My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Mu Lin wasn’t too worried. Zhu Tong was a Mid-stage Grandmaster, so what was there to fear?

How many Grandmasters could there be in a small place like Lanyang?

It wasn’t that Mu Lin was being careless, but there was no point in being overly cautious all the time.

The main purpose of his trip to Lanyang was to investigate Elder Xu’s disappearance. That was the real priority.

He had been held up quite a bit these last two days and needed to speed things up. Otherwise, there was no telling if the Xu Family could be saved.

Zhu Tong escorted Mu Lin back home. Su Nuan gazed after Mu Lin’s departing figure, her eyes full of longing.

If Zhu Tong hadn’t repeatedly stopped her with his warning glances, Su Nuan probably would have already run after Mu Lin.

Only after Mu Lin was gone did Zhu Tong reach out and frantically tousle Su Nuan’s hair, leaving it a complete mess.

”Senior Brother, what are you doing!” Su Nuan said in a soft, sweet voice.

”You’re asking me what I’m doing? Were you planning to run off with Mu Lin?” Zhu Tong pointed at Su Nuan, finding it both infuriating and amusing.

Su Nuan’s face flushed slightly as she turned to the side. ”Of course not! You’ve only just recovered from a major illness. I couldn’t possibly leave you behind!”

”So you’re saying that as soon as I’m fully recovered, you’ll run off, is that it?”

That was just uncalled for. Su Nuan suddenly stiffened her neck, wanting to retort, but she was at a loss for words.

”Senior Brother, how can you say that? I’m your junior sister! I’ve taken care of you for so long. If I wanted to run, I would’ve run long ago!”

Zhu Tong hadn’t expected Su Nuan to actually get angry. He could only try his best to coax her. ”Junior Sister, I really do care about you! Don’t just look at Mu Lin now. In the future, he’s destined to be a towering figure, someone far beyond our reach!”

”Of course, if you truly like him, I will definitely help play matchmaker for you. But it also depends on what Brother Mu Lin thinks; we can’t force it, I’m afraid!”

Hearing her senior brother say this, Su Nuan’s face turned as red as an apple, and she ran off in a flash.

Mu Lin had no idea about this conversation between Zhu Tong and Su Nuan, and even if he did, he wouldn’t have reacted.

He would be leaving soon enough. Liking him would certainly not lead to a happy ending.

Mu Lin headed to Hidden Sword Manor, only to be stunned by the sight of a dozen or so bulldozers advancing in a line. Half of Hidden Sword Manor’s buildings had already been razed to the ground.

The demolition was still underway, with buildings collapsing one after another.

Mu Lin grabbed a man in a red hard hat and lifted the 220-pound foreman clean off the ground.

The foreman was terrified and stammered, ”Pal, spare me, pal! We can talk this out, we can talk! Don’t get physical! Our company bought this land, and we’re building luxury apartments here within six months!”

Mu Lin narrowed his eyes. ”Do you know where this is?”

The foreman replied, ”Isn’t it some bankrupt tourist spot?”

’The person behind this didn’t tell him the truth,’ Mu Lin thought. ”You’re just a worker, so I won’t make things difficult for you. Where’s the person in charge?”

The foreman gave him a location, and Mu Lin set him down. ”Stop all construction immediately. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”

The foreman’s hands and feet went numb with fear. ”Yes, yes!”

Mu Lin paid the foreman no more mind and hurried to where the person in charge was.

The person in charge was enjoying himself with an escort he’d called for when he suddenly heard the door open. He was so startled he nearly lost the ability to ever use it again.

Mu Lin strode over and pinned the man down with one hand. The man roared, ”What... what are you doing!”

”You’re in charge of demolishing Hidden Sword Manor?”

”Are you insane? Why are you sticking up for a garbage place like this?”

Mu Lin slapped him twice across the face. ”If you don’t want to die, calm down. Are you in charge of demolishing Hidden Sword Manor?”

”Yeah, it was me. What are you gonna do about it?”

”Stop the work now, or your head will roll,” Mu Lin said calmly.

”What nerve!” the man raged. ”I’ve never met someone so arrogant!”

Mu Lin said, ”Well, now you have. Are you going to do it or not?”

”Get lost! This is Master Fan’s property. You dare touch it? Go on, I dare you! I’ll make you regret it!”

”Master Fan? You mean Fan Ding? Call him. Tell him to get his ass over here in half an hour and to bring He Zongshan with him. Tell him Mu Lin is waiting. If he doesn’t show, he’ll bear the consequences.”

