My Most Beautiful Fiancée

He Zheng flared up. ”Are you just going to let him disrespect you like that? Don’t you feel angry at all?”

Mu Lin laughed.

”What’s there to be angry about? Since he says Shi Huiguang can cure Grandma, let him give it a try. If it doesn’t work, I’ll just step in then.”

”I’ve said it before, Shi Huiguang can’t cure her. I trust my own judgment, so I’m not the least bit worried.”

He Zheng pursed her lips. ’What a thing to say...’

Mu Lin was brimming with confidence. She had no idea where he got it from, but this whole affair had left her with none to speak of.

Qu Renjie came running back and said to the old woman, ”Grandma, we mustn’t be impolite! We have to make a good impression on Divine Doctor Shi. Shouldn’t we go outside to welcome him?”

Mu Lin said, ”Doesn’t your grandmother have trouble getting around? Why are you asking her to go out and greet him?”

”Is this any of your business?” Qu Renjie shot Mu Lin a contemptuous look. ”Divine Doctor Shi saw that we didn’t go out to greet him, and now he’s upset!”

”Of course, we have to do some damage control now and try to make a good impression!”

Qu Zizi’s expression shifted. ”Why should we? We’re paying for him to come here, and on top of that, he expects us to act like his servants? How can he be so arrogant?”

Qu Renjie said, ”Why? Because he can save her life! Because he can get Grandma back on her feet again!”

Yu Xing added, ”If the old lady wants to get better, how can she not show some sincerity?”

The old lady grew flustered when she heard this, thinking she had really committed some faux pas. She hurriedly tried to stand up.

Mu Lin chuckled. ”Grandma, don’t worry about it. Just wait here. Shi Huiguang is getting too big for his britches. I’ll teach him a lesson for you!”

Qu Renjie pointed at Mu Lin and cursed, ”You punk, stop making trouble! What are we going to do if Divine Doctor Shi gets angry?”

Mu Lin smiled faintly. ”So what if he’s angry? What can he do? I’d like to see him try and defy me. If he really refuses to listen, then there’s only one path left: beat him into submission.”

’What a thing to say...’

Qu Renjie was livid. ’Does this Mu Lin have any respect for Shi Huiguang at all?’

Mu Lin walked to the window and called out, ”Shi Huiguang, get in here! Don’t make me come drag you in!”

Qu Renjie was terrified. ’That bastard Mu Lin really has some nerve. This is going to make Shi Huiguang fly into a rage.’

’He might have treated Grandma, but now there’s no chance at all.’

’What now?’

”I’m telling you, if Divine Doctor Shi gets angry and refuses to treat Grandma, I will absolutely not forgive you!”

Qu Renjie pointed at Mu Lin, his voice full of rage.

Mu Lin shrugged. ”Do what you want.”

Outside, the car door was open. Shi Huiguang had been waiting for the old lady and her family to come out and personally welcome him.

In his old age, he had grown fond of a bit of pomp and ceremony. He had no other real ambitions.

It wasn’t as if he wanted them to prostrate themselves before him. A simple welcome at the door shouldn’t be too much to ask, right?

He also liked to take photos with his patients to let more people know about his skills.

But then a shout came from inside, and someone was calling him by his full name. ’What’s going on?’

Shi Huiguang was quite angry, but the voice sounded very familiar. He’d heard it more than once, and it seemed to carry an undercurrent of something he couldn’t quite place.

Shi Huiguang snorted. ”Close the door. We’re not waiting on them! Let’s go! If they lack sincerity, there’s no need to attend to them.”

Qu Renjie and Yu Xing rushed out. Seeing the car door close, they became extremely flustered and hurried to the open window.

”Divine Doctor Shi! Don’t go! That punk surnamed Mu is just a nobody passing through! He has nothing to do with our family!”

’Surnamed Mu?’

When Shi Huiguang vaguely heard this, his expression suddenly changed. ’This is terrifying.’

’Who else could it be?’

”I have some other business. I’ll come back another day!” Shi Huiguang said hastily.

’He really didn’t want to come face-to-face with Mu Lin!’

”Divine Doctor Shi, Divine Doctor Shi!” Qu Renjie panicked, thinking this was just an excuse to get rid of him. ”You came all this way. Why won’t you help my grandma get better?”

”No, I can’t...” Shi Huiguang was practically dying of anxiety.

”Stop the car!” Mu Lin’s icy voice boomed in Shi Huiguang’s ears. Shi Huiguang was so terrified he felt like dropping to his knees and kowtowing on the spot.

