ling Fei’s Alchemy. Because of this, Ling Fei’s progress was incredibly smooth. As his control over the Earth Fire improved, his speed at Alchemy grew faster and faster.

For example, on the first day, he only learned to refine one type of medicinal herb, but on the second day he learned to refine four, and on the third day, twenty.

After one month, Ling Fei had learned how to refine 1,800 types of medicinal herbs.

After two months, he could extract the essence from most medicinal herbs the moment he held them. His control over the Earth Fire had reached a state of perfection.

Seventy days into his Alchemy studies, he had extracted the medicinal essence from 3,800 types of herbs.

Ling Fei could even simultaneously refine eight different types of medicinal herbs in a single furnace.

His Control Power was so strong that even Master Yuan Lang was filled with admiration.

”Tomorrow, you can start learning Alchemy.” After Ling Fei simultaneously extracted the essence from eight different herbs, Master Yuan Lang nodded in satisfaction. ”You’ve memorized the Pill Formula for the Celestial Essence Pill and its refining steps, correct?” Seven days prior, Master Yuan Lang had given Ling Fei the Pill Formula and the Key Points for refining the Celestial Essence Pill.

”Yes, Master. I have memorized it,” Ling Fei replied.

”Good. If you succeed in your Alchemy, you will become an Alchemist,” Master Yuan Lang said, full of anticipation.

Ling Fei bowed and withdrew.

Upon returning to his residence, Ling Fei went to check on his Medicine Garden.

The medicinal herbs he was cultivating had all grown. Besides that, Ling Fei had also specially performed Spirit Awakening on a batch of them.

This batch of herbs was precisely the ones used for refining the Celestial Essence Pill.

’Cyan Spirit Branch, Celestial Essence Fruit, Celestial Essence Ginseng, Rejuvenating Grass... These herbs have all matured. They’re ready to be used to concoct Elixirs.’ Ling Fei looked at the herbs, his face filled with anticipation.

Of course, many of the herbs in the Medicine Garden were still in their early stages of growth, their medicinal potency not yet very strong.

But for someone just beginning to learn Alchemy, they were perfect.

After all, older herbs with high medicinal potency were incredibly precious. Using them to learn Alchemy would be too wasteful.

Otherwise, the sheer volume of medicinal herbs wasted by new disciples every year was an enormous figure—not something an ordinary Sect could afford.

Even with the Lingyun Sect’s dedicated Medicine Garden, it wouldn’t be enough.

After all, there were countless disciples in the sect waiting for Elixirs.

For this reason, every Sect would issue tasks for disciples to search for Spiritual Essence in exchange for Contribution Points, all to maintain its operations.

’I wonder what the result will be if I use these Spirit-Awakened herbs for my Alchemy?’ Ling Fei wondered.

These herbs that he had performed Spirit Awakening on grew exceptionally well. Each stalk was wreathed in mist, exuding a palpable Spiritual Qi.

「The next day」

Ling Fei rode the Golden Eagle to Alchemy Peak early in the morning.

In an Alchemy Room on Alchemy Peak, Master Yuan Lang began demonstrating for Ling Fei how to perform Alchemy.

”For your first time performing Alchemy, the most difficult part is managing the essences extracted from the various medicinal herbs. The average person will first extract and store each refined essence. Only after all of them are complete will they place them back into the cauldron to fuse into a pill. This is the simplest and easiest method,” said Master Yuan Lang.

As he spoke, he had already refined various medicinal herbs into their essences, removed them, and placed them into the medicine box beside him for storage.

His technique was as smooth as flowing water.

”After these essences are extracted, you perform the Fusion Pill process all at once... Then you refine the Golden Glaze Flower and use its essence to assist with Solidifying Pill,” Master Yuan Lang explained.

At this moment, he had already wrapped the various essences in True Fire, melting and fusing them together.

Ling Fei, meanwhile, stood by and stared intently at the transformations of the Fire Flame within Master Yuan Lang’s Furnace Cauldron, observing how the essences fused.

In Alchemy, every step is critically important. There is no room for error, or it will affect the final formation of the pill.

”Once the essences have fused, toss in the Golden Glaze Flower, refine its essence, and use it for Solidifying Pill.” As he spoke, Master Yuan Lang tossed a Golden Glaze Flower into the furnace. A wisp of True Fire immediately shot out, enveloping the flower to extract its essence, while below it, another stream of True Fire continued to fuse the other liquids.

Alchemy requires one to multitask with their mind; the Control Power it demands is far beyond that of an ordinary person.

This was why many people, even after studying Alchemy for years, were unable to concoct a single Elixir.

An hour later, with the infusion of the golden liquid, the various essences finished fusing, transforming into a golden Elixir.

With a wave of his hand, Master Yuan Lang lifted the furnace lid. The Elixir flew out, releasing a soul-refreshing aroma that permeated the room.

”Success!” Looking at the Elixir in Master Yuan Lang’s hand, Ling Fei’s eyes flashed.

”This is the most fundamental method of Alchemy,” Master Yuan Lang said. ”After you succeed, you’ll have to learn to perform Fusion Pill directly in the furnace without extracting the essences. The next step after that is refining multiple types of herbs simultaneously, achieving Multiple Pills in One Furnace... But of course, that’s all for later. For now, let’s see if you can even form a pill.”

”Are you ready?” he asked, looking at Ling Fei.

”I’ve been ready for a long time!” Ling Fei’s face was flushed with excitement, and he was itching to try.