At these words, the man began to tremble uncontrollably. He hastily wrapped a bath towel around his waist and scurried to the side to make a call.

”Master Fan, there’s a guy named Mu Lin stopping the Hidden Sword Manor demolition project. He’s demanding you come over right now. What should I do?”

”Who?!”

Fan Ding was so scared he trembled all over, broke out in a cold sweat, and practically leaped up.

”You better be respectful! If you offend Mr. Mu, I’ll hold you personally responsible!”

Hearing this reaction, the man in charge was terrified.

’Why would Master Fan take this person so seriously? How could this be?’

Fan Ding struggled to push his wheelchair toward the door, frantically calling for his subordinates to quickly push him to He Zongshan’s office.

He had been beaten severely by Mu Lin, and his injuries were so grave that he couldn’t handle matters himself for the time being. But as the second-in-command, many things still required his approval, so he had no choice but to prop himself up in a wheelchair. It was a truly pitiful sight.

He was swiftly pushed to He Zongshan’s office. Seeing his second-in-command arrive in such a rush, He Zongshan was also quite surprised.

”Second Brother, what are you doing here?”

Fan Ding quickly explained the situation, scaring He Zongshan so badly he jumped.

”What’s all this about? Quick, let’s go!”

With that, he rushed out the door. The subordinate pushing the wheelchair pushed for his dear life but was still far behind He Zongshan.

Since He Zongshan was channeling his cultivation into his running, it was only natural that he couldn’t be caught.

But in the end, he still had to wait for the subordinate and Fan Ding. It was a full ten minutes before they finally set off.

”Big Brother, why is Mu Lin so troublesome? Why does he care about Hidden Sword Manor?”

He Zongshan was also puzzled. ”I don’t know! Weren’t you in charge of this? Why are you asking me?”

Fan Ding said, ”You could beat me to death and I’d never have guessed that Hidden Sword Manor had anything to do with Mu Lin! He’s not here for Luo Wanqing, is he?”

He Zongshan’s expression was grave. Very few people knew the secret behind Hidden Sword Manor.

The only reason a young man like Mu Lin would be so concerned with Hidden Sword Manor was perhaps that he had taken a fancy to Luo Wanqing.

”But isn’t this secret unknown to anyone? How did he find out?”

”Could he have stumbled upon it at the auction? Luo Wanqing usually makes an appearance, so he probably just discovered it by pure chance.”

”Forget it! We have to get there now, no matter what!”

They rushed all the way to the hotel.

He Zongshan was also seriously injured, his broken arm in a sling, but he ran ahead of Fan Ding’s wheelchair at top speed.

He immediately came before Mu Lin. ”Mr. Mu, what are you doing here? Did my men offend you somehow?”

Mu Lin looked He Zongshan up and down. ”Why are you demolishing Hidden Sword Manor? Where is Luo Wanqing? And Jiang Lan?”

Jiang Lan was Luo Wanqing’s best friend, and also the daughter of the nominal Sword Concealment Manor Master.

Now He Zongshan was certain. Mu Lin definitely knew Luo Wanqing and was very familiar with her.

This made things interesting.

”Mr. Mu, I truly don’t know about Manor Master Luo’s situation, but I do know a thing or two about Jiang Lan’s!”

Mu Lin’s calm gaze fell upon He Zongshan, waiting for him to continue.

He Zongshan answered, ”She was taken away by the Young Master of the Eternal Construction Company.”

’I’ve never even heard of that construction company. Where did they come from?’

He decided to put that question aside for now and settle the matter of Luo Wanqing first. Mu Lin said, ”By daring to touch Hidden Sword Manor, you have offended the power behind Luo Wanqing. Don’t you understand the consequences?”

He Zongshan gave a bitter smile. ”Mr. Mu, you give us too much credit. We don’t have that kind of authority. At most, we just do what our superiors tell us! The people behind Manor Master Luo have already abandoned her, which is why this happened...”

”We’re just following orders...”

Mu Lin was somewhat surprised. Luo Wanqing had been running the manor for who knows how long, and everything had been fine, right? Why would the people backing her suddenly abandon her?

’Isn’t that just shooting themselves in the foot?’

’Who knows how long it would take to build up a brand as big as Hidden Sword Manor again. What were they thinking?’

”So, what’s with this construction company that’s tearing the place down? Where did they get the nerve to demolish the buildings? Did someone give them the green light?”