He looked up but couldn’t see Mu Lin. The voice had come from far away.

’What kind of mystical technique is this?’ He didn’t know what disaster awaited him if he didn’t stop the car, so he yelled frantically.

”Stop! Stop the car!”

Before the car had even come to a full stop, Shi Huiguang pushed the door open and strode out.

He looked over and saw Mu Lin standing quietly in the doorway, watching him.

Shi Huiguang gave an awkward little bow. Mu Lin wasn’t angry. Instead, he said:

”Get in here. The old lady is waiting for you to see her.”

Shi Huiguang’s scalp went numb. He would have felt better if Mu Lin had just cursed him out. This extremely polite act was what he feared the most.

’There’s no telling what kind of torture is waiting for me.’

”Mr. Mu, you’re here?”

Mu Lin gave a dry laugh. ”You’ve got some nerve, making a patient come out to greet you. That’s just ridiculous.”

Shi Huiguang’s face drained of color. ”It’s a misunderstanding! That’s not what I meant at all!”

”Since the old lady is in a wheelchair, I didn’t think it would be too hard for her to come out. I was hoping to ask her to find a place for us to take a photo.”

Mu Lin’s expression darkened. If that was the case, then there wasn’t much of a problem.

At least, not with Shi Huiguang.

The problem was, Mu Lin hadn’t seen a wheelchair anywhere inside.

’So what can you do about that?’

The blame likely fell on Qu Renjie, that unfilial grandson, who hadn’t considered his grandmother’s condition at all.

Mu Lin said, ”Alright, I’ll let it slide for now.”

Shi Huiguang nodded repeatedly. ”Yes! Yes! Thank you, Mr. Mu, for your magnanimity in not pursuing the matter.”

Mu Lin said lightly, ”It’s a small thing. Go see the old lady. And put some effort into it.”

Shi Huiguang nodded again. ”Yes! Yes!”

He walked up to the old woman, nodded, and said, ”Good day, Madam! It’s your legs that are the problem, is it not?”

The old lady was stunned. This was the great Divine Doctor Shi, and here he was, being so polite to her. It was simply incredible.

”Divine Doctor, you are far too kind! What have I ever done to deserve this? The fact that you’re willing to see me is a blessing I must have earned over several lifetimes!”

These words made Shi Huiguang want to shrink into a hole. He was scared to death, terrified that Mu Lin would blame him for the old lady’s praise.

He knew full well that the consequences of offending Mu Lin were dire.

”I don’t deserve such praise,” Shi Huiguang said nervously.

To He Zheng and Qu Zizi, Shi Huiguang’s nervous reaction was a terrifying sight.

The implications were almost unimaginable.

It meant that Mu Lin had Shi Huiguang completely under his thumb. What level of power and skill did one need to be able to do that?

’It’s hard to even fathom.’

”Divine Doctor Shi, how do you think my illness should be treated? Everyone says your medical skills are miraculous. These old bones don’t have any other wishes; I just want to live to see my granddaughter get married.”

Shi Huiguang said, ”Madam, you flatter me too much. With Divine Doctor Mu present, how could I possibly be the one to act!”

Everyone was stunned. What did he mean by that?

’Could what Mu Lin said be...’

”Divine Doctor Shi, what are you saying? Divine Doctor Mu? Him?” Qu Renjie was astonished. He never would have imagined that Shi Huiguang held Mu Lin in such high regard.

Yu Xing shook her head frantically. ”No way. I’ve never heard anything about that!”

Divine Doctor Shi chuckled. ”You’re not at the forefront of the field. You just repeat things you’ve heard from others. What would you know?”

His words left Yu Xing completely speechless. ”I... I...”

”Talk less. It’ll build some good karma for your family’s elders. Who knows, they might need Mu Lin’s help one day!”

Shi Huiguang’s words left everyone completely floored.

Shi Huiguang and Zhao Yang were known as the Twin Heroes of Nanjiang. If even he called someone incredible, just how incredible must they be?

Could it be that only the legendary families of the Medical Dao, like the Sun, Hua, and Zhang clans, could possibly compare?

The mere thought was enough to make their scalps tingle.

The old lady was suddenly overcome with panic. ’Have I been terribly rude? I didn’t make any arrangements for Mu Lin.’

’He’s a Divine Doctor, after all!’

”Zizi, hurry and prepare something for Mu Lin...”

Mu Lin chuckled. ”No, no, please don’t. Just treat me as you would any other junior.”
