High School DxD: Return of the Crimson Dragon Emperor

Chapter 494: Chapter 484 Hovering down beside me

Hovering down beside me, Lisha watched the roaring vortex.

”Do you think we got him?” I asked, breathing heavily.

”Hard to say. We stacked two forces that should be impossible to withstand, but...”

”Which means there’s still a chance he survived. If that’s the case, I might actually cry.”

The crimson and white light still surged wildly. Inside that storm, millions of destructive blades were slicing away, attempting to erase his very existence. If only it would end here...

”...Ngh! As expected, it wasn’t enough...!” Lisha’s expression suddenly hardened as she glared into the center of the blast.

In the next instant—a storm that should have raged until everything was reduced to atoms was shattered from the inside out. The crimson light was blown away in a single burst, and a suffocating pressure washed over us.

”If I lose focus for even a second... I’ll pass out...!”

Heavy footsteps crunched against the scorched earth, slowly approaching.

Out walked Razul, casually strolling through the smoke. Blood leaked from several deep cuts across his body, proving the attack hadn’t been entirely useless. But to think that absolute storm of destruction had only inflicted minor superficial wounds...!

”Gahahahaha! Man, that was impressive! If I hadn’t taken this form, that might’ve actually been dangerous!”

Razul laughed boisterously, extending a massive hand toward us.

”My turn.”

The moment he spoke, an invisible force seized us. Unresponsive to our own wills, our bodies were dragged rapidly toward him!

”Gravitational attraction...! In that case!”

Just as Lisha had done back in Agreas, we launched a volley of long-range attacks while being pulled in. Gravitational pull is a double-edged sword—the momentum added to our attacks should have amplified their impact tenfold upon striking him.

Explosions rocked his frame, but Razul didn’t even flinch.

”Sorry, ladies, but attacks at this level won’t reach me anymore. You’ll need something at least as strong as that last combination!”

Razul slammed his palms together, condensing an unnatural amount of hyper-dense energy between them.

”—Fly.”

The second he uttered the word, the energy detonated. The gravitational pull instantly inverted into a violent repulsive shockwave, blasting us away like scrap paper and slamming us viciously into the ground!

Me, Akeno, and everyone facing him were battered and broken by that single blast.

The impact hit so hard I couldn’t catch my breath. I could feel hair-line fractures in my ribs.

”To be pushed this far... ghk!”

I couldn’t hold it back and coughed up a clot of blood. My limbs felt numb and unresponsive. Even Lisha looked heavily damaged by the shockwave, barely able to keep her feet underneath her.

”Everyone!”

Xenovia tried to break away from her fight with Walz to reach us, but Walz’s clone intercepted her blade instantly.

”Your opponent is me,” the clone said smoothly.

”Get out of my way!”

Kiba, Xenovia, and Irina were attacking Walz’s clone with everything they had, but their side wasn’t faring much better. All three were covered in cuts and panting heavily, while the clone bore only minimal scratches. Even three-on-one, Walz held the upper hand.

”Rias! Everyone!”

Asia, in her Balance Breaker form, spread a radiant golden aura, desperately channeling healing magic into us. Thanks to her, I managed to push myself up, but our situation remained dire.

Razul looked down at us, his voice cold and dry. ”Give up. The gap between us is too wide for this to even be called a fight. Even with the Red-Eyed Sniper on your side, none of you have the firepower left to break through my armor.”

”It frustrates me to admit it, but you are correct,” Lisha said, standing up with Asia’s healing. ”If taking our combined ultimate attack head-on wasn’t enough to bring you down, we have no firepower left that can overcome your defense. However—”

Lisha was battered from head to toe. Around her lay the shattered remnants of her Rifle and Shield Bits. The only weapon she had left was a single magic firearm in her hand.

Yet, the fire in her eyes hadn’t been extinguished.

”We cannot fall back.”

”I thought you were smarter than that,” Razul grunted. ”That’s a foolish tactical decision.”

”Yes, I know. Strategically, retreating to regroup would be the correct choice. But we have nowhere left to run. If we fall back here, everything ends.”

Lisha raised her remaining gun, leveling the barrel straight at Razul’s chest.

”If we lose this battle, there is no tomorrow. To claim our future, we will defeat you.”

She was right. I couldn’t just stay down. I promised I would win and return to that house. We all swore it together.

So...!

Forcing my numb, trembling body to move, I stood tall and shouted with everything left in my soul:

”No matter how broken we get! No matter how impossible the odds! We will blow you away!”

Crimson Power of Destruction flared from every pore of my body. Following my lead, my peerage members unleashed their remaining auras, letting their spirits swell.

Looking at us, Razul let out a slow sigh.

”Good grief... The outcome is already set in stone. I really hate beating up opponents who are already on their last legs. But... if I don’t answer that spirit of yours, I’d be trampling all over your pride and resolve, wouldn’t I? Fine then...!”

Razul’s aura surged to an entirely new dimension!

A scorching crimson pillar of energy shot into the heavens, splitting the sky and cracking the earth beneath us! Just how much power was he hiding...?!

”I’m going all out. Don’t hold it against me!”

In an instant, Razul vanished—and reappeared directly in front of me.

”Rias! Run!” Akeno’s panicked voice reached my ears.

But my body refused to move—

”It’s over, crimson princess. Once I take you down, your peerage will finally stop.”

Razul’s colossal arm swung downward with crushing force—

”Pardon me, but that is my family you are targeting. I cannot simply stand by and watch.”

The moment those words echoed, Razul’s massive frame was sent flying sideways by a sudden, devastating impact.

Razul flipped in midair, landing effortlessly on his feet. A broad smile spread across his face as he looked at his new intruder.

”Ho... Look who decided to show up.”

Standing in Razul’s line of sight was a man clad in the aura of a golden lion.

I couldn’t hide my shock and relief as I called out his name—

”Sairaorg... you came!”

The Bael peerage had arrived on the battlefield.