Master Yuan Lang nodded slightly and said nothing more.

Ling Fei activated the Array Platform to summon the flames. His Heart Spirit submerged into the device, and after taking control of the Array, he drew forth the Earth Fire to begin his Alchemy.

Various medicinal herbs were tossed in, and everything seemed to be going smoothly.

Then, one by one, the medicinal essences were extracted.

Ling Fei had done this all before. His previous practice of refining several herbs in the same furnace was all in preparation for Alchemy.

’Not bad. His technique is fluid, and his control isn’t as strained as other people’s,’ Master Yuan Lang thought, nodding slightly.

Soon, all seven medicinal herbs for the Celestial Essence Pill had been refined.

Finally, it was time for the most crucial step: the Fusion Pill stage.

At this moment, even Master Yuan Lang couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

Ling Fei, however, seemed completely immersed in Alchemy. He directly guided the various essences into the furnace, preparing for Fusion Pill.

As the Earth Fire melted the essences and caused them to fuse, with a flick of his will, he tossed the Golden Glaze Flower into the Pill Furnace.

FWOOSH!

The Earth Fire flared up, immediately enveloping the Golden Glaze Flower and beginning to refine the essence within.

At the same time, Ling Fei also had to split his focus to control the Earth Fire fusing the previously refined essences.

For many Alchemists, this would be a huge challenge.

Yet Ling Fei made it look easy. His focus was completely immersed within the Pill Furnace, controlling every subtle change inside.

His control over the Earth Fire’s temperature had already reached a state of perfection.

Finally, the golden liquid dripped down and merged with the other essences, and the embryonic form of an Elixir began to take shape.

’It seems his Control Power has exceeded my expectations.’ As the embryonic Elixir appeared, Master Yuan Lang stroked his beard and smiled.

An hour later, a fragrant medicinal aroma wafted out. Ling Fei withdrew his Heart Spirit from the furnace. With a wave of his hand, he lifted the lid and retrieved an Elixir.

This time, the Alchemy was a clear success!

”Let me see!” Master Yuan Lang said, somewhat excited.

”Yes!” Ling Fei handed the Pill to Master Yuan Lang.

”The Elixir is perfectly round, its medicinal potency sealed by the Golden Glaze Flower’s essence. Although there are still some impurities, it’s a complete pill. As long as you keep working hard, you’ll be able to refine flawless Elixirs.” Master Yuan Lang examined the Elixir closely, his face filled with delight. After a moment, he accepted the Elixir.

Then, his gaze sharpened, and he stared at Ling Fei.

His eyes were full of excitement. His expression was as if he were looking at a future Pill King, and waves of emotion stirred in his heart.

Seeing Master Yuan Lang’s reaction, Ling Fei felt a little awkward.

”Keep working hard. With your talent, even without possessing True Fire, you can become a grandmaster of this generation,” Master Yuan Lang said with great excitement.

This young man’s achievements in Alchemy were beyond his imagination.

Ling Fei nodded.

”Continue. This time, pay more attention to whether the impurities in the essences are refined away before the Fusion Pill stage,” said Master Yuan Lang.

”Alright!” Ling Fei resumed his Alchemy.

With each attempt, the quality of the Celestial Essence Pills Ling Fei concocted grew better and better.

By nightfall, he had already refined six Elixirs.

”Not bad. Continue tomorrow.” Master Yuan Lang’s face was full of excitement.

With that, Ling Fei mounted the eagle and departed.

’Tomorrow, I’ll bring those Spirit-Awakened herbs and give them a try,’ Ling Fei mused after returning to his residence.

He wanted to see what the finished Elixirs made from his herbs would be like.

”What! Ling Fei has already succeeded in Alchemy?” At nightfall, in a great hall of the Medicine Vein, Master Yuan Chun looked at Yuan Lang with a face full of surprise.

”Yes,” Yuan Lang smiled. ”This Ling Fei is truly a prodigy. He succeeded in Alchemy on his very first try today. Although the quality was a bit lacking, it’s still a miracle. The few Elixirs he refined after that had fewer and fewer impurities. From what I see, his talent for Alchemy is unmatched in our Medicine Vein.”

”It’s a pity he doesn’t have True Fire. Otherwise, he’d have a real chance at becoming a Pill King.”

Yuan Lang sighed, his face full of regret.

”Quick, show me the Elixirs,” Master Yuan Chun said, stepping down from his throne on the hall’s platform.

He was also very excited at this moment.

”Yes!” Yuan Lang quickly handed the six Elixirs Ling Fei had refined to Master Yuan Chun.

”Not bad. Each one is indeed better than the last.” After seeing the Elixirs, Master Yuan Chun was also incredibly excited.

Then, he turned back to look at Yuan Lang. ”How long has he been in our Medicine Vein?”

”Replying to Grand-uncle, in five days, it will have been ninety days since he joined our Medicine Vein,” Master Yuan Lang said.

”Succeeding at making a pill in less than three months... With such talent, even this old man must admit his inferiority. And he has the legacy of Yuan Feng Ancestor. If he can obtain a Celestial Fire, becoming a Pill King is a real possibility!” Master Yuan Chun’s heart pounded with excitement, his blood boiling. ”Tomorrow, I will go observe his Alchemy. I want to see this once-in-a-millennium prodigy of our Medicine Vein for myself.”

”Yes!” Yuan Lang nodded. He too was looking forward to seeing everyone’s expressions when they learned of Ling Fei’s success in Alchemy.

’That should be quite a show, shouldn’t it?’
